Madigans Pub & Grill:

Parties - large & small we can handle them all!

By Lynda Zimmerman

More than a local bar, Madigans Pub and Grill is a popular

gathering place for families,
sports fans and community
guests. Its location in the heart
of town, right under the water
tower, is indicative of its central
position in the life of Maple
Lake.
Menu
Noted for its traditional Irish
fare on St. Patricks Day, Madigans menu also includes AllAmerican favorites from burgers
and wraps to calzones and pizza,
with 2-3 daily specials and
homemade soups from scratch.
Wednesdays are Steak Night with
hand-cut Sterling Silver Choice
Prime Rib and hand-cut fresh
Sterling Silver steaks, while

Reuben and Rachel sandwiches

are Thursday lunch specials. Pizzas are crafted with a homemade
crust and sauce; their Seafood
Pizza is a good catch, while
appetizers and wings are also
popular menu items. Everybody has their own favorite!
Madigans offers a big menu, but
accommodates suggestions and
often introduces new items proposed by patrons, cook and wait
staff.
Another local service is food
delivery Wed.- Sun., from 5
p.m. to close. The menu is
available online, and all items
are available, $15 minimum
order. They serve a 7-mile radius
from Annandale to Buffalo.
Madigans holds a meat raffle
every Friday evening during the
school year and Bingo with the

meat raffle on Wednesdays.

Adults 18 and over are invited to
join their summer volleyball
leagues on Wednesdays and Bean
Bag leagues in the fall. Live
music and entertainment are
scheduled occasionally and for
special events such as the Maple
Lake Fishing Derby, St.
Patricks Day, Gear-Head Get
Together and other community
celebrations. Lounge on the outdoor patio on warm evenings or
cozy up to the outdoor fireplace
when temperatures cool down.
In addition to the restaurant,
Madigans takes reservations for
on-site private parties such as
receptions, birthday and holiday
parties,
grooms
dinners,
anniversary and baptism celebrations. The facility is spacious
enough to host multiple events

simultaneously. For those who

prefer an off-site event, Madigans offers catering to go.
Patrons choose their own menu
items (any type of food) and a
portable bar is available for
liquor to go. This is a great service for wedding receptions, holiday parties and special occasions.

Community S upporter
Owner Chris Nelson moved
to Maple Lake 23 years ago and
has been an integral community
supporter since then. He raised
his two daughters here, both of
whom graduated from Maple
Lake High School. Im proud
of the schools; they did real well
with my kids. Older daughter,
Lauren, was a Maple Lake
Ambassador and representative at
the Minneapolis Aquatennial;
and younger daughter, Maddie,
was recently selected as one of
this years Ambassadors.

Nelson is a big supporter of

all Maple Lake festivals and a
sponsor for the high school ball
teams, the Maple Lake Lakers
baseball team and the churches.
I feel particularly lucky to be
located in the center of the community and right under the water
tower, said Nelson.
Formerly known as Pizzazz
and primarily a pizza place, Nelson extended the menu and
changed the name to reflect local
Irish heritage and a connection to
Maple Lakes founder, James
Madigan. Since buying the
building 17 years ago, Nelson
added footage, a volleyball court,
a marquee, remodeled the interior
and added improvements.
Maple Lake is evolving, and
Madigans with it. Nelson owns
the land surrounding the building
proper and has several ideas for
expansion. Something new
will be introduced soon, Nelson
promises.
Madigans Pub and Grill
opens for business at 11 a.m.,
seven days a week; the kitchen
closes at 10 p.m. weeknights,

Left: Madigans game room is great for kids of all ages. Right: Server, Leah, with a Madigans special pizza. Madigans delivers and you can find a menu online at www.madiganspub.com.
(Photos by Bob Zimmerman)
and the bar closes at 1 a.m. Nelson has a good crew and says,
Many of our staff have been
here for years and years, and
some have left and come back. I
couldnt do it without them,
said Nelson.
Stop in for lunch, Happy
Hour or dinner with family,
friends or neighbors, and enjoy a
bit of Irish hospitality and a delicious meal in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
