1. Tooth alone (loose tooth) is present, without the socket.
2. Tooth is present and in situ or can be fit into socket.
3. Tooth is unerupted or partially erupted and is in situ.
4. Antemortem loss of tooth (crown); alveolus was resorbing or is fully resorbed.
5. Postmortem loss; tooth socket/crypt only (if evidence of bony reaction is present, enter in pathology section).
6. Tooth is congenitally absent (confirm on radiographs and by examining adjacent teeth for absence of interproximal wear
facets).
