CalemEAM Open Source EAM/CMMS

1 Executive Summary
CalemEAM is an open source software provider for enterprise asset management
(EAM) and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS). Using
popular open source technologies such as Apache, JavaScript and PHP,
CalemEAM Enterprise Edition, Calem Enterprise, is delivered with source code
and can be easily customized to fit customer business processes and/or
integrated with existing applications.

1.2 AJAX RICH CLIENT

CalemEAM comes with an Ajax rich client so customers can get ideal
productivity of rich clients without the cost associated with installing and
maintaining rich clients on desktop machines.
Traditional CMMS/EAM web applications send each user request to server and
wait for a new page to display. The frequent page refreshes are sluggish and a
drag of user productivity. The Ajax client of CalemEAM sends user requests as a
SOAP call to server and get the data results (not a new page) from server. It
then displays the data results. The server load is reduced to functional services
for client requests without the burden of generating a web page for each
request.

CalemEAM's Ajax client includes the following functionality:

List view for viewing data list. One can scroll by list view's scroll bar or
mouse wheels. The list view handles fetching data from server behind
scenes.

Master detail view for displaying a master record with many detail lists

1.3 PHP-BASED SERVER

CalemEAM uses the popular object-oriented PHP scripts to build its application
server. Customers can tailor CalemEAM's business logic in an instant when
needed without recompile or redeployment, significantly reduced the time and
cost of customization for an enterprise EAM/CMMS solution.

1.4 DEPLOYMENT ON-DEMAND/ON-SITE

CalemEAM is the latest generation of ASP applications that allow customers to
deploy the application on-demand (at a hosting data center), on-site (at the
customer's own facility), or switch from one to the other based on changes in
business needs.

4 System Requirements

Server Requirements
Server hardware requirements are based on specific customer needs. A basic
configuration is a server with 1.5 GHz CPU with 512 MB.
Server software requirements include Apache 2.0.x, MySQL 5.0.x and PHP 5.1.x.
When applicable use a bundled package such as XAMPP 1.6 for Linux or WAMP
1.6 for Windows to get all server software components.
