Income Tax return filing

extended to August 31
The
Income
Tax
Department notified a new set
of income tax return forms for
the assessment year 2015-16,
and has extended the deadline
for the filing of returns to
August 31.
The previous deadline for
the filing of returns was July 31,
but this was extended because
of various changes the
government made out to the
return forms.
In the new and simplified
forms, filers no longer have to
provide the detail of their
foreing travels. In addition, they
need furnish only details about
the total number of savings and
current bank accounts held by
them at any time during the
previous year (excluding
dormant accounts).
The most simplified form,
ITR-2A, to be filled by those
individuals and HUFs who do
not have incomd from business,
profession, or by way of capital
gains and do not hold foreign
assets, only asks for the
passport number of the tax filer
if available.

Pre-departure orientation
Education USAs is organising a pre-departure orientation for
students admitted to U.S Universities for the academic year 2015-16.
The event will take place on July 10 between 9.30 a.m to 3 p.m. and
will have interactive sessions on a range of topics such as travel
planning, F1 visa rules as an international student, adjusting to social
and cultural life and the academic environment in the U.S.
The speakers will include representatives from U.S Consulate in
Chennai. academics from the U.S universities and also alumini of U.S
universities.
The pre-departure orientation is designed to ease the entry of
Indian students into American culture and enable them to make the
most of their student life in the United States.
This will also provide them an opportunity to meet other students
travelling to various universities in the U.S and create a network of
contacts.

Anna University creates login

for MA aspirants
Anna University has created a login facility for aspirants to apply
online for Masters programme in engineering and architecture courses
offered under the TNCA (Tamil Nadu Common Admissions) for the
current academic year. The details are available on the university

Merit-cum-means scholarship
The objective of this is to provide financial assistance to poor
and meritorious students belonging to minority communities- Muslim,
Christian, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain and Zorostrian (Parsi) to enable them to
pursue professional and technical courses. Eligibility: Graduate, Postgraduate students of technical/professional courses and whose parents annual income is below Rs.2.50 lakh.

Workshop on wheelchair
basketball
The Wheelchair Basketball Federation of India in partnership with
the International Committee of the Red Cross is organising a 10 day
workshop on wheel chair basketball from September 4 to 14 at Jawaharlal
Indoor Stadium, Chennai. The goal of the workshop is to train the first
set of classifiers, coaches, referees and players for the long term development of the sport in India. It will have courses for classifiers, coaches,
referees and a workshop for professional players.
Jess Markt, a renowned whheelchair basketball coach from the

With regard to bank accounts, filers only need to provide the
IFSC code of their bank and the account numbers of all current
and savings accounts held at any point of time during the previous
year. This does not include dormant accounts. In an additional
feature, tax filers have been given the option of including in which
account they would like their refund credited.
In the ITR-2 forms, for individuals and HUFs having income
from business or profession, filers will also have to declare if they
hold any assets abroad or have any income from any source outside
India.

admission
Students planning to join
Indian Institute of Technology
can now opt for the institutes in
Thirupati and Palakkad. The IIT
Thirupati and IIT Palakkad were
officially declared open for
admissions on wednesday.
Each of the two new institutes
will offer four core branches of
engineering- civil. electrical,
mechanical and computer
science engineering. Each
branch will admit 30 students,
totalling 120.
IIT Thirupati is currently
functioning at Chadalawada
Nagar on the ThirupatiRenigunta Road, about 24 km
from Thirupati town. IIT Palakkad

the open Auditorium on 21st
June 2015.

celebration and highlighted
the importance and the
necessities about the practice
of Yoga.

Yoga means UNION that integrates body,

mind and soul. All the students exhibited various
asanas which invigorates the entire body and
relieves stress and depression. Special asanas that
could sooth the back pain were demonstrated by
the Yoga masters towards holistic health
consciousness and peace of mind.
The International Yoga Day created
awareness among the students and teachers. All
the students and teachers practiced Yogasanas
as Yoga is Indias gift to humanity and it
expresses wisdom and learning of generations.
The celebration created rejuvenation among the
Yoga practitioners and paved way to Yogapath.

Flower arrangement
The wards of Classes V, VI, VII and VIII participated in the Activity "FLOWER ARRANGEMENT". They made beautiful bouquets out of a variety
of natural and artificial flowers. Dilip Kumawat R. of Std. VI stood First, Aadil
Noor Ahmed of
Std. VI stood Second and Rayman Raboni Krishnan of Std. VII stood Third.
The students enjoyed performing the activity and learnt a very useful skill. It was
a spectacular sight when the students displayed the array of flower arrangement.
