Where Do I Begin?
Guest Speaker: Rev. Sunshine Daye

I glanced at our calendar, only to

realize that our church is turning 60 on
July 21! How did that happen? Seems like
we just had a gala rededication ceremony
for our 50th! And within days after that,
I have my 19 anniversary as your Senior
Minister! What a great time we have had
learning and growing together! What an
amazing gift this church is to each of us.
We can thank Carl Bennitt, one of the
Founding Board Members under
Founding Minister, Rev. Thelma
McHenry, for heading up the Building
Committee and actually taking care of
the brick and mortar that became our
Sanctuary and Offices. Two years in the
building, we have today a wonderful
property which is fully owned by our
congregation.
Its a pretty impressive story, that a
small group of people (50 were required
to charter the church) would give birth
to such splendor as we experience here.
There was a vision of our church in the
mind of God and these people were
willing to align with it and work towards
it. It wasnt done in a moment, but
instead had times of great activity, (our
Founder, Ernest Holmes was at the

ground breaking and the final opening &

dedicatiion ceremony) and times when
building would stop because the funds
would all be used and the congregation
would have to enter into prayer and
break loose from old thoughts of lack and
limitation.
They often used ceremony to assist
with the break through, and always
prayer. Holding 24 hour prayer vigils on
the concrete slab, shining the lights of
their cars onto the empty space at night
to illumine the invisible building,
knowing that what was invisible was
becoming visible in that very moment.
Of course, the Law responded! The prayer
was aligned with the vision of God for
this community, all sense of lack and
limitation was released, and the positive
energy would return and the project
move forward.
It is good for us to remember this
because sometimes, in our own lives and
creative adventures, our personal projects
seem to be stalled. This simply means to
me that it is time to pray and in that
prayer to remember what I have aligned
with, which is a power for Good. I am

We are a vibrant, loving community and an inspirational resource for spiritual awakening and personal growth.

The purpose of this Church shall be to serve as a Spiritual Development Center by making available the knowledge and practice
of Science of Mind to all people, and especially to its members, and to foster their spiritual, cultural and general well-being and to
provide facilities for education, fellowship and public worship.

FROM THE BOARD

Wilvesta Morgan Jr., President
Whew! What an amazing beginning
of a new year we have already experienced. Excitement always prevails
when we meet each other, whether
it is in one of our many classes that
are starting, our services, or perhaps
at our many social events. It is this
type of spirit that makes our community the loving place that it is.
Speaking of classes, have you noticed the new classes
that are being given? It is so astounding to see so many new
classes that are being facilitated by our Practitioners. All of
our Practitioners are outstanding and their faces are always
out front, doing fantastic things.
The most recent event that exemplifies their talents
occurred at Good Friday Service, when they presented the
Seven Last Words of Jesus. Their presentations were spectacular and the entire evening was special. Rev. Kris brought
her excellent message and we were thrilled by the superb
voice of Tina Meeks accompanied by our fantastic Mary Ekler
on the piano. If you were not there you missed a treat. You
must put this event on your calendar for next year.
I would be remiss in this article if I did not mention our
Easter Sunday Service. Our Rev. Kris and Rev. Carol were
terrific as usual. I do have to praise Paula Aghajanian, our
guest soloist, Mary Ekler at the piano and Randy Landis on
bass. They were absolutely magnificent. Paula with her
extraordinary voice was certainly at the top of her performance. The congregation gave them standing ovations for
all of their songs. With Mary and Randy urging Paula on
with their talents, the music was extraordinarily fantastic.
There are so many great things that happen at our
church. There are always so many events in our spiritual
community and we want to let you know what we are all
about. It is our desire to serve our area well, and that is why
we welcome all Spiritual Paths, all Walks of Faith and all
Seekers of Truth to our church. This is the spirit of love that
you will always feel the moment that you enter our doors.

Often in my articles, I ask you to send a card to some of

our members that have served us well, and are no longer
able to attend church. We do not forget these members and
they love to hear from us. You can update them on how our
church is doing. I write people on a regular basis and I call
them as well. I can attest to the fact that it makes them feel
good. I know most of these that are just not able to come to
service, it brings joy to them to know they have not been
forgotten. Just try it you will experience knowing how happy
you made someone.
This month, I want to shine my spotlight on the Board
of Trustees; Kellie Mulhern Davis, Peggy Huber, Victoria Del
Aguila, Leri Smith, and Linda Cullerton. It is an honor to
praise them for the excellent work that they are doing. I must
say that they are continuing to follow in the footsteps of all
previous Boards that I have had the honor to have served.
How blessed we currently are to have such a super group of
ladies to work with on our Board. They are a fabulous group
of leaders and are a delight to work with. Each one is
perfectly gifted to fill the position that she holds. Not only
are our Board Meeting productive but we laugh together
while we accomplish good things. I could go on and on
discussing each position and its requirements but I wont do
so. I will, however, make this statement and that is our
Community is in absolutely good hands. We will continue
to serve our family well.
Your support is what we appreciate the most and always
remember that your time, talents and contributions will
always be the driving force that will allow the Board to
continue to serve you and maintain our facilities in a manner
that will make you proud of our church.
On behalf of the Board of Trustees, Rev Kris, Rev. Carol
and our entire Practitioner staff, it is with our deepest gratitude and love that we stand in total awe of our congregation and thank all of you for your support of our magnificent church.
With a loving heart,
Wilvesta Morgan, Jr.

