Colin Campbell He has worked in ELT for more of 28 years as a teacher, trainer, Director of Studies and Consultant. During that time he worked in a number of different countries, including Spain, Italy, Poland, Ireland and Estonia. He has worked at the University of Reading since 1998 where he teaches English for Academic Purposes. (Cambrige English ) He was a co-founder of two private language schools in Italy and Poland. He taught on various short courses at CALS since February 1998 and was Short Courses Co-coordinator at CALS. Since 2001 he has concentrated on teaching on and course directing EAP courses. His most outstanding books are: Campbell, C. 1999 The Ironing Man Cambridge University Press (Cambridge English Readers) Campbell, C. 2000 The Lady in White Cambridge University Press (Cambridge English Readers) Campbell, C. 2004 Parallel Cambridge University Press (Cambridge English Readers) Some of his favorite memories from his career are: co-hosting a Learning English television series for local television in Italy; recording Irish songs for a Children's course book in Poland; writing original readers for Cambridge University Press and, still, teaching students anywhere. In addition to teaching, training and writing, Colin Campbell does voluntary counselling work in London.
Where and when the story took place?
The story takes most of the time place in Felton, the small village where Tom and Marina live, but some time it plays in London and the whole book takes like 2 months approximately.
Summary of the book:
The book is about Marina who is a housewife. Her husband Tom works in London. They are married and live in a small village near London. Marina hates ironing so she wishes someone who does it for her. Then there is The Ironing Man, he does it for her and she is very happy. When Tom got home she tells him all about it, but Tom doesnt take her very serious. She also tells him that she is going to meet a friend; Johanna, but Tom knows that Johanna is in Nepal for six months. So Tom calls a personal-detective, who will follow Marina closely. Days after, the detective (by mistake) informs Tom that his wife is cheating on him. Later he realizes that Marina is not cheating on him and he was so excited that he decides to take Marine for a holiday to India for two weeks. They have a great holiday and very in love, they walking on the beach have their happy ending.
