Update hwdesktop12.0AbaqusODB6.13 Installation

Instructions

HyperWorks hwdesktop12.0AbaqusODB6.13 update contains the Abaqus 6.13 ODB
reader for HyperView, HyperGraph, and HVtrans. With this update, HyperWorks
12.0 supports for the following Abaqus ODB versions:

6.10, 6.10-EF1, 6.11, 6.12, 6.13

The details are documented in the hwdesktop12.0AbaqusODB6.13 update release
notes that are located in the <install_directory>/updates/ for Windows and
<install_directory>/altair/updates/ for Linux.

Note:
Abaqus versions 6.10,6.10-EF1,6.11 6.12, 6.13 are not supported on linux 32
bit.
Abaqus version 6.13 is not supported on windows 32 bit.
hwdesktop12.0AbaqusODB6.13 is an update for HyperWorks 12.0 and not
cumulative with hwdesktop12.0.101, hwdesktop12.0.102,
hwdesktop12.0.103 and hwdesktop12.0.104. Installations of these patches
are not a prerequisite.

Package Format:

For Windows:
- hwdesktop12.0AbaqusODB6.13_win64.zip

For Linux:

- hwdesktop12.0AbaqusODB6.13_linux64.Z

Installation Instructions:

For Windows platforms ( 64-bit)

1. Make sure that the HyperWorks 12.0 desktop package is installed before
installing this update.
2. Backup the following folder if needed:
C:\Program Files\Altair\12.0\io\result_readers\bin\win64

3. Locate the installation root directory. The default installation root directory for
64-bit Windows platform is:
"C:\Program Files\Altair\12.0"

4. Download the appropriate update package

(hwdesktop12.0AbaqusODB6.13_win64.zip) and place it into the installation
root directory.
5. Extract the zip file to install the update. Follow the prompts to confirm
overwrite of the existing files and folders.

Note that you will need to provide Administrative access for this operation if using
Windows Vista or Windows 7 and User Access Control (UAC) is active.

For Linux platform (64-bit)

1. Make sure that the HyperWorks 12.0 desktop package is installed before
installing this update.
2. Locate the installation root directory. The default installation root directory for
Linux platform ends in 12.0. For example:
"/home/user/12.0
3. Download the Linux 64 update package
(hwdesktop12.0AbaqusODB6.13_linux64.Z ) and place it into the /altair
directory of the existing 12.0 installation. Note that this directory is one level
below the installation root directory:
For example
"/home/user/12.0/altair
6. Backup the following folder if needed:
<install_dir>/altair/io/result_readers/bin/linux64_intel
<install_dir>/altair/io/result_readers/bin/linux64

4. Use one of the following commands to extract files:

zcat hwdesktop12.0AbaqusODB6.13_linux64.Z | tar xvf
tar -xvzf hwdesktop12.0AbaqusODB6.13_linux64.Z

Be sure that permissions are set appropriately to allow installation of the package.
