March/April 1992

Dear Co-Workers,

God has provided once again an opportunity to^dvance His^workat Chrlstianville and help our brothers and ^
sisters in Christ In Haiti. Chrlstianville has received a gracious donation of an empty container to be loaded
with needed supplies, travel by tractor-trailer to Miami and shipped to Haiti. But, we cannot take advantage

of this opportunity without your help. Supplies are needed for all areas of the mission. (Churches, schools,
farm, clinics, office, etc.) The container must be shipped by May, so we will be busy searching, gathering,
and collecting In the next 3 months.

Can you help us make the most of this Blessing?

Enclosed is a list of needs from all the departments at Chrlstianville. Some items you or others you may
know may have stored away in the garage or attic with intentions of giving it away someday. Other items
may be things that might be donated at work or through a friend. You may want to help with a donation for
a particular item on the list. If you would like to help purchase a particular Item, simply designate your gift

and mail it to our central office in Daytona: Chrlstianville, PO Box 4157, South Dai^ona, 32121. We will
purchase It here and load it on the container.

If you can help us find the needed items, we ask only that you ship it to the Atlanta address enclosed.

Shipping to Haiti has been covered. Please help us organize and plan appropriately by letting us know at
the earliest date possible how you would like to help. Simply call or write Terry and Daye Poll, our contact
couple, who will be helping to organize collecting and loading in Atlanta. (Address below)
NoWjjnore than ever, our Haitian brethrenwijl need whatever help we can give. God continues to provide

News from Haiti:

Necessities have been tight lately, but Christianvllle Is able to continue with supplies on hand. Wayne was
home for 2 weeks the end of January. There is not enough room to expound on the joy that broughtour
entire family. It was hard to see him leave. Mike Davidson has returned home for his daughter, Christie's,
wedding and to reunite with his wife, Pam for a short period. He will return the middle part of March.

A shipping company has been located to ship this container to Haiti. This is a true Praise as very few boats
are even going to Haiti. Pray for Haiti as her leaders strive to arrive at a peaceful solution. Your prayers
and letters have meant a lot to all of us. We have felt God's love through your kindness. Thank You!
Yours in Christ,

Dear Faithful Friends,

The work of Christ continues despite the efforts of Satan.

Revival services
were held at the Jean-Jean, Petit Boucan and Ti Cousin churches.
The church
buildings were packed every night, people were also standing outside as the
gospel was preached.
Revival services were held at Cite Soleil Church too
and attendance averaged 600 nightly. One Sunday evening the attendance

reach^d_1200.

Out of these services 26 accepted the Lord and were baptize<^.

Our schools continue to function and the school year has been extended
through July 15, 1992.
The children continue to be fed and are hearing the
Gospel at Chapel services.
We are hopeful that VBS will be effective again
this year even though we do not have any teams coming in to help with them.
This places a greater load on our staff, but like in the past they will rise
to the challenge and accomplish the tasks that need to be done
WE HAVE A

GREAT HAITIAN

STAFF!!

Wayne and Chris proudly announce the birth of their son Matthew Charles on
May 23, 1992.
Matthew weighed in at 8 pounds 5 ounces and was 21 inches
long.
They have purchased a home in Senoria, GA and will be living there.
In April 1991 at the annual board meeting, as we had previously announced,
Wayne announced his resignation as managing director, asking to be replaced
as soon as possible.
Rick Land has stepped forward and agreed to be acting

manager until the board can find a full time director.

With Rick*s
announcement, the Executive Board at the 1992 April meeting was able to grant
Wayne's request.
We want to express our thanks to Wayne for the work he has
done for Christianville during these difficult times.
-Rick acceptedtheLord and was -baptisedat the - age of 12 during a rev-ival
meeting at the church where he attended.
He was raised in a Christian home
and always has had a desire to serve the Lord.
He is a businessman,
carpenter and farmer.
He has been an elder, chairman of the board, Sunday
school teacher, chaplin in the Gideons and leader in Youth for Christ. He is
a member of the Cornerstone Christian Church in Brownsburg, Indiana.
His

minister in recommending Rick rated him as "Highly motivated to serve God".

Rick and his wife, Kathy began in 1988 making missionary tips to Haiti.
In
1989 Rick and Kathy joined the staff at Christianville where he managed the
farm program.
We ask for your prayers as he assumes this additional
responsibility.