BLISSFUL LIVING
By Rev. Dr. Carol Bliss

Embracing Love
Life is infinite energy coupled with
limitless creative imagination. It is the
invisible essence and substance of
every visible form. Its nature is goodness, truth, wisdom and
beauty, as well as energy and imagination. Ernest Holmes
What a difference a subtle shift in our perspective can
create. No matter where we find ourselves in life, no matter
what we are going through, we are always at a point of
power. Life can throw some bitter blows. We sometimes find
ourselves stuck in circumstances with no earthly idea how
to get out, but God always knows and Gods grace is always
with us.
When we turn our attention just a tiny bit toward higher
thoughts, its as if the whole world shifts. Ideas, people, and
places that support our good welcome and embrace us in

love. We realize that we live in a world of infinite possibility

and that we are being led by Love every step of the way.
The same God who illuminated the stars created you.
Within each one of us is a Divine guidance system, far more
powerful than any GPS. The Divine within us knows our
every need and how to carry us toward our dreams. As Paul
so eloquently said two thousand years ago, whatsoever is
true, whatsoever is noble, whatsoever is right, whatsoever is
pure, whatsoever is lovely, whatsoever is admirable if
anything is excellent or praiseworthy think on such
things.
Our only task is to turn our attention back toward God,
back toward the good. Thats all it takes. One tiny, imperceptible shift returns us back to Love.
With Gratitude Abounding
Rev. Dr. Carol

Visions & Values cont. from page 1

assured that if what I want to express and experience is
aligned with Spiritual Ideas (expresses more love, life, joy,
beauty, abundance, etc.) and harms no one, then nothing
can stand in its way, not even a false belief of lack. Nothing
is greater than God!
In reviewing, acknowledging and celebrating my own
19 years here, I see my growth. What a wonderful spiritual
pathway I have! And I truly believe that I am the most
blessed of Ministers. I have the great blessing of walking
with you! We have now and have always had wonderful
Boards, who come to this work without ego or agendas,
simply wanting the best for our beloved community, being
sure to bring good business practices based in solid spiritual principles in all of our dealings. I have been surrounded
by the best Ministers and Practitioners to support the depth
of teaching and growth for all of us. We have amazing
volunteers that are willing to give of your time and talent
to our community, and all in this wonderful community
of love who support our church financially, so we can do
all of the things that are required to keep our property well
maintained, offer the best programs and have the best staff!
I can only say Thank You! to each and every one of

you for all of the love and support I have felt over the years,
and continue to feel today. What a wonderful experience
this has been for me to stand as a witness to your growth
as you take classes, learn these life enhancing principles
and use them in your lives to create good, love and
harmony.
I have been blessed to have had three wonderful Board
Presidents as my Spiritual partners in our work together. I
want to personally thank Jack Peterson, Regina Dekker and
my beloved Wilvesta Morgan for all of the love we have
shared over the years. I can only tell you that these people
love you and hold you in prayer, just as I do. To be Board
President is to share with me in holding the vision for our
church, to fall totally in love with each of you and to
witness the wonder of God as Love and Law in action.
We are all blessed! We have always had Boards that want
the good of the Church over personal agendas, Practitioners
who pray for the Church and our Ministers daily, volunteers who serve with love and joy, and a safe place for us
all to grow. Truly, Life is good all the time!
From my heart to yours,
Rev. Kris

SACRED SATURDAYS
by David Kline, R.Sc.P.
Sacred Saturday was inspired by my visits to my grandma
when she was at a retirement home. At the time I was a
human companion with two amazingly cute Pomeranians,
Missile and Freckles. When we would go to visit Grandma,
we often would stop and see many of her neighbors. They
really appreciated our visits, and the boys (Missile and
Freckles) and I had a great time too.
When needing an idea for a class about creating a
community project, I recalled those visits and Sacred
Saturday was born. Sacred Saturdays is simply about

acknowledging, paying attention to, and being a friend for

some amazingly awesome people who live at retirement
centers.
My vision is for the congregation, and friends of the
Sanctuary for Spiritual Living, to come together for an hour
every other month to bring a bit of sunshine, smiles, and
support to the residents. We have been visiting with Jean
Blomgren and the residents of her community to the great
joy of all of us.

