New Haven Reads is a nonprofit organization
located in space donated by Yale University that
aims to promote literacy in New Havens youth.
Over 500 New Haven K-12 students visit New Haven
Reads each week for free tutoring by community
volunteers, many of whom are Yale students and staff.

Contributing to a Strong New Haven

Since its founding in 2001, New Haven Reads has operated a free bookstore known as the Book
Bank, which annually provides over 100,000 books to children and families in New Haven.
