INTERESTING SELECTION TESTS

WAB The Western Aphasia Battery (Shewan & Kertesz, 1980) was designed to provide a
means of evaluating the major clinical aspects of language function: content, fluency,
auditory comprehension, repetition and naming plus reading, writing and calculation.

TAT - The Thematic Apperception Test (TAT) is a projective psychological test. Proponents
of

this technique assert that a person's responses reveal underlying motives, concerns, and

the way they see the social world through the stories they make up about ambiguous pictures
of people.

SELF REPORT INVENTORY - A self-report inventory is a type of psychological


test often used in personality assessment. This type of test is often presented in a
paper-and-pencil format or may even be administered on a computer. A typical self report
inventory presents a number of questions or statements that may or may not describe
certain qualities or characteristics of the test subject.

THOMAS PROFILING - Thomas PPA is a forced choice positive instrument used as a means
to describe an individual in a self-referential way. Based on the DISC theory, the PPA may
provide information of importance and value to employers making personnel decisions.

PA REFERENCE INVENTORY It is questionnaire which asks you to rate how much or


how little you agree with a particular statement about yourself.

BELBIN TEAM ROLE Used to identify peoples behavioral strength and weakness in the
workplace.

GORDON INVRNTORY Identify the degree to which the candidate possesses the
personality based competencies necessary for success in the job.

MYERS BRIGGS INDICATOR It is a psychometric questionnaire to measure


psychological preference on how people perceive the word and make decision used in
pedagogy, career counseling, team building, and group dynamics.

META MOTIVATION - Metamotivation is a term coined by Abraham Maslow to describe


the motivation of people who are self actualized and striving beyond the scope of their basic
needs to reach their full potential. Maslow suggested that people are initially motivated by a
series of basic needs, called the hierarchy of needs. Maslow states, "Self-actualizing people

are gratified in all their basic needs (of belongingness, affection, respect, and self

esteem)". Once a person has successfully navigated the hierarchy of needs thus satisfying all
their basic needs, Maslow proposed they then travel "a path called growth motivation".

GUILFORD ZIMMERMAN - . The Guilford-Zimmerman Temperament Survey (GZTS) is


a personality test measuring normal personality developed by J. P. Guilford and Wayne S.
Zimmerman in 1948. It is currently marketed by Pearson Assessments.

MINNESOTA MULTIPHASE - The Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) is


the most widely used and researched standardized psychometric test of
adult personality and psychopathology. Psychologists and other mental health professionals use
various versions of the MMPI to develop treatment plans; assist with differential diagnosis;
help answer legal questions (forensic psychology); screen job candidates during the personnel
selection process; or as part of a therapeutic assessment procedure. The original MMPI, first
published by the University of Minnesota Press in 1943, was replaced by an updated version,
the MMPI-2, in 1989.

KUDER PREFERENCE RECORD The Kuder Preference Record was one of the first interest
inventories. It had 168 three choice of items focusing on vocational interest which returned
scores on ten scales which were claimed to measure such areas as artistic, clerical, mechanical
and scientific interest. On this basis suitable careers could be discussed with respondents.
The Kuder Occupational Interest Survey (The Kuder) is a self-report vocational interest
test used for vocational guidance and counseling. It originated in the work of G.Frederic Kuder
who first began phblishing on the instrument in 1959. The Kuder is often compared to other
vocational interest tests. Such as The Strong Interest Inventory. Whereas the Strong
compares the interest of the person to those of certain groups of people holding certain
occupations, the Kuder focuses on measuring the persons broad areas of interest. Thus, the
Kuder will yield the persons scores along ten vocational interest scales

16PF - The Sixteen Personality Factor Questionnaire (or 16PF),[1] is a multiplechoice personality questionnaire which was developed over several decades of research
by Raymond B. Cattell, Maurice Tatsuoka and Herbert Eber. The 16PF can be used as a clinical
instrument to help diagnose mental disorders as well as being widely used in other areas

of psychology.[2] Beginning in the 1940s, Cattell used the new techniques of factor
analysis (based on the correlation coefficient) in an attempt to try to discover and measure
the fundamental source traits of human personality (Cattell, 1946)(Nevid, 2009). The
questionnaire measures the 16 primary traits, and the Big Five secondary traits, which have
become popularized by other authors in recent years.

BENNET MECHANICAL - The Bennett Mechanical Test is used to identify individuals

with good mechanical reasoning abilities and spatial perception. The test measures a
person's ability to understand and implement his/her knowledge of physical and mechanical
