... according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith (Rom.
12:3).
Growing Faith
dead.2 If you want your faith to come alive just begin working
for God. Obey Him and do those things He has been asking
you to do; then He will begin to do the things you have been
asking Him to do. That is the way to have faith. For you have
no reason to believe Him for things, or claim His promise, if
you do not meet His conditions. Every promise has a
condition. Every time Jesus started to work a miracle in the
Bible He tested peoples faith by telling them something to
do.
this bread shall never hunger.4 That does not mean that you
will stay in good condition by just eating of this bread once
per week, or once per month. How would your baby do if you
just fed it once a week or once each month? Suppose you fed
it lots today and in a week from now feed it five meals at
once. It couldnt digest it. Remember the Word of God is the
bread of Life. We should eat it regularly. We give ourselves to
Jesus all at once, or should, and He gives Himself to us day
by day.
What would happen if you fed the baby just like you
should, and never give it anything to drink? We all know it
would die. What do you mean by that? Just this: The Spirit is
the water of Life.5 As bread will not keep us alive without
water, so the Word will not keep your faith alive unless you
have the Spirit of God. The letter killeth but the Spirit
maketh alive. You must have the Spirit also. It will work
both ways. You know that a baby cannot live on the water
without the bread; so your faith cannot live on the Spirit
without the Word.
Jesus said you do greatly err by not knowing the
Scriptures nor the power of God. What made the apostles
men of great faith for miracles? They gave themselves
continually to the Word of God and prayer. If we abide in
Him and His Word abides in us we can have whatever we
ask of Him.6 David said no plague could come nigh our
dwelling if we would make his truth our shield and buckler
and would abide in the secret place of the most High. 7
4 This is that bread which came down from heaven... He that eateth of
this bread shall live forever (John 6:58).
5 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall not
thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water
springing up into everlasting life (John 4:14).
6 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will,
and it shall be done unto you (John 15:7).
7 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under
the shadow of the Almighty... He shall cover thee with His feathers, and
under His wings shall thou trust: His truth shall be thy shield and

circumstances.
We prayed for another lady who said she couldnt get her
healing unless she played the guitar and sung and held
revivals. She couldnt make a tune on an instrument.
Those kind of people will have to remain sick or stop
listening to the accuser of the brethren. Im going to take the
stand that God is no hard taskmaster. He will not lay on us
more than we can bear. His commandments are not grievous.
28
If we keep His commandments we will get the answer and
have faith. Glory!
Would you tell your little girl to do something that she
could not do and then whip her because she didnt do it? To
accuse God of doing that is to accuse Him of being worse than
we are. Our Heavenly Father will not ask us to do anything
which we cannot do. I am glad of that. He loves us as much,
and more so, as we love our children. 29
Therefore, if we abide in Him and His Word abides in us,
if we keep His commandments, if we dwell in the secret place
of the Most High, if we abide in the shadow of the Almighty,
then we can do as King Hezekiah did. When he was on his
dying bed with what his people thought was an incurable
disease, he turned to the wall and told God that he had lived
for Him, and wanted to be healed. 30 Can you say that?
They are passing laws now to make mercy killing legal.
Three hundred ministers in the State of New York were in
favor of that law. Under that law when a Physician
28 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His
commandments are not grievious (I John 5:3).
29 Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have
compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not
forget thee (Is. 49:15).
30 Then he turned his face to the wall, and prayed unto the Lord, saying, I
beseech thee, O Lord, remember now how I have walked before thee in
truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy
sight. And Hezekiah wept sore... I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy
tears: behold, I WILL HEAL THEE... (II Kings 20:2-5).

Do Like Enoch
Enoch was the type of the raptured saints. So I can tell
you exactly what you will have to do to make the Rapture. He
31 And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years, and
had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she
had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse... And he said
unto her, daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be
made whole of thy plague (Mk. 5:25, 26, 34).
16
Faith Is Simple
Dont try to make something hard out of faith. I heard
that a man was looking through a telescope for a worm. He
was looking away off and straining his eyes. Someone said,
dont be silly, the worm is right close to your eyes. So faith
32 For I am the Lord, I change not... (Mal. 3:6).
33 Beloved when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common
salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that
you should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered to
the saints (Jude 3).
34 And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith:
for whatsoever is not of faith is sin (Rom. 14:23).

