The University congratulates you for choosing and getting registered in Bharathiar
University for Ph.D. programme.
While I remind the candidates to continuously put in their efforts to show progress, I
would like to seek your attention for the following.
i. We have to issue identity cards to all registered candidates. For this purpose, kindly
fill up the enclosed form in black ball point and send it with two pass port size
photographs; with name at the back of the photograph to reach the Director. A DD in
favour of The Registrar, Bharathiar University, payable at Coimbatore for Rs.100/should be attached
ii. The candidates are requested to send their six month progress report in the format
enclosed.
iii. The candidates with post graduate qualification only have to write three written
papers as Part I of the Ph.D. programme. Candidates with M.Phil. qualification in the
same subject of Ph.D. need not write the papers.
The syllabus for the course work under the respective disciplines are available in
the University Website

Kindly see the papers under the given discipline. In each discipline first two
papers are common. Usually for Paper III (special paper) 10 papers are available; the
candidate has to choose one which is closest to his / her specialization in consultation
with the supervisor.
The candidate has to inform the Director the title of the three papers he/she will
be writing.

The candidates are eligible to write the examination after one year of the date of
Registration and has to pass the papers within three years after registration.
The candidate can write all the three papers at a time or in different sittings. The
candidate has to pass in three attempts.
The candidate will be informed in advance. They should also see the website for
information
Further in some cases the Doctoral Committees would have instructed the
candidates with M.Phil. qualification to write a paper, under the syllabus prepared by
the respective Research Supervisor.
Such candidates should complete the process (Preparation of syllabus, question
paper by the Research Supervisor and conducting examination and sending all the
materials to the Director before completion of one year)
Candidates should make all efforts to publish their research finding in refereed
journals/citation indexed journals
While submission of research papers for publications, the candidates are advised
to write the name of authors and Institution as follows (not mandatory)

After one year of the Registration, the candidates have to appear before the Doctoral
Committee and present the annual progress report, LCD facility will be available
For candidates from foreign countries review will be conducted through Video
Conferencing. They have to submit the annual progress report along with 2nd annual
fee. Progress review meeting will be arranged subsequently.
