ABSTRACT
The objective of the present paper has been to study of biodegradation of both pretreated and untreated sugar beet pulp to determine the potential of biogas
production and methane. This study was performed using a battery of bath reactors. The inoculum used in both cases is mesophilic digested sludge 5% (w/w). The
biodegrdation of pretreated and untreated sugar beet pulp were 75% DOC and 65% DOC, respectively, as percentage removal of organic matter. The production of
methane was 3.6 L CH4 and 3.4 L CH4 for the pretreated and treated cases, respectively. The main conclusion of this study is that there inst effect of the biological
pretreatment with mature compost on mesophilic anaerobic digestion of sugar beet pulp.

Pretratamiento:
Se realiz un pretratamiento de la coseta de remolacha con
compost maduro 5% (p/p) y el tiempo de contacto fue 24 h.
CONCLUSIONES
El estudio de biodegradabilidad de las cosetas de remolacha
demuestra el escaso efecto del pretratamiento biolgico con
compost maduro sobre las mismas. Por tanto, no justifica su
aplicacin como pretratamiento biolgico efectivo.
