About NSC:
National Safety Council (NSC) was set up by the Ministry of Labour, Government
of India on 4th March, 1966 to generate, develop and sustain a voluntary
movement on Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) at the national level. Its
mission is building capacity, developing material, methods, procedures and
strengthening the national movement (including unorganized sector) on Safety,
Health and Environment to prevent and mitigate the loss of life, human suffering
and economic losses.
NSC provides a number of services to its members. These include organising and
conducting specialized training courses, conferences, seminars & workshops;
conducting consultancy studies such as safety audits, hazard evaluation & risk
assessment; designing and developing SHE promotional materials &
publications; facilitating organisations in celebrating various campaigns e.g. Road
Safety Awareness Week, National Safety Day/Week, Fire Service Week, World
Environment Day, and recognizing meritorious safety performance of
organizations.
SHE Training:
National Level Training:
The council develops and organizes a wide range of short-term National Training
programmes to meet the emerging needs and to promote a preventive safety
culture. These programmes are designed for senior and middle management
personnel, safety committee members, SHE professionals and trade union
representatives. NSC maintains a pool of experts for conducting these
programmes. These programmes are supported by Safety Videos, Exercises and
Case studies.
Inplant (Unit level) Training:
NSC designs and conducts need based training programmes at the organization
premises. These programmes are best suited for various levels of employees
including Senior managers, Supervisors and Workers.
Why E-learning?
Traditional methods of learning i.e class room training/ coaching have limitations
in terms of time and cost involved. There is very little exibility in traditional training
for a working person to enhance his learning required for career advancement,
whereas, E-learning mode offers an effective alternative. NSC is constantly
looking for the new methods and techniques to reach out to maximum number of
organizations and their employees for creating awareness & enhancing
competency in the area of Safety & Health.
The E-learning is fast becoming popular as it offers following benets.
Cost Effective and Time Saving.
Easily accessible as per participants convenience.
Continuous assessment of the progress.

Why this course?

Construction industry plays an important role in developing country's
infrastructure and it accounts for nearly 45% of total investment in infrastructure in
India. It is the second largest sector after agricultural in terms of employment.
More than 44 million persons are employed in Construction Industry. As per the
reports published by National Skill Development Corporation, 5-6% of total work
force in Construction Industry is required for addressing SHE issues.
Accidents affects lives, disrupt work and are costly. Accidents at Construction site
may be due to collapse of building parts, fall of persons and objects from heights ,
ladders and stairs; loading , unloading and transportation of materials; working
with machines; blasting with explosives, etc. Strong Supervisory skills are prerequisite to the success of any construction project. Effective supervision at
workplaces will lead to improvement in Safety at Construction sites resulting in
savings in project cost.
As a result of the consultation with the experts from the construction industry, NSC
has specially developed this course for those individuals from the industry who are
unable to avail the traditional mode of SHE training. This E-learning course aims
at imparting & improving the Safety & Health Competency needed for timely and
cost effective, accident free completion of the construction projects.
