For forty years several East European coun

With the

that this is so.

In spite of all the attempts
to control the mind and hearts of people with
all kinds of promises, Utopia, challenging
ideologies and the so-called scientific outlook
on life, which eliminates what is spiritual
and divine, the conclusion of the people is
quite different.
They want to know more about
God and they want Him to help them in their

conference gathered over four thousand young

people from all over the country for three days
of teaching, preaching, good Christian music

and fellowship.
It was called the greatest
Christian youth gathering in Poland, and it
took place in one large sports arena in Warsaw.
It was the greatest,

but throughout the summer

there were several smaller meetings taking

place throughout the country. Some of them were
conducted in the open air, others in rented
theaters and different public assembly halls.
The Bible and good Christian literature was
freely sold and distributed among the people.
The booklet, "The Life of Christ Visualized,"
by Christian Standard was already printed sev

As we work

and observe the mission field of

our involvement, we can clearly see that the

people in these places cannot live like this
for much longer.
Political disappointments,
economic failures, seventy years of such life

is long enough.
People are beginning to look
for help where they can find it. They are get

"Christ is the answer"..."We want to know more

These are conmion slogans dis

people in Poland. There is a feeling of unrest

Europe.

Word and a response on a scale that I have not
witnessed in my ministry. It seems to be world
wide, both in the Eastern world and in the Wes
tern world."

Friends,

it is exciting

to be alive today,

to be a Christian and to see the fulfillment of

God's Words before our eyes - "I will build

my

church and the gates of hell shall not prevail

against it." Yes, still much needs to be done,
there is still much evil, but at the same time
there is much good happening, just like the
Bible tells us it will be at the end of time.

In Poland, as you know, we are

We are just now receiving good reports of a
busy and fruitful nine weeks of summer training

Each week, we
had over a hundred campers eagerly learning,

many tears and thanksgiving at the time of
parting.
High School and College age had
several weeks of camp and intensive Bible
teaching.
There was also one week of special

finally, as I mentioned before, the highlight
of the 1985 summer youth programs in Poland was
a great Christian Youth Conference in Warsaw.
Many tears of joy were shed and many decisions
were made for the Lord. May the Lord help them
now to grow and may we prove t:o be faithful
leaders and skillful teachers, able to help
them in their long process of growing in
Christ.

One more important bit of news which relates

to our Global Missionary Radio Ministries in
Poland.
During our June visit with Dr. and
Mrs. David Eubanks, president of Johnson Bible
College, we were able to minister in several
churches in Poland.
Also, we were invited to
speak to a group of students from the Corre
spondence Bible School conducted at the Warsaw
Christian Church. Forty-two students have suc
cessfully completed their first year of study
at this new Bible school.
It was rewarding to

This command of Christ to His disciples and

the Church is for all generations until He
comes back for His Church.

The conditions for

fulfilling this command may be different at

various times of history. Some moments are bet

But it has been given
to the Church to adjust to each and every par

Since there are few Bibles and Christian

literature is often scarce in countries, such

as the USSR, and since freedom to propogate
Biblical Christianity in such countries is cur
tailed, short-wave radio coming in from the
outside world is a very effective means of wit
nessing to these nations.
Many tune in daily
with great interest hoping to hear the latest
news in general and it is at such times that
they pick up Gospel programs and hear the mes-

of sharing the Good News of salvation

to every tongue, tribe and nation.

At GMRM we

are fully convinced that our calling from God

is to make Christ known by radio to the Rus
sians, Belorussians, Ukrainians and Poles.
We
have done this for many years now having begun

with broadcasts

in the

Russian language.

We

then added a program in the Belorussian lan

guage followed by Polish programs and, most
recently, we began preparing a Ukrainian pro
gram.
Throughout different periods of their
histories, these great Slavic nations have been
deprived of opportunities to hear the simple
message of salvation through faith in Christ,
and

to have

Perhaps all that I have said to this point
is already known to many of our friends and
supporters of our radio ministry.
Why then do
I repeat it?
It is simply for this reason.
Preaching the Gospel over radio is an extremely
important and sometimes a rather complicated
type of ministry. It requires the knowledge of
Scripture, history, culture and the language of
the people to whom the message is being direct
ed. All this we have and willingly use for the
glory of God and slavation of precious souls.

It is customary among many Christians to sup
port missionaries in different parts of the
world by so called "living-link" means. Indeed,
this is an effective and practical way of

support since it is always directed to an indi

vidual or group of individuals serving on the
mission field. Such support meets the personal,

spiritual and educational needs of the mission

aries themselves or their missions. However, it
is more difficult to raise support for such

seemingly impersonal needs such as paying for

radio time. But the point is that without suf
ficient funds for this phase of our ministry,
we cannot continue our work.
Very often this
expense has to be covered by support given to
individual missionary families
through the
"living-link" means.
Just at this time we would kindly ask you to

seriously consider what the Lord would have you

do to help provide funds for our ongoing broad
cast ministry. We do need this support so that

our present schedule of programs from the vari

ous stations may continue.
We know for a fact
that through the programs men and women, boys
and girls accept Christ as their personal

REPRINTING OF THE

BELORUSSIAN NEW TESTAMENT

I am sure many of you are wondering what has

happened to the printing of the Belorussian New
Testament. As you will recall from a past Com

municator, we requested that the Canadian Bible

Society,

through

its contacts

in the

world,

seek out an appropriate printer who could re

print the
Belorussian New Testament at a
reasonable rate.
The answer finally came and,
I must admit, I am pleased with the outcome.
A printer in South Korea has agreed to re

print 5,000 copies at 90<: per copy (all figures

given in US funds).
At the date of writing of
this notice, GMRM has received approximately
$4,205 for this project which is a few hundred
dollars short of the total cost of the project.
We have gone ahead and put the order in for the
5,000 copies but we
also trust
that the Lord
will provide the needed difference to pay for
the project in full.
Please keep in mind,
though, that we will need still further funds
to transport the Belorussian New Testament to
various parts of the world where it will be
read and used.
Also, I am presently writing a
book in Belorussian about the essentials of the

Christian life that will serve as a companion

to the Belorussian New Testament.
We hope to
have the book printed in due course but this
will require still further funds.
More about
this in future issues of the Communicator.

One thing remains certain.

There is a real

^peed for this kind of material.

I "^received a letter

Just recently

from a Belorussian

living

in Eastern Poland stating the urgency of having

the Scripture and other Bible helps available
in the Belorussian language.
At present such
literature is a rarity but in great demand.
Thus, if any of you reading this notice feel
lead by the Lord to assist us in the project,
you may do so. Please earmark your offering for
Belorussian Scripture and literature. A special
thank you to all who have already contributed
to the New Testament project.
Let us together
pray that the New Testaments will be printed
quickly and that they will fall into the eager
hands of Belorussians who love reading in their
native tongue. May God use this for their sal
vation.

Their address is 111 Riverhead Drive, Rexdale,

Our

This we

Understandably,

there are times when common

mission business must be discussed

and collec

the men come together at the Repetskis' resi
dence. This usually occurs once or twice a week
depending on the amount and nature of business
on hand.
So far this method has proven

adequate and it will be continued to be imple

mented until a more permanent place for the
mission can be found.

As you can see, our work now is being per

We do anticipate the time when a more permanent

located.

We are

Certainly, the ministry itself con
