Lesson Objective(s)
(Stated in observable and measurable terms)

To learn and apply the scientific method when confronted with a problem. We will
create an excel document to display results with charts and graphs to aid in the
presentation of our experiments.

Assessment Plan
(What will be done to determine if lesson objectives have been met?)

Students will complete an excel document to detail the results of an experiment they
created utilizing the scientific method. The document will have a chart and graph to
make the results easy to read and understand.

Materials:

Computer
Inclusion Techniques for Students with Special Needs:

Students with special needs will conduct the assignment in conjunction with their
IEP. Each student will spend time with me going over their results and helping them
incorporate it into excel.

Enrichment Techniques:

To add the enrichment of students, they will be instructed in utilizing the formula tool bar in excel
to allow them to create equations within excel.

Lesson Differentiation (What modifications/accommodations will be made to ensure that ALL students
have access to and are able to participate in the lesson):

All students will have access to the computer lab as well as the instructor to facilitate the
use of excel in presenting information.
Lesson Presentation
Introduction/Motivational Activities/Anticipatory Set:

We will be building upon the previous assignment of creating your own experiment.
Each student will be introduced on how to incorporate data into a presesntation.

Detailed Teaching Sequence:

• Introduce the material via powerpoint presentation

• Give details on the expectation of the excel document assignment


o Students are to create an excel document to convey the results of the
previously completed experiment.

Guided Practice/Independent Practice/Assessment Activities

Students will be guided through the process of utilizing Microsoft Excel to create
charts and graphs to detail the results of their experiment.
