CONNECTION OF DIGITAL COMMUNICATOR TO 2000 SYSTEM,

USING 2000C PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARD
The Scantronic '9056' and compatible Digital Communicators, Red Care STUs, etc. plug directly onto
the 2000 Series End Stations, taking care to ensure that all pins are correctly aligned; noting that
certain End Stations have additional pins reserved for alternative applications.
Almost any other Digital Communicator or Red Care STU may be fitted, using a 2000C printed circuit
board to interface all the appropriate connections. Locating holes are provided which align with
most communicators currently available. Two versions of this pcb are available, one suitable for use
with 2700 or 2200* End Stations, the other for 2300 or 2500* End Stations and should be ordered
accordingly. (* see notes on page 2)

2000C Installation Instructions

SPECIAL NOTES:
OUTPUT signals are +5v in alarm to trigger the communicator, and are un-buffered. Most
communicators will accept a +5v trigger, but some units require a minimum of 12 volts. In this case,
the use of the relay triggers of a 2000R interface is recommended. If the Communicator is to be
separately housed, the outputs MUST be buffered - either by the use of the 2000R interface, or by
adding a 'DCIF' to the system (which also provides conversion to +12v signals).
INPUTS are configured to accept +5v to +12v signals, either via the terminals, or via the DAC port.
SUPPLY connections should NOT be used for any purpose other than the powering of a
communicating device.

COMMUNICATOR TESTING:
The 2000 Series Diagnostic routines include a COMMNICATOR TEST routine. In 2300 and 2700 systems
fitted Master Keypad software prior to issue 2.7, also 2200/2200L systems, this triggers all channels
simultaneously, and may not be suitable for testing a 'live' communicator. Other 2000 Series controls
permit separate control of each output individually, and are suitable for testing with a 'live'
communicator, as well as with a 2000D test PCB.
Alternatively, a communicator test may be performed by initiating a full alarm on the system.
Voltages should NOT be applied to the communicator input terminals whilst connected to the
alarm system, whether for test or any other purposes, or damage will result. Inputs should be
temporarily disconnected in order to perform such a test.

WIRING INFORMATION FOR DIGITAL COMMUNICATORS:

USE WITH 2200 / 2500 SYSTEMS

2200 End Stations, if housed in SMALL box may only be fitted with 2000C interface if fitted 1 AMP
power supply. In this case, 2700 version should be used. If housed in LARGE box, 2300 version
interface should be used, whichever power supply is fitted.
2500 End Stations MUST be ordered in the LARGER housing if to be used with a 2000C interface, and
the 2300 version should be used.

2000R INTERFACE
This alternative to the 2000C provides a clean contact relay interface for INTRUDER, PA and SET
outputs only, with a full set of inputs, along with a buffered 'DAC' port, as described on page 1.
Relays may be re-configured as required.