The container has been filled and soon to be shipped!

School supplies,
medicine, food and numerous items filled i t to over flowing.
We again want
to express our gratitude for the generosity of all those making this
possible. In addition to these supplies, IDES has made possible the purchase
of 120,000 pounds of rice that has already been shipped to Haiti to be
distributed among the Christian Church mission works in Haiti.
His Seed
Sowers and Christianville have worked together to accomplish this project.
The need is so great, we keep receiving reports from all areas of Haiti of
deaths due to malnutrition.
One missionary has reported of food ready for
shipment, but because of the embargo they could not ship it.

Dr Leever continues his work in the dental clinic as he spent time in Haiti
last month. Dick Gibbons and Otis Palmer, Christianville board members, just
returned from a work trip.
We had a group from Illinois that were a great
help in catching up on the backlog of
jobs that needed to be done.
We are
in need of work teams to help with continual tasks at the mission.
Even
though the political situation is unstable, we believe there is no immediate

danger for people going to Haiti.

WE REALLY NEED YOU NOW!

It is because of you that the work can move forward in reaching the Haitians
with the Gospel and providing them with a hope for the future. Thank you for
your faithful support.

Dear Christian Friends,

Many people

feel that way.

say

"nothing

ever

changes".

We

at

Not all changes that we see are good,

like changes in the democratic system or the embargo.

Many people are
suffering from mal-nourishment, starvation and rising prices.
Life is more
stressful now for Haitians than ever before.

I t is an excellent time for us

to be working in this country, not only to feed the physical needs, but to
feed hungry souls. The church feels no persecution. We are even encouraged
to do our work.
We are only limited by our own resources and personnel.
Most of this challenge is due to our growing and diverse programs, said to be
one of the finest in Haiti.
Christianville is used by many as an example of
what can be done.
It has been the inspiration for many other missionaries to

build upon.
We have a heavy responsibility to maintain and continue our
program.
We pray that you will find it worthy of your support.
We are watching little children develop into young adults.
It is
exciting to see them change. Their future will be much brighter because they
can read and make decisions, something most of their parents cannot do.
Jerome is developing an excellent Christian education program for the coming
school year.
We will have 176 students in high school this fall.
Many of
you have faithfully sponsored the same child since the first grade. We hope
you will someday meet your child personally so you can rejoice in the
difference you have made in a human life.
Be in prayer for the
future of
these young people and for their decisions to serve God.

first

Ti Boucan, the mountain Church, has just finished another revival. The
night saw at least 1000 people in attendance.
Raymond closed the

services with an estimated 2000

in attendance and we saw six people come to

into Christ.

This year we will be doing our own VBS without any American helpers.
The Haitian staff and their families are going into over-drive to
hundreds of kids from five churches to experience the thrill of VBS.

allow
This

will require three intensive weeks.

Keep the staff in prayer. Many of the
older high school students will be teaching.
We're glad to provide this
training ground for them to begin working for God.
Christian teenagers in
Haiti are proud to represent Christ by singing or witnessing.
They enjoy
attending revivals and seminars.
In a country that doesn't offer much hope
and future, we're able to introduce Jesus, who "gives them a future and a
hope".
On a

recent afternoon we visited many of the elderly in the area.

Our

purpose was to check their needs and to pray and sing with them.
Despite
their impoverished conditions, they all sang and gave glory to God.
It was
a very humbling and rewarding time spent with these forgotten people of
Haiti.

Such an experience reminds us why we came to this country.

Although school is out for summer vacation, the feeding program

continues. The large garden behind the school is providing some vegetables,
not only for the school children, but for the 100 old people who eat at he
nutrition center.
We are grateful that we are able to give our kids fish,
meat, and eggs from the farm.
Presently, the fish pond is dry, awaiting a
new batch of fingerlings (baby fish).
We are able to grow many pounds of
fish each year as a result of a unique system of using by-products from the
hogs and chickens to feed the pond.
We thank God and those missionaries
before us who worked at creating such a pleasant facility to work at!

Present prayer needs: (1) Pastor David who has a severe heart problem.
(2) More permanent missionary staff.
(3) New truck. (4) Conversions at all
six churches.

(5) VBS.

We at Christianville

sincerely

thank

you

for

your

various means

of

support. If you see any opportunity for us to tell others about the work at
Christianville, please write,

or call us.
