RECAP: The Rainiers scored 3 runs over the 3rd and 4th inning to take a 3-0 lead and tied it at 4-4 with a run bottom of the 7th inning, but
allowed 2 runs in the top of the 9th as Tacoma lost to Reno 4-6 on Wednesday night. RF Stefen Romero (2x4, R) and LF Leon Landry (2x3,
R, HR, 2 RBI) each recorded 2 hits as the Rainiers out-hit the Aces 9-7. Landry hit his 6th AAA home run with a solo blast with 1 out in the 7th
inning, while 3B Carlos Rivero (1x4, R, HR, RBI) hit his 7th home run of the season with a solo shot with 1 out in the 3rd inning. Starter Sam
Gaviglio (4.1,5,3,3,3,1) allowed 3 runs on 5 hits over4.1 innings, but did not factor into the decision. Relievers Logan Bawcom (1.0,1,1,1,0,2),
Tyler Olson (0.2,0,0,0,1,0), Tony Zych (1.0,0,0,0,1,1), Mayckol Guaipe (1.2,1,2,2,2,3) and RH Andrew Kittredge (0.1,0,0,0,1,0) combined to
allow 3 runs over the final 4.2 innings. Guaipe recorded his 4th loss of the season after being charged with 2 runs in the top of the 9th inning.
REHAB ASSIGNMENT: RHP Hisashi Iwakuma is scheduled to make his first rehab start with Tacoma today vs. Reno. He previously made a
rehab start with the Everett AquaSox on June 20 vs. Eugene, allowing 1 run on 3 hits, while walking 0 and striking out 1 in 3.2 innings.
Iwakuma was placed on the 15-day disabled list (retroactive to April 21) with a right lat strain on April 24. He underwent a magnetic resonance
imaging (MRI) exam on April 25 and the results were read by a radiologist and by Seattle Mariners medical director Dr. E. Edward Khalfayan
and confirmed a diagnosis of a Grade 1 strain of the right latissimus dorsi. Iwakuma, 34, is 0-1, 6.61 in 3 starts with Seattle this season (16.1
IP, 12 ER). He last pitched April 20 vs. Houston, leaving the game in the sixth inning with a 5-3 lead. His final line was 5.1 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 0
BB, 3 SO and 2 home runs allowed. For the season, he has allowed 5 homers in 16.1 innings pitched. Opposing hitters boast a .308 batting
average against, after Iwakuma limited hitters to a combined mark of .235 in his first three seasons (2012-2014). Iwakuma finished the 2014
season 15-9, with a 3.52 earned run average. He made 28 starts despite missing all of April on the disabled list with a torn tendon in his right
index finger.
OF NOTE:

This season the Rainiers have recorded 10 or more hits in 33 games, including 8 in the last 10 gamesthe Rainiers are batting .277

Since May 27, INF/OF Shawn OMalley has hit safely in 23 of his last last 26 games, batting .375 (39x104) with 22 runs scored, 4

RECAP: 2B/3B Johmbeyker Morales and RF Hersin Martinez each drove in 2 runs as the AZL Mariners defeated the AZL Athletics 7-6 on
Wednesday night. CF Gareth Morgan (3x4, 2B) led the Mariners with 3 hits, while Morales (2x4, 2 R, 3B, 3 RBI, SB) and Martinez (2x4, R, 2
RBI, BB) each recorded 2 of the teams 12 hits. Starter Anthony Fernandez, making a rehab start, allowed 1 run on 5 hits over 4.0 innings,
but did not factor into the decision. LH Jared West (1.0,1,0,0,0,0,2) recorded the win in his first career appearance, allowing only 1 hit and
striking out 2 in a scoreless 5th inning. RH Ulises Perez (1.0,2,4,2,4,0) and RH Yohailys Millord (2.0,2,1,1,0,2) combined to allowed 5 runs (3

RHP Pablo Lopez earned his first win of the season on June 20 at AZL Padresit was his first win since Aug. 8, 2013 vs. the VSL
Tigers (w/VSL Mariners).
o Lopez underwent Tommy John surgery on his right elbow on Nov. 11, 2013 and missed the entire 2014 season.
REHAB ASSIGNMENT:

LHP Kyle Hunter, who was placed on the Jackson disabled list on May 1 with left forearm strain, is currently on rehab assignment with
the AZL MarinersHobson made his first relief appearance with the AZL Mariners on June 22 vs. AZL White Sox, allowing 1 hit and
striking out 3 in 2.0 innings.
o Hunter was 1-0 with a 5.40 ERA (5 ER, 8.1 IP) in 5 games/2 starts with AA Jackson (8 BB, 6 K).

