1. INTRODUCTION
1.1 General
String
The Traxon String system accomplishes complex, unconventional media configurations with intelligence and
style. Sophisticated, scalable, and semi-transparent, String systems alter and enhance architectural, retail, and
hospitality environments adding unexpected character to classic scenarios. Available in full color (RGB), with or
without a diffuser dome, String gracefully incorporates graphics, text, and video into various, irregular surfaces,
resulting in unordinary media displays never before possible. String is controllable by DMX512 and e:pix/DVI input
signals, and Smart Chip technology and intelligent software allow maximum control of even the most intricate
media scenarios. Warm White and Cold White options are also available upon request.
Features:
Flexible mounting capability
Low-to-medium resolution media (graphics, text and video animations)
Outdoor rating (IP67 - String, IP66 - Pixel Distributor)
Smart Chip technology
Auto-addressing
Mesh
Mesh systems reinvent the large-scale media experience. The sophisticated, scalable, semi-transparent LED
system elegantly transforms any surface into a brilliant palette for graphics, text, and video animations in full color
(RGB). Meshs semi-transparent, durable yet flexible structure, allows it to adapt to many surfaces in various
applications, in both indoor and outdoor environments. Its acrylic grid system can also be mounted back-to-back
for dual displays, allowing bright graphics to shine, and natural light to pass through without obstructing a view or
diminishing an open-area concept. Mesh is controllable by DMX512 and e:pix/DVI input signals, and Smart Chip
technology and intelligent software allow maximum control of even the most intricate media scenarios. Warm White
and Cold White options are also available upon request.

2.1 Points To Consider
Plan your installation before mounting the String or Mesh. The following should be considered for a successful
installation.
Installation distances and appropriate cable lengths. Please consult your local Traxon office or authorized
agent for necessary aid.
The number of Strings or Mesh, Pixel Distributors and appropriate LED Engines.
Any DMX512 controllers to be used with the products.

To reduce stress induced on String/Mesh lead cables, please adhere to the Minimum Bending Radius and Non-Bendable
Length of 20mm (0.79). The Non-Bendable Length applies to the cable by the connector and the dot (see FIG 1).

The String Dot Clip can be used in various ways. It can be used to mount horizontally or vertically on an installation
surface. Using a combination of Top and Bottom clips, the String can be mounted on a 15mm DIN rail. With a
combination of Top and Bottom clips, the dots of the Strings can be dovetailed together for a tighter pixel pitch.
The Top clip can also be used independently. See FIG 2 for the different options.

1. Mount Pixel Distributor to installation surface via included mounting brackets. It is recommended to have the
connectors facing down. Remove wire clips from Pixel Distributor before attaching to mounting bracket (see FIG 3).
Mounting on wall with bracket
2. Connect String lead cable to output connector of Pixel Distributor. NOTE: Once connected, lower the String
gently to avoid damaging lead cables.
If surface mounting is required for String via the String Dot Clip (see 2.2.3 String Dot Clip, P. 7), secure the
dots before connecting the lead cable.
Tightening Torque:
0.48~0.69Nm (5~7kgfcm)
3. Connect lead cables from Strings to Pixel Distributor and daisy chain Pixel Distributors and power supplies as
described in Wiring Diagram (FIGs 9-10, P.17-18).
4. Any Data and Power cables leading to/from internal power supply units or signal control units have to be installed
through conduits/trunking.
5. Start up each unit and verify correct function.

Always maintain connection to ensure waterproofing.
If the product has been subjected to drastic temperature variances, for example, following transportation, do not
connect the fixture until it has reached room temperature, as moisture condensation may cause electric shock
and product damages.
When installing the products and system power supplies, please ensure they will not be exposed to moisture
and extreme heat (and direct sunlight for outdoor products). Besides, keep a clean operating environment for
the fixtures and system power supplies.
Please study this Installation Guide thoroughly and check the latest Technical Specification Sheets available from the
Traxon website www.traxontechnologies.com before setup.
Any non-compliance of the Installation Guide will void the Traxon warranty.

As with all electronic devices, LED output degrades over time - a term called lumen depreciation. This also
explains why it is nearly impossible to expect photometric performances of two LED products with different service
life spans to be the same. The rate of LED degradation is a complex function of many factors such as operating
efficiency, duration of continuous operation, and operating conditions (e.g. ambient temperature).
Because LEDs are semiconductor devices, their performances are subject to inherent variability commonly found
in semiconductor industry. To improve consistency in performance across the same product. LED manufacturers
sort LEDs into bins according to different preset parameters, such as forward driving voltage, illumination, etc.
Whereas binning is a sorting function, it is not a correction process. Inherent variability in the manufacturing
process always results in different binning distributions according to different production lots. Traxon uses
automatically binned LEDs on its products, thereby minimizing output variations within the model range.