over town you meet up with, that you wish you could believe
him. Suppose I would hear you saying this, I wish I could
believe my husband. I have tried and tried so hard to believe
him, but I just cant. I would form the opinion very soon that
you had a liar for a husband. You couldnt trust him. He
must be untrue to you. You must have tried him over and
over, and he has lied to you so much you have gotten to the
place that you cant depend on anything he says anymore.
Probably he is a drunkard and a liar, or a cheat. Now if I
would draw that opinion of your husband by hearing you
make such statements about him, what opinion do people
form of God, who have never known Him, if you make public
the statement that you wish you could believe Him but just
cant. They think He has been unfair in His dealings, or at
least they are not enticed to come and trust in the Lord. 38
Lets be careful not to insult God like that, for the way
spiritual laws (that bring us blessing and answers) operate is
on our confidence in Him. No wonder that He puts the
unbelievers with the murderers and adulterers and all the
bad people.39 Unbelief is of the devil and God is against it.
That is the reason God says that he that believeth not shall
be damned.40 He further says he that believeth not God, has
made Him a liar.41 He will not work for us when we make
Him a liar.
I have never lied to my wife. And she has no reason for

to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ (II
Cor. 11:2)
39 ... how that the Lord having saved the people out of the land of Egypt,
afterward destroyed them that believed not (Jude 5).
But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and
the whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have
their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is
the second death (Rev. 21:8).
40 ... but he that believeth not shall be damned (Mk. 16:16).
41 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that
believeth not God hath made Him a liar;... (I John 5:10).

not believing me. If I would go to her today and tell her that I
had bought and paid for a new coat down at a certain store,
and tell her to get it while she is in town, I believe she would
go in and ask for the coat without feeling that she would be
denied the coat, or be embarrassed when she asked for her
new coat. I believe that before she reached town she would
tell her lady friends she met on the street, I have a new coat
down at that store, and I must go by after it.
Now if my wife has confidence like that in me why
shouldnt we have confidence in our kind, truthful, Heavenly
Father? Lets tell people that our healing is bought and paid
for, and it is ours.
If my wife said she had a new coat before she saw it on
the grounds that it was paid for, then we can say that we
have our healing on the grounds that it is paid for, even
before we see it.
I could go a step further and say I give a receipt to my
wife where I paid for the coat. The merchants name is signed
meaning that the coat was paid for in full. How can she keep
from believing? If she would believe in me why should we not
believe in God? Philippians 4:19 is a clear receipt that we
have all we need.42 Isaiah 53:5 is a receipt that our healing is
paid for. First Peter 2:24 is a receipt that our healing is,
Paid in Full.43
Yes, all my wife must do is to just go after the coat. If she
believes it is there she will go after it. Therefore, all we must
do is go after our healing. If you really believe God, you will
come after it. You will not go around telling people that you
just cant believe God. You will not say, I am going to go up
42 But my God shall supply all your needs according to his riches in glory
by Christ Jesus (Phil. 4:19).
43 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our
iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with His
stripes we are healed (Is. 53:5).
Who His own self bare our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, being dead to
sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed (I Peter 2:24).

there and see if I get anything. You will not say, If it is for
me, I want it. You will say, I am going after my healing.
And you will carry it back with you. Glory!
Believe in God. I went up on an elevator the other day. A
little colored girl operated it. Previous to this I had heard of
several cases where people were killed in elevators. As we
were moving upward the thought came to me that I trusted
this colored girl to bring me safely where I wanted to go. And
I said to myself, If I can trust my life with the colored girl
why shouldnt I believe in God? By all means I shouldnt run
all over town telling people I cant believe what God has
said.

Faith Is Courage
Without a certain amount of courage you cannot do a
thing. Without courage you cannot put your shoes on, or
wash your face in the morning, let alone go to work. Next to
the worst thing in the world is a real discouraged man who
has no courage to try anything. Discouragement is the best
tool the devil has.
It was Spurgeon who went several miles into the country
to an old farm house to get a lesson from the Nightingale.
The night was so dark and stormy this noted preacher had
decided the bird would not appear at the window. About the
time he started to bed the bird appeared in the middle of the
storm.
At midnight when the storm was at its worst he heard
the song start. It thrilled the preachers very heart. He got
out of bed and slipped quietly to the window. There was the
little bird in a thorn bush, with its breast against a thorn,
singing as if its heart would break. Mr. Spurgeon got down
on his knees right there and told God to help him to have
that much faith. Often in his sermons from then on he would
be heard saying, Faith is the nightingale of the Christian
graces.
Regardless of the doubt around you keep trusting. The
promises of Jesus is for you. You are the child He loves.
Trust in Him. Have confidence in Him, and He will give you
the desires of your heart.
Growing Faith
before you are prayed for. You can be prayed for before you
receive enough of the Word and if you fail to get your healing
it will stagger your faith. You will always look to your past
failures when you start to be prayed for.
Therefore, get all the promises you can. Ask God to
especially reveal one to you. Stand on that promise and quote
it to the devil when you feel a symptom.
Another translation of Hebrews 1:1 is: Faith is the
title-deed to the unseen things we hope for. 52 If I give
you a deed to a farm and mark it paid in full, and you have
it recorded according to law, that place is so much yours you
can sell it before you ever see it. You have confidence in the
government so much you would call the place yours before
you saw it.
The New Testament is the title-deed to your healing.
Dont you believe God as much as you do me or the
government?