VISIONS IN PROGRESS
By Kellie Mulhern-Davis, President
Cinco de Mayo, OLE!
I wish to thank everyone who participated in this years
Fiesta! Your enthusiasm and willingness to play made our
annual party a great success. We know we couldnt do it
without our V.I.P. committee, but the other side of that equation is the guests, because without you there would not have
been a party!
The delightful dancers returned, the food was as mouth-

watering as ever, and the dancing- didnt we have fun with

that? Our church really knows how to have a good time!
As with all our church events, love was evident in every
aspect of the afternoon. I am always so grateful to be part of
this awesome community.
Thank you to everyone. We are amazing!
With love and enthusiasm,
Your President, Kellie Mulhern-Davis

COLD WEATHER SHELTER DINNER

Joan Anderson, R.Sc.P.
Cold Weather Shelter Dinner about 30 church members,
family, friends and our teen group came together on February
15, for our annual evening of providing dinner to the Cold
Weather Shelter. Some stayed after church to help prepare
the food for 250, to deliver to St. Marthas and then to plate
and serve the dinner and dessert while others assisted with
registration, showers, and the clothing room. We always get
a number of thank yous from those we are serving and
comments from our volunteers on how much they enjoy the
experience of helping others. Also thank yous to those that

After last years successful retreat, Rev. Kris couldnt say

no to doing it again! This year we have reserved a meeting

are interested you can make reservations at Asilomar or any

your reservations individually at the place of your choice.
You are responsible for your own meals (however, last year

is a popular vacation spot. The retreat itself is $65 (payable
to Rev. Kris) which covers the rental of the room and other
expenses.
To reserve a room at Asilomar, call 1 (888) 635-5310 and
press 2 for individual reservations or online at www.visitasilomar.com. Once you have reserved a room, please email

dunes, enjoy the grounds and just have a few days of peace
and relaxations. All of our workshops are created by
Practitioners, Ministers and professional presenters covering

working on a volunteer basis. (This is why the fee is so low.)
If you are interested in presenting please contact Rev. Kris.

Forgive... for real!

There is nothing like the power of forgiveness to free you
from the past and cause a better future. At this workshop you
will discover what forgiveness is and what it isnt. You will
learn your part in the equation (which is much simpler than
you think), and gain practical tools that immediately activate this mystical practice. Can you imagine walking through
your days with your mind free of resentments or rehashing
the past? Can you dream of being so mentally and emotionally clear that you effortlessly attract what your heart desires?
Forgiveness is the way! Join me. This workshop by guest
speaker and author Rev. Mark Anthony Lord will be presented
on Sunday, June 28 at 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. $25 love offering.
Mark Anthony Lords book, Thou Shall Not Suffer, 7 steps to a
life of JOY, will be available for sale in Harmony Hall. Mark
Anthony will show you the patterns of suffering that must
be released so true joy can be experienced and expressed.
Youll be amazed at whats in your way and how easy it is to
let it go!

ENLIGHTENED MIND BOOKSTORE

We are a vibrant, loving community and inspirational
resource for spiritual awakening and personal growth And
that is what The Enlightened Mind Bookstore is, a great
resource to the participants of our church. We stock books
based in the philosophy of the Science of Mind and Religious
Science. These include the books by Ernest Holmes, the
founder of Religious Science. These resources help provide
a basis for redefining your life, and give you a foundational
lift in your Spiritual Life. We also provide the books for the
classes given by our spiritual leaders. We primarily use the
distributor DeVorss which is metaphysical resource for books
& CDs to order books.
We have books, and CDs of inspirational music & meditations. You can also order a CD of any service just by filling
out the order card at the bookstore desk, and then we ask
the technicians to make a copy for you.
We carry the current monthly Science of Mind Magazine.
And we are lucky to have several talented artisans from our
own spiritual community that sell their wares at the bookstore; so look for that special gift at the bookstore first. Just
to mention a few: We have craft items from Laura Miles,
jewelry from Monica Gump and I have copies of hand
painted cards. David Kline Lovett has CDs of his flute music.
Pat McKee has beautiful healing crystals & rocks. Tina Meeks
CDs are available. We have so many talented church

members and people that join us for workshops and talks.

