7. Problem Statement

Key findings on the basis of various parameters like vendor selection, financial terms, stock
assessment, logistics (transportation & warehousing), promotion strategies, positioning, and
product mix & merchandising of a company has been done.
Big bazaar have positioned themselves as a retail store which offers variety of good quality
products at best prices (isse sasta aur acha kahi nahi ).Big bazaar offers variety of brands
in different segments like apparels, luggage, accessories, consumer durables, home
entertainments(CDs, DVDs, etc ), electronics(laptops ,mobiles, cameras, etc),.Sales
promotion and advertisements are the two main promotion strategies which Big Bazaar
adopts . Big Bazaar has their own form for vendor selection. Margins on branded products

are maximum upto 15% and on non branded/local brands are upto 50%. Big bazaar made
payment to their vendors on the credit limit of 3 to 12 weeks by cheque.
8. Methodology to be used

Various methods have been used for the collection of data for the project. Primary data
has been collected through interview and questionnaire. Data in respect to many
parameters such as vendor selection, financial terms, stock assessment, logistics
(transport & warehouse), sourcing, minimum order size have been collected by primary
research.
Data such as company background, policies, guarantee scheme & offers have been
collected by secondary research.
Primary data has been collected by visiting Big Bazaar at Sahara mall & Ambience mall
situated at Gurgaon meeting Mr. Amit Bisht an asst. store manager, Mr. Mukesh Yadav,
a warehouse incharge and Mr. Gulab Singh (Team leader) of a warehouse and Mr.
Dharmender ( Area sales manager/ Institutional sales incharge) of Savour India pvt.
Ltd. one of the vendors of Big Bazaar.
