General installation guidelines for the pump series V-AN

1)

Suction line
Dimension the suction line so that the flow speed at maximum delivery rate
does not exceed 1 m/s. If this is not taken into account, the required suction
head Hz (as specified in the offer or data sheet ) must be increased by the
losses within the suction line. Also include flow losses by installing internal
fittings such as screens.
At the top, the upper line must run straight without increases, otherwise gas
or steam bubbles may separate, possibly reaching the pump in clusters.
This causes noise and pressure fluctuations.

2)

Gas bubble

Suction container, feed pipe

In most cases, instead of a large-volume suction container a simple feed pipe suffices for selfregulating pumps.
The feed pipe is to be dimensioned so that within the liquid level on the feed side Hz = 0 to Hz =
max. ( at Qdesign ) a flow speed of approx. 0.1 to 0.3 m/s, for gas- or steam-containing liquids 0.05
0.1 m/s, is not exceeded. This is necessary to achieve sufficient damping with a fluctuating feed
volume, or, if possible, no gas enters the pump when gas- or steam-containing media are
conveyed.
The height of the suction container / feed pipe above the middle of the pump casing should be at
least 1.5 times the suction head required for the working point.

3)

Static fraction of the delivery height/ minimum delivery height

For quiet pump operation at zero delivery or a very small flow volume a minimum delivery height
is required.
Since the delivery height at zero delivery only comprises of the static fraction, consisting of a
difference in elevation and a system pressure difference, this fraction must already be
determined during planning.
Depending on the pump speed and pump size, the required static fraction is 2.5 15 m. The
specifically required value is listed in the offer. If the static delivery height consists of a system
pressure difference and a difference in elevation, the fraction of the difference in elevation should
be at least 2 - 5 m.

4)

Pressure compensation line

The pressure compensation line is to be connected to the gas space of the system pressure on
the feed side and must not carry any liquid. The nominal width should correspond to the nominal
width of the pump connection flange. Since condensate may form in this line, the line must be
installed to ensure that no siphon develops.

5)

Pressure conduit
The pressure line is to be installed to rise continually! If this is impossible, the manufacturer
should be consulted.
Efficient flow speeds are approx. 1.5 3 m/s according to the length of the pressure line.
The installation of a check valve or a non-return valve must be avoided, if the pump is also
operated at zero delivery or very small flow volumes, since the installation can cause vibrations
and pressure fluctuations within the pressure line.