Come browse the bookstore for that special itemwaiting
just for you to discover.
The bookstore depends on volunteers to run on Sundays
and Wednesdays we need some volunteers to cover some
of these weeks it is just one week a month so if you like
books and music and meeting and helping people see
me we have simplified the process and a short session
training is available.
Speaking of volunteers, they keep the bookstore open as
a wonderful spiritual resource to our church. So much appreciation and thanks to Mary Brack, Bridget Muradian, Agnos
Dubos, and Judy Mathis for their volunteer service. We
appreciate your consistent and tireless effort and the
wonderful service you provide to our spiritual community.
On Wednesdays evenings we need volunteers to work
in the bookstore
On Sunday Mornings we have: Mary Brack, Bridget
Muradian, Agnes Dobos, and Judy Mathis.
We need Alternates to call and fill in when someone
cannot make it
Perhaps YOU can be a part of our bookstore volunteers
and contribute to your church community see me soon
Thanks to all of you for keeping the bookstore as a resource
for our community.

PRACTITIONERS CORNER
LICENSED RELIGIOUS SCIENCE PRACTITIONERS
Practitioners have been described as the healing arm of the
church. Our practitioners embrace the entire congregation with
their loving consciousness, uplifting and serving through healing
prayer treatment. Healing Prayer Treatment is the conscious,
active recognition of Spiritual presence, Spiritual Force, Spiritual
Law and Spiritual Order. When we make prayer treatment an
integral part of our lives, we experience a greater sense of order
and harmony in every aspect of our being. The Ministry of Prayer
is made up of licensed Religious Science Practitioners who are
dedicated to daily prayer treatment for those individuals who have
requested assistance. If you are experiencing a personal challenge,

you may request healing prayer treatment through our Ministry

of Prayer. The prayer box, along with prayer request envelopes, is
located in the church lobby. If you prefer to receive prayer on an
individual basis, Practitioners are available each Sunday after
service in the healing center. Treatment through the Ministry of
Prayer is offered free of charge, though your love donations and
feedback are very welcome! Remember, in God all things are
possible!
We serve life not because it is broken,
but because it is Holy! Anonymous

Treatment For June by Wendy Skarupa, R.Sc.P.

As weather patterns fluctuate throughout the month, let
us know there is that which never changes. There is a Presence
that is all powerful, all knowing, everywhere, equally present.
This is a Power for Good. The Changeless is Spirit, Divine
Intelligence, Order, Harmony, Love, and Life Itself!
I am in Perfect Union with Spirit. I allow myself to be
supported and uplifted by the Vitality of Energy flowing
through my body. I am aware of my Oneness with each one I
encounter as we share the same air, Beauty of surroundings,
and Joy of Life.
Divine Love is ever present and expresses through me
through my vibrant smile, the spring in my step, and Joy for
Life. Although Spirit is Changeless, my life and affairs shift
according to the thoughts I choose. So, as I change my
thinking, I change my life. Anything unlike Love, Joy, and

Vitality simply falls away. As days grow longer, I can choose a

Summer of work or a Summer of play. I choose to embrace
the Sun and celebrate Light. I am warmed and enlivened. I
bask in the glow of Love. I delight in the Divine Romance. I
invite Spiritual Marriage. I am at Peace.
I give thanks for knowing there is a Power for Good, and I
can use it. I give thanks knowing, without a doubt, the Creator
is active in my life and responds to my words of conviction. I
give thanks feeling the depths of how thoroughly I am loved.
I am so grateful knowing all is well.
So, with complete confidence in Divine Intelligence as my
partner in Life, I freely let go.
So It is!
Amen

Treatment For July by Terri Thayer, R.Sc.P.

God is. Two small words I use to convey the majesty, power,
love, creativity, and everlasting presence of the Divine Mind.
This Mind continues to create all I see, feel and touch. As I
stand at the end of Spring, surrounded by life renewing Itself,
I know God is.
With absolute certainty, I know I was created so this Divine
Intelligence can express Itself in infinite ways. I am one with
the opulence, creativity and love of God. In this season I call
Spring-into-Summer, everything is fresh and new and
bursting with joy and life. This season is also reflected in my
Life. I see with fresh eyes and spring forth into each day. And
just as I am One with this Divine season, I am One with
everyone and everything I see. At this time when everything
is new, I claim the gifts of this season for myself and everyone

reading this treatment.

My creative ideas are a blessing to the world. I am joy and
enthusiasm. I am guided, protected and directed by the Christ
within. My faith constantly expands because I am continually using it. I am fearless. I have boundless energy. I am a Child
of God.
With gratitude for every person, place and situation in my
life, I say, Thank you. Thank you. Thank you because I know
all things are always working together for my highest good and
I am always living my highest and best life.
With absolute faith and great exuberance, I fling these words
into the Law of God, because I know this Law can only and
always say YES! It is already so. And so it is, because God is.
