PROCEDURE:

Open a new ANSYS file by using ANSYS Product Launcher. Select the directory file

and file name and click RUN.


In ANSYS main menu, select preferences, in which structural is to be selected and

click OK.
In pre-processor> select Element type followed by ADD. Now select Shell and 3D 4

node 181 element.


In pre-processor >Select Material properties followed by Material model. Now select
the following sequence in order- Structural-Linear-Elastic-Isotropic. Enter the values

of Youngs modulus and Poissons ratio.


In pre-processor > Section >shell>layup-ADD. Enter the thickness as ....25.......mm.
In pre-processor >Modeling >create keypoints. Join lines and arc using the create

option.
In pre-processor>numbering control, merge the keypoints.
Now select pre-processor >OPERATE in Modeling followed by EXTRUDE option in
the sequence of-lines-About axis. Finally the model of the pressure vessel is ready for
meshing.

In pre-processor>meshing, select the mesh tool followed by set line and enters the

element edge length as........... and click OK.


In Solution, apply loads in the following sequence- Define loads-Apply-StructuralDisplacement-On lines. Select the four line segments of the circle in the bottom of the

vessel. Select all DOF and click OK.


In Solution, apply loads in the following sequence- Define loads-Apply-StructuralPressure-On Area. Select all the inner surface area of the pressure vessel. Select Y-

direction and enter the value as...........2 N/mm2........... and click OK.
In solution>solve >current LS and click OK. Now problem is solved.
In general post processor>Plot results>Contour plot> Nodal solution. In the dialogue
box Nodal solution-DOF solution-Displacement vector sum. Select display with

undeformed shape. Thus the deformed shape with undeformed shape is displayed.
In general post processor>Plot results>Contour plot> Nodal solution. In the dialogue
box Nodal solution-Stress-Von Mises. Select display with undeformed shape. Thus

the deformed shape with undeformed shape is displayed.


In PlotCtrls>style>Size and Shape-display of the element-ON.so the thickness of the

object will come.


In PlotCtrls>Animate-Deformed Results.
Take the image of the result using the image capture option.

Thus the structural static analysis of the given pressure vessel is done and the results

In pre-processor> Element type followed by ADD. Now select Solid and Quad 4 node

55 element. Than Option- element type option- K3- Plate thickness.


In pre-processor> Real constant-add. Type 1 plane 55 and specify real constant set

number as 1 and Z-depth as 1.


In pre-processor> Material properties followed by Material model. Now select the
following sequence in order- Thermal-Conductivity-Isotropic. Enter the values of

kxx-80w/mc.
In pre-processor> Modeling> create>Areas>Rectangle>By Dimensions (10x2m).
In pre-processor> meshing> mesh tool-area-set and then select the area. Now in the

dialogue box enter element edge length as


In mesh tool-mesh and click on the area to be meshed.
In Solution, apply loads in the following sequence- Define loads-Apply-Thermal-

Temperature-On lines. Select the left side of the rectangular line apply ok. Also temp

value is 500C.
In Solution, apply loads in the following sequence- Define loads-Apply-ThermalTemperature-On lines. Select the other three side of the rectangular line apply ok.

Also temp value is 100C.


In solution>solve> current LS and click OK. Now problem is solved.
In general post processor > read results >first set.
In general post processor> Plot results>Contour plot>Nodal solution. In the dialogue
box DOF solution-Nodal Temperature-displacement vector sum. Select display with
undeformed shape. Thus the deformed shape with undeformed shape is displayed.

The general post processor>vector plot > pre-defined and click Ok.
In PlotCtrls>style>Size and Shape-display of the element-ON.so the thickness of the

object will come.


In PlotCtrls>Animate-Deformed Results.
Take the image of the result using the image capture option.

RESULT:

80C.
In solution>solve>current LS and click OK. Now problem is solved.

node 90.
In pre-processor>Material properties followed by Material model. Now select the
following sequence in order- Thermal-Conductivity-Isotropic. Enter the values of

Kxx-80w/mc.
In pre-processor>Modeling>create>Volumes>Cylinder>By Dimensions

(20x10mm).again one time By Dimensions (-30x5mm).


In pre-processor>Modeling>Operate>Booleans>Add>Volumes-select areas ok.
In pre-processor>meshing>mesh tool-area- set and specify element edge length-enter

value as .and OK.


In mesh tool-mesh and click on the area to be meshed.
In Solution, apply loads in the following sequence- Define loads-Apply-ThermalTemperature-On areas. Select the left side of the areas apply ok. In the dialogue box
temp value is 150C.

In Solution, apply loads in the following sequence- Define loads-Apply-Thermal-

Convective-On areas. Select the other side of the cylinder apply ok.
In the dialogue box enter the film coefficient as 0.1w/mm 2C and bulk temperature as

25C.
In solution>solve>current LS and click OK. Now problem is solved.
In general post processor > read results > first set.
In general post processor> Plot results>Contour plot>Nodal solution. In the dialogue
box -DOF solution-Nodal Temperature. Select display with undeformed shape. Thus

In pre-processor> meshing> mesh tool followed by Lines set and enters the No of

element division as........... and click OK.


In mesh tool-mesh and pick all in the dialogue box and click OK.
In Solution, apply loads in the following sequence- Define loads-Apply-StructuralDisplacement-On Nodes. Select the numbers in the truss 2, 3 & 4. Select all DOF and

click OK.
In Solution, apply loads in the following sequence- Define loads-Apply-Structuralforce-On Nodes. Select the number in the truss 1and Select click OK. In the direction
(Z & Y).

In Solution, apply loads in the following sequence- Define loads-Apply-Structuralforce-On Nodes. Select the number in the truss 5 and Select click OK. In the direction

(Z & Y).
In solution>solve> current LS and click OK. Now problem is solved.
In general post processor>Plot results>Contour plot>Nodal solution. In the dialogue

the real constant and youngs modulus and click OK.


In mesh tool-mesh and pick all in the dialogue box and click OK.
In Solution, apply loads in the following sequence- Define loads-Apply-StructuralDisplacement-On Nodes. Select the numbers in the truss 1 & 6. Select all DOF and

click OK.
In Solution, apply loads in the following sequence- Define loads-Apply-Structuralforce-On Nodes. Select the number in the truss 3 and Select click OK. In the

direction X.
In Solution, apply loads in the following sequence- Define loads-Apply-Structuralforce-On Nodes. Select the number in the truss 4 and Select click OK. In the

direction Y.
In solution>solve> current LS and click OK. Now problem is solved.
In general post processor> Plot results>Contour plot>Nodal solution. In the dialogue

In Plotctrls>Style>symmetry expansion>2D axis symmetric on the dialogue box

selects expansions.
In solution>solve>current LS and click OK. Now problem is solved.
In general post processor>Plot results>Contour plot>Nodal solution.In the dialogue
box, Stress-Y component of stress & Z component of stress. Thus the deformed shape

with undeformed shape is displayed.


In Plotctrls, Multi window layout-ON two (left-right).

large displacement static.

the end of the loadstep give value as......3...... click OK.

In general post processor>Plot results>Contour plot> Nodal solution. In the dialogue
