1. INTRODUCTION
1.1 General
String
The Traxon String system accomplishes complex, unconventional media configurations with intelligence and
style. Sophisticated, scalable, and semi-transparent, String systems alter and enhance architectural, retail, and
hospitality environments adding unexpected character to classic scenarios. Available in full color (RGB), with or
without a diffuser dome, String gracefully incorporates graphics, text, and video into various, irregular surfaces,
resulting in unordinary media displays never before possible. String is controllable by DMX512 and e:pix/DVI input
signals, and Smart Chip technology and intelligent software allow maximum control of even the most intricate
media scenarios. Warm White and Cold White options are also available upon request.
Features:
Flexible mounting capability
Low-to-medium resolution media (graphics, text and video animations)
Outdoor rating (IP67 - String, IP66 - Pixel Distributor)
Smart Chip technology
Auto-addressing

Mesh
Mesh systems reinvent the large-scale media experience. The sophisticated, scalable, semi-transparent LED
system elegantly transforms any surface into a brilliant palette for graphics, text, and video animations in full color
(RGB). Meshs semi-transparent, durable yet flexible structure, allows it to adapt to many surfaces in various
applications, in both indoor and outdoor environments. Its acrylic grid system can also be mounted back-to-back
for dual displays, allowing bright graphics to shine, and natural light to pass through without obstructing a view or
diminishing an open-area concept. Mesh is controllable by DMX512 and e:pix/DVI input signals, and Smart Chip
technology and intelligent software allow maximum control of even the most intricate media scenarios. Warm White
and Cold White options are also available upon request.
Features:

2. installation
2.1 Points To Consider

Plan your installation before mounting the String or Mesh. The following should be considered for a successful
installation.
Installation distances and appropriate cable lengths. Please consult your local Traxon office or authorized
agent for necessary aid.
The number of Strings or Mesh, Pixel Distributors and appropriate LED Engines.
Any DMX512 controllers to be used with the products.

2.1.1 Installation Checklist

1. Prepare cables and all necessary accessories.

2. Perform functional check of Strings/Mesh.
3. Ensure all pre-installation checks laid out below have been followed.
4. Mount the Strings or Mesh on-site. If the installation is to be left uncompleted overnight, place all nonconnected LED Engines and String or Mesh in an indoor environment.
Ensure all the Interconnection Cables, String or Mesh and LED Engines are initially stored in a dry area to
guarantee the complete sealing of the system from water before installation.

2.2 Pre-Installation Checks

2.2.1 Requirements Of Cable Bending

To reduce stress induced on String/Mesh lead cables, please adhere to the Minimum Bending Radius and Non-Bendable
Length of 20mm (0.79). The Non-Bendable Length applies to the cable by the connector and the dot (see FIG 1).

NOTE: Water ingress incurred due to cable twisting or excess cable bending will not be under warranty by Traxon
Technologies.

2.2.2 Installation Sequence

1. Plan for any possible bending of cables (see above).

2. Measure the correct distances to mount the Strings/Mesh units to keep a consistent pitch.
3. Secure Pixel Distributors in the desired position and connect Strings.
CAUTION: Do not lift Strings by the lead cables as this may damage the cables.

4. For Mesh, secure Pixel Distributors and Mounting Wires in the desired location and connect Mesh units.
CAUTION: Do not lift Mesh units by the lead cables as this may damage the cables.

5. Connect Strings/Mesh units as described in the Wiring Diagram (P.17-20).

6. Perform functional check on all Strings/Mesh and inspect cables and Mounting Wires for any damage. Check
for any abnormalities with the control signal.

7. Report any functional defect found to your nearest Traxon Technologies office.22.5mm/0.9

and lightning surge.
Product Earthing
a. The exposed metal of the product body (eg. wire clips of Pixel Distributor) should be earthed with
resistance less than 1 ohm to the Master Ground according to the
ANSI/ESD S6.1 and IEEE standard 142-1982 requirement.
Mesh or Mechanical Fixture Earthing
a. All the mesh or mechanical fixture (eg. wire stoppers and stainless steel Mounting Wires) to fix the
product should be earthed with less than 1 ohm resistance to Master Ground.
Shielding of the cable
a. Data Cables or Power Cables of length longer than 10m or Cables to be mounted on Roof Top
Area should be shielded to protect the cable from picking up the induced surge from outside
environment.
b. The shielding resistance to the Master Ground should be less than 1 ohm.
System working environment requirement
a. Traxon product complies with IEC 61000 Power Surge and Fast Transient Test requirements.
b. Contractor should ensure that the ambient environment should comply with IEC 61000
requirements.
PSU and Data Control System Rack Earthing
a. All the racks for PSU and Data Control System should be properly earthed with less than 1 ohm
resistance to Master Ground.
b. Use short and thick wiring when connecting the equipment to earth ground on the equipment rack
to assure safety and prevent noise and leakage current.

It is highly recommended that proper surge protection is implemented into the final installation. See FIG 7 (P. 15) for
wiring details.

to these instructions could result in serious injury or property damage.

Do not use product(s) if cables are damaged.
Do not connect cables and connectors when wet or in wet area. Moisture on bare connectors can cause
electric shock and damage to product(s).
Do not use product(s) in extreme heat environment. Ensure there is sufficient airflow and use cool air circulation if
required.
Do not drop, knock, or shake product(s). Rough handling can damage the electronics and void the warranty.
Do not use harsh chemicals, cleaning solvents, or strong detergents to clean products. Wipe with a damp cloth
on housings and a dry cloth on electronics to remove dirt or dust.
Do not attempt to service or repair the product(s) unless done by an authorized service personnel. Contact your
local Traxon office or distributor for details.

(PS.OA.0010000) power units.
As with all electronic devices, LED output degrades over time - a term called lumen depreciation. This also
explains why it is nearly impossible to expect photometric performances of two LED products with different service
life spans to be the same. The rate of LED degradation is a complex function of many factors such as operating
efficiency, duration of continuous operation, and operating conditions (e.g. ambient temperature).
Because LEDs are semiconductor devices, their performances are subject to inherent variability commonly found
in semiconductor industry. To improve consistency in performance across the same product. LED manufacturers
sort LEDs into bins according to different preset parameters, such as forward driving voltage, illumination, etc.
Whereas binning is a sorting function, it is not a correction process. Inherent variability in the manufacturing
process always results in different binning distributions according to different production lots. Traxon uses
automatically binned LEDs on its products, thereby minimizing output variations within the model range.
