geophysicalformations.Itsservicesalsoinclude"perforating,"whichistheuseofexplosivestoprovidemaximumwellandreservoirproductivity.Wirelineandperforatingserviceshelp
reducetherisksthatcustomersfaceatthewellandalsominimizenonproductivetimeatthewell.

WhatdoWirelineandPerforatingFieldEngineersdo?
WirelineandPerforatingFieldEngineersuseelectronictoolsandcomputerizedsurfacesystemsatthewellsitetoperformopenhole,boreholeseismic,andcasedholeloggingtorecord
andanalyzesubsurfaceformationsinoilandgaswells.Theyalsoperformperforatingservicestofacilitatetheflowofoilandgasfromthewell.
Duringopenholelogging,fieldengineersuseelectronicimagingtools(suchasnuclear,3D,seismicandgammaray)tomeasurethedownholeformation'sviscosity,density,resistivity,
permeabilityandanisotropy,andthewell'sfluids(waterandhydrocarbons).Sensorreadingstravelupanelectricwirelineandproducealog(similartowhatamedicalEKGreading
lookslike).Theengineeranalyzesthelogtodetermineifoilandgasarepresentand,ifso,howmuchandifitcanbeproducedeconomically.
Afteropenholefieldengineersdeterminethatthewellcanproduceoilandgas,theholeiscasedandcementedinplacesothatcasedholeloggingservicescanbeperformed.Cased
holefieldengineersinspectthecementcasingwithacoustictools,electromechanicaltoolsandvideotohelpensurethatthewellwillproduceoilandgasatoptimumlevels.
Casedholefieldengineersalsoperformperforatingservices,whichistheprocessofusingexplosivechargestomakeholesinthecasingtoprovideconnectivitybetweenthe
hydrocarbonbearingreservoirandthewellbore,therebyallowingoilorgastoflowtothesurface.Perforatingisaccomplishedbyusingaperforatinggunloadedwithshapedcharges
thatisloweredintothewellandelectronicallyfiredfromthesurface.

Worth,Texas,youlllearneverythingfromOilfield101toequipmenttheoryandpracticalapplications.Youllworka24hour,oncallschedulewhileintrainingandalsoafteryour
trainingiscomplete.
Whileyouaretraininginthefield,amentortypically,anexperiencedengineerwillprovideyouwithguidanceonhowtoperformtaskscriticaltoyourjob,including:
Analysisofpetrophysicaldataacquiredthroughwirelineservices
Equipmentpreparationandcalibration
Toolsandequipmentoperation
Rigupoftoolstotherig.
Theobjectiveofthetrainingyoureceiveistolearnandmastertheskillsofanequipmentoperatorandtobeginfunctioningasthesecondengineeronwellsitejobs.
Dependingonyourcareerpath,youwilllearnandbecomeproficientinopenhole,casedholeorperforatingservices.
Aftertraining
Onceyourtrainingiscomplete,youwillbealeadengineer,managingacrewoftwotothreeequipmentoperators,andconqueringnewchallengeseachday.
Youlltypicallyworksevendaysoncall,withthreedaysoff.Whileoncall,itisnotuncommontospendoneortwonightsawayfromhome.
Duetothenatureofthejob,youwillspendthemajorityofyourtimeoutdoorsattherigsite,workinginsometimesextremeweatherconditionsforextendedhours.
