Passage 1:
Rakesh was the Commander of school NCC Drill Team. This position gave him
the responsibility of deciding which cadets would march in each of the events in
an upcoming drill competition. Among the cadets on the Drill Team, Rakesh had
friends, foes and some that fell in between. All the positions had been assigned
except for one - an individual event that was quite an honour to be given.
It was obvious to Rakesh that Shekhar and David were the top two cadets in the
team. Shekhar and Rakesh had been friends for fifteen years, while David and
Rakesh just tolerated each other for the sake of the drill team. As a Commander,
it was Rakeshs call to decide as to which cadet would lead the event. He decided
to arrange an informal audition between Shekhar and David for the position.
Both cadets performed equally well at the audition so Rakesh had to turn to his
prior knowledge of both candidates. Shekhar had a tendency to choke under
pressure when all eyes were upon him. David, on the other had a reputation for
remaining solid in front of the judges. Rakesh was not sure about who to select.
Should he give the role to David, who appeared to be the better cadet for the job

Read the following passage and answer the questions that follow:
Nutrition is defined as the process by which an organism takes in and utilizes
food material for its growth, development, reproduction, repair and maintenance.
We use carbohydrate as the main source of energy for our body. It gives us
4.2kcal of heat energy per gram. Starch is a polymer of glucose i.e., it is made up
of several basic units of glucose linked together. The general formula of starch is
(C6H10O5)n. It is mostly present in most of the plants. When a few drops of iodine
solution is mixed with a starch suspension, the colour of the mixture changes to
blue black, which shows the presence of starch. Similarly, adulterated turmeric
or dal can be checked by the addition of HCl in the suspension of turmeric or dal.
Turmeric and dal, both are adulterated by mixing metanil yellow for giving it a
better colour. The yellow colour of metanil yellow changes to pink with the
addition of Hydrochloric Acid.
53. Complete combustion of two grams of carbohydrate yields

solution of C changed to pink while the solution of B changed blue-black
which means thata) Solution A has metanil yellow while solution B has starch.
b) Solution A has starch while solution C has starch.
c) Solution C has metanil yellow while solution B has starch.