them.
There we have all six senses. Just because they had not
yet tasted them that was no proof they were not there, for
they smelled them. Just because they could not smell them
was no sign they were not there, for they had felt them. Just
a minute before then, because they had not felt them was no
sign they were not there, for they had heard them. Just
before then, because they had not yet heard them was no
proof they were not being sent by the Lord, for they saw
them. Just before then, because they didnt see them was no
proof that God was not sending them for they had the
assurance in their souls, which was the substance of things
hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. 60 They were
standing on the Word of God, which was better proof than
any of their other five senses.
Therefore, you see if you have faith it is surely coming.
Just because you dont see it with your eyes is no proof it is
not coming, for God said blessed is he that believeth for he
shall see. Faith is no more faith after you see what faith
reaches out for. The minute you see it, it changes from faith
to sight.
Therefore, when you believe, wait until you see it. Dont
try to see it before you believe. That is having Gods program
backward. Some even want to feel it before they use the sixth
sense of believing, as Gods Word commands us to do. 61
Lets ask God for the sixth sense. When a person is
without one of the five senses they are not all there. They are
partly dead. They are not like God intends for them to be. So
when we are without the sixth sense we are not at our self
spiritually. Pray for the sixth sense.
60 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things
not seen (Heb. 11:1).
61 And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of
those things which were told her of the Lord (Luke 1:45).
33
Growing Faith
62 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone (James 2:17).
63 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another gifts of healing by the
same Spirit (I Cor. 12:9). (See note 4).
64 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to
God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that
diligently seek Him (Heb. 11:6).

Chapter II

Growing Faith
blood of Jesus took them away. The Devil had to flee. The
Devil will flee every time if you will quote a scripture to him.
Our sins are removed as far from us as the east is from
the west.
We are no longer held accountable for them. Sickness is
the result of sin. God does not hold us responsible for it. 65
A Sinners Excuse
What would you do if you were trying to get a sinner to
receive salvation and he would put up that excuse? Imagine
him saying: I cant get saved for I have been very wicked,
and the Bible says that I have to reap what I sowed when I
was young.
According to that argument my son will have to be a
drunkard if I was a drunkard when I was young. According
to that argument no one can get saved. I am so glad that it is
not that way. Jesus will save us regardless of what we have
sown. He will forgive and forget.
The very wicked woman at the well who had five
husbands, and was living with a man without being married,
was forgiven and sent to win others for Christ. Jesus said to
a very wicked woman, Thy sins which are many are
forgiven thee. Again to a woman caught in the worst of
sins He said, Neither do I condemn thee; go and sin no
more. He didnt tell them they must reap what they had
sown. He forgives and forgets. If He forgets then He will
never turn anyone away by telling him he must stay sick
because he sinned when he was young.
The Lord says it is possible for a person to sow without
reaping.66 He was talking about when he did not stay there to
65 Run references on this truth. (II Cor. 5:17); (Is. 43:25); (Ps. 103:12); (Acts 3:19),
etc.
66 Thou shall sow, but thou shall not reap... (Micah 6:15).
36
reap. A person can sow and another can reap. Therefore, you
will not have to reap what you have sown if you will become
a Christian.
God said we would have to meet every word we say at the
Judgment. But He also tells us that we can send it on before
us, so we will not have to meet it. It can be blotted out where
it will not be on our record.

been sown in their hearts they feel around to see if they can
feel any pain. They want to see the results at once. If a
farmer did that, and scratched up his seed, and never had
any faith in the natural seed, he would never reap a harvest.
We should have as much confidence in the unperishable seed
of the Word of God as the farmer has in the perishable seed
in the natural. If the seed has been sown, just have
confidence that the healing is coming.
The Bible says that we are Gods field. 73 So let the seed of
the Word be sown in your heart. If you dont see results just
wait. If you believe that whatsoever a man soweth he will
reap, just dont be weary in well doing, you will reap healing
if you dont faint.
Dont let doubts be sown. Sow the Word of God. Faith
comes by hearing the Word of God. Your heart is Gods field.
Break up the fallow ground, and let it be a good field. Get rid
of the weeds of doubt. Water the field with the Spirit and
Holy Ghost teaching.

to sleep.74
It was the Old Law that said, an eye for an eye and a
tooth for a tooth. If we had gotten what was due us we
would have all been in Hell long ago. When a person deserves
death Jesus takes his place and gives him life. This is Gods
grace!
41
Growing Faith
and He will heal us.76 What more proof do you want? The
direct, plain promises of God are all we need. Tell the Devil
he will have to bring out another one of his excuses; that one
will not stand up under the searchlight of the Word of God.
