Fire, Loan and enemy traces, even if they remain in small amount, they grow
back repeatedly
Hence finish them without leaving a trace

Sukhaarthi tyajate vidyam vidhyaarthi tyajate sukham |
sukhartheenaha kuto vidyaa kuto vidhyaartheena sukham ||
Luxury people leave knowledge, But a student leaves Luxury
No knowledge for one who seeks Luxury, No luxury for student

Na Abhisheko, Na Samskraha; Simhasya kriyate vanae


Vikramarjita satvasya svayameva mrugendrata
There is no official coronation ceremony held to declare lion king of jungle
He becomes king by his own attributes and heroic actions

Vanaani dahaato vanhe sakhaa bhavati maarutaha
sa eva deepa naashaaya krushae kasyasti sahrudam
When forests are on fire, wind becomes it's ally

The same wind is also responsible to extinguish a small lamp


The moral is, if one does not have power/wealth, one does not have friends
either. People will only support you if you are powerful or else they will destroy
you

Astadashapuranaanam saaram vyasena keerthitam
paropakaraha punyaya, paapaya parapeeditam
In all the eighteen puranas, sage vyasa emphasizes ony two moral precepts
Rendering service to people is merit and harassing them is evil

Na chora haaryam, na cha raja haaryam, na bhaatr bhaajyam, na
bharakaari
Vyayam krute vardhat evam nityam vidhyadhanam sarvadhana
pradhanam
Cannot be snatched away by theif, cannot be snatched away by
king, Cannot be divided among brothers,
Not heavy either
If spent daily, it always keeps growing. The wealth of knowledge is
the precious of wealth of all

Taaraa naam bhushanam chandro naareenaam bhushanam patihi

pruthivyaa bhushanam raajaa vidyaa sarvasya bhushanam ||
Stars are moon's ornament. Husband is the ornament for a women
King is the ornament for earth. Knowledge is the ornament for
everyone

Vidvatvam cha nrupatvam cha naiva tulyam kadaachana |
Swadeshe poojyatee raajaa vidvaan sarvatra poojyatee ||

King is worshiped in his own land where as a leaned man is
worshiped everywhere

Vidyaa dadaati vinayam vinayaadyaati patrataam |
paatratvaa dhanamaapnoti dhanaad dharmam tataha sukham ||
Hitopadesha
Through knowledge, one obtains humbleness. Through
humbleness comes eligibility
Once eligible comes wealth. Wealth can be utilized to perform
good deeds (dharma).
Good deeds lead to happiness

vidyaa nama narasya roopa madhikam prachhanna guptam

dhanam
vidyaa bhogakari yashaha sukakari vidyaa gurunaam guruhu
vidyaa bandhujano videshagamane vidya param daivatam
vidyaa rajasu poojyate nahi dhanam vidyaa viheenaha pashuhu ||

Knowledge is human's extra beauty. It's a hidden treasure. Through knowledge, one can enjoy different happiness. It brings success and
also the guru of guru. During foreign visit, knowledge is our kin. Only knowledge is worshiped and not wealth. One who doesn't posses this
knowledge is truly an animal



Naasti vidya samo bandhuhu, naasti vidya samah sahrut
Naasti vidya samam vittam naasti vidya samam sukham
There is no relative equivalent to knowledge, there is no friend
equivalent to knowledge
There is no wealth equivalent to knowledge, there is no happiness
equivalent to knowledge


kaamdenu guna vidya hrakaale phaladya yini
pravaase maatrusa dshi vidya guptam dhana smrutam
Knowledge has characterisitc like "Kamadhenu" which grants all
the wishes
During travel (journey), knowledge takes care like mother. Thus
knowledge is considered as a hidden wealth

Vidya vivadaaya Dhanam madaaya shaktihi pareshaam paripeedanaaya
khalasyaha saadhoh vipareetam etad gnanaaya daanaya cha rakshanaaya
Wicked person uses knowledge only for the sake of arguments
His wealth renders him egotistic and his energy is wasted merely to torment others.
The opposite is true of a saintly person. His knowledge is used for good purposes
His wealth is used to donate it to others and his might is used to protect the weak

Mrudulam navaneeta meeritam, navaneetaa dapi sajjanasya hrut
tadida dravati svata panaath, parataa paadravate sataam punaha

Butter exceeds softness. But noble man's heart is more soft.
Butter melts when the temperature raises for itself.
But noble man's heart melt even when temperature raises for others
Meaning: A noble man worries for others problem also

Durbalasya balam raja, baalanam rodhanam balam
balam moorkhasya mounitvam, chouranaam anrutam balam
The strength of weak people is a king. The strength of child is crying.
The strength of idiot is silence. The strength of thief is Lie.

kusuma stabakasyeva dwayee vrutthir manasvinah


Moorndhi va sarvalokasya visheeryat vane thava
People with high self respect have only two stages like flowers
Either they should be on top of the world or just shrivel away


Sthaanam Utsrujya gacchanti Simhaaha satpurusha gajaaha |
Tatra eva nidhanam yaanti Kaakaha kapurusha mrugaaha ||
The lions, elephants and the virtuous people with high self-esteem quit their
position immediately once their esteem is hurt. The crows, cats and the
vicious people wish to continue in the same position

Priyavakyapradanena sarve tushyanti janatavah


Tasmattadeva vaktavyam vachane ka daridrata
All living creatures love listening sweet words.
So in that case, why poverty of sweet words?



Lakshmir vasathi jih vaagre jih vaagre mitra baandhavaah
jih vaagre bandhanam praaptam jih vaagre maranam dhruvam
Lakshmi (Goddess of wealth) resides in tongue. Friends and Relatives resides
as well
Through tongue bonding occurs. Through tongue death can also be granted
Moral: If we speak good, we can earn wealth, friends and good relatives. But if we speak bad,
even death can happen

Santoshah paramo laabhah satsangah param gatih
vicharah param gnanam kshame parmam sukham
Happiness is the highest gain, nobel company is highest achievement
Questioning is highest knowledge, forgiveness is highest enjoyment

Ashwam naiva, Gajam naiva, Vyagram naiva cha
Ajaputram balim dadhatu devo durbala ghatakaha

Not horse, not elephant, not tiger, but only the lamb is sacrificed in a ritual.
God also does not protect weak
