Crowns

1 Corinthians 9:25 “Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown
that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.”

Revelation 3:11 “I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”

What are these crowns?

Crown of resplendence for Jesus (Psalm 132:18)

Crown of salvation for the humble (Psalm 149:4)
Crown of splendor for the wise (Proverbs 4:9)
Crown of wealth for the wise (Proverbs 14:24)
Crown of blessings for the righteous (Proverbs 10:6)
Crown of blessings for the generous (Proverbs 11:26)
Crown of knowledge for the prudent (Proverbs 14:18)
Crown of joy for the Jewish remnant (Isaiah 35:10)
Crown of beauty for those who grieve in Zion (Isaiah 61:3)
Crown of saved souls for the saver (Philippians 4:1, 1 Thessalonians 2:19)
Crown of righteousness for those who have longed for His appearing (2 Timothy 4:8)
Crown of life for those who love God (James 1:12)
Crown of glory for shepherding God’s flock (1 Peter 5:4)
Crown of life for those who are faithful even to the point of death (Revelation 2:10)
Crown of gold for each of the twenty-four elders (Revelation 4:4)

Can a person have multiple crowns?

Yes – “His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no
one knows but he himself.” (Revelation 19:12)

Just as Jesus has multiple crowns, so those who fit the requirements for each crown will receive them.

Clothes

2 Corinthians 5:3 “because when we are clothed, we will not be found naked.”

Revelation 16:15 “Behold, I come like a thief! Blessed is he who stays awake and keeps his clothes with him, so
that he may not go naked and be shamefully exposed.”

What are these clothes?

Garment of cursing for those who are wicked (Psalm 109:18)

Garment of splendor for Jerusalem the city (Isaiah 52:1)
Garment of vengeance for Almighty God (Isaiah 59:17)
Garment of praise for those who grieve in Zion (Isaiah 61:3)
Garment of salvation for those who are saved (Isaiah 61:10)
Garment stained crimson for Almighty God (Isaiah 63:1)
Garment of violence for an abusive husband (Malachi 2:16)

Robe of justice for Job (Job 29:14)

Robe of majesty for Almighty God (Psalm 93:1)
Robe of splendor for Almighty God (Isaiah 63:1)
Robe of righteousness for those who are righteous (Isaiah 61:10)
Robe of white for those who had been martyred (Revelation 6:11)
Robe of white for those who came out of the great tribulation (Revelation 7:9)

Cloak of zeal for Almighty God (Isaiah 59:17)
