Introduction

If we would take a look at it from the past, todays kind of education has
dramatically changed. From Platos founding the Academy, we now have hundreds
of thousands of schools established all around the world. Compared to that of the
olden days, the knowledge we possess today has been, and is, still continuously
increasing. Compared to the number of teachers and scholars we had in the past,
we now have thousands of millions of students and teachers teaching and studying
worldwide. Mankind is now approaching its peak. Many changes have been made in
our education system since the past few decades, but the change that became very
much noticeable is in todays modern system is that, students no longer value
knowledge. Education today is seen as the door that will lead us to that world
where everything will just be as how we imagined it to be. Where we all had a stable
job, a loving family, supporting friends a perfect life. We see education as the rope
that will be handed to us while we are slowly sinking in the quicksand of poverty. If
we would compare the students hundreds of years ago and the students we have
today, we will see a great difference in the knowledge they possess, the way they
behave towards learning, and the way they see and treat education. What most
students do today is sit on the chair, memorize everything and forget them later on.
This has made todays education system very questionable and up until now, we are
still trying to find a way toimprove the education system we have today.
One of the most prominent issues we have today is the impact of homework and
course requirements on the learning process of the students. Generally, these of
course, are meant to help better the quality of education and the approach of
learning towards the students. But are these methods really helpful or do they just
serve as hindrances? Some students may find homework fun and enjoyable while
some my not really give it much importance, but the question is, can these really
affect a students academic performance. The attitude of the student towards
his/her subject and teacher may, as well, affect a students class standing.
In this study, the researchers want to prove how effective homework and course
requirements can be with respect to the students academic achievement. Many
students, and we ourselves, lack information on how homework and course
requirements affect the learning process, and hopefully, the outcome of this
research will give us, just even the slightest hint of what it really does.