LHP Anthony Fernandez, who has been on the disabled list since May 2, 2014, under went surgery to repair UCL rupture in left elbow
(Tommy John) on May 22, 2014 (surgery performed by Dr. James Andrews).
o Fernandez made his first rehab start with the AZL Mariners on June 24 at AZL Athletics, his first appearance since April 28, 2014 at
Sacramento w/AAA Tacomaoverall allowed 1 run on 5 hits, while walking 0 and striking out 2 in 4.0 innings.
o Fernandez was designated for assignment on January 14, 2015 and optioned on Jan. 16he has spent 8 season in the Mariners
organization, after being signed as a non-drafted free agent on Sept. 29, 2006.

OF Austin Cousino, was placed on a rehab assignment with the AZL Mariners on June 24he has been on the DL all season with a
strained left shoulder rotator cuff.
o In 1 game with the AZL Mariners, Cousino is 0-for-1 with a 1 run scored and 1 walk.
o Cousino hit .266 (72x271) with 40 runs scored, 17 doubles, 1 triple, 6 home runs ,28 RBI, 28 walks and 23 stolen bases in his first

MLB FUTURES ALL-STAR GAME


Seattle Mariners minor league shortstop Ketel Marte and right-handed pitcher Edwin Diaz have been selected to represent the World team in
the 17th annual SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game to be played on Sunday, July 12th at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati, as part of All-Star
weekend.
Marte, 21, fractured his left thumb on May 31 vs. Round Rock and was placed on the Tacoma disabled list on June 1. He is currently rehabbing
at the Peoria Sports Complex, but is expected to be ready and able to play in the Futures Game. Marte hit safely in 42 of 51 games with 19
multi-hit contest, batting .343 (68x198) with 30 runs scored, 10 doubles, 1 triple, 2 home runs, 24 RBI, 18 walks and 17 stolen bases with AAA
Tacoma. At the time of his injury (through game on May 31), Marte led the PCL in average (.343/68x198), games (51) and hits (68), while
ranking 2nd in stolen bases (17) and at-bats (198) and 3rd in lowest TPA/SO ratio (11.05). Marte was signed as a non-drafted free agent on
Aug. 13, 2010. Over 5 seasons in the Mariners organization, he is batting .292 (487x1670) with 271 runs scored, 66 doubles, 19 triples, 162
RBI, 104 walks and 97 stolen bases in 427 games.
Diaz, 21, is currently pitching for AA Jackson in the Southern League. In 14 starts between A Bakersfield and AA Jackson, Diaz is 4-4 with a
3.96 ERA (28 ER, 75.0 IP), including going 2-4 with a 4.97 ERA (21 ER, 38.0 IP) in 7 starts with the Generals. Overall he has limited opponents
to a .219 (59x269) average, while walking 23 and striking out 76 in 75.0 innings. Diaz was the Mariners 3rd round selection in the 2012 MLB
First-Year Player Draft ouf of Caguas Military Acedemy in Puerto Rico. Over his first 4 professional seasons, Diaz is 17-15 with a 3.00 ERA (93
ER, 279.1 IP) in 60 games/52 starts.
The Mariners have had 35 selections (including Marte and Diaz) to the Futures Game since its first began in 1999. Six players on the current
25-man roster (+DL) played in the Futures Game in the past: Robinson Cano (2003-04), Nelson Cruz (2005), Felix Hernandez (2004), Logan
Morrison (2010), James Paxton (2011) and Taijuan Walker (2012-13) . Brad Miller was selected to the 2013 U.S. Team, but was unable to play
due to his promotion to the Major League squad. Cano (All-Star: 2006, 2010-14, Futures Game: 2003 & 2004), Cruz (All-Star: 2009, 2013-14,
Futures Game: 2005) and Hernandez (All-Star: 2009, 2011-14; Futures Game: 2004) are each one of 120 players to have competed in both the
SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game and the Major League Baseball All-Star Game.
Major League Baseball, in conjunction with the Major League Baseball Scouting Bureau, MLB.com, Baseball America and the 30 Major League
Clubs, selected the 25 players currently on each team. Each Major League organization is represented and players from all full-season Minor
Leagues were eligible to participate.
The SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game, which is now in its 17th year, features the top Minor League prospects competing in a nine-inning contest
as part of All-Star Sunday. The U.S. Team, which has won each of the last five contests, leads the all-time series, 10-6. As part of its live AllStar Week programming, MLB Network will exclusively televise and MLB.com will live stream the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game at 3:00 p.m.
