I Dont Have The Faith

Another very common excuse that some well-meaning

people use to keep from obtaining healing is that they do not
have the faith. They may say it in another way but still it has
the same meaning. It may sound like this, If I could just
grasp the faith. Some say, Pray that I will have the faith.
This is a very common excuse, and still some fail to realize
that the devil is giving them that excuse just as he is giving
millions of sinners excuses to keep them from being saved.
He gives many excuses to keep them from receiving the Holy
Ghost. He is a sly old devil. If Jesus had to quote scriptures
to him to overcome him, then Im sure that we are no better
than Jesus. If you want to overcome him, and have faith to
overcome him, just begin to look into the Word of God and
see if that excuse will stand. Quote Gods Word to the devil
and he will flee.

Everyone Has Faith

The Lord tells us that He has given everyone a measure
of faith.1 When you tell me that you do not have the faith I
will ask you what you did with the faith God has given you.
The answer to this question for many people is that their
faith has died. What do you mean? Do you mean to tell me
that faith can die? Yes, that is just what I want to tell you.
How can your faith die? The Lord says when you quit doing
things for God your faith will die. Faith without works is
1

... according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith (Rom.
12:3).

Growing Faith

dead.2 If you want your faith to come alive just begin working
for God. Obey Him and do those things He has been asking
you to do; then He will begin to do the things you have been
asking Him to do. That is the way to have faith. For you have
no reason to believe Him for things, or claim His promise, if
you do not meet His conditions. Every promise has a
condition. Every time Jesus started to work a miracle in the
Bible He tested peoples faith by telling them something to
do.

Dont Let Your Faith Die

How can one keep his faith from dying? Do something
about it. How can you keep a baby from dying? First, you
must feed it. You would not give a young baby bread and
beans would you? To keep it in good condition physically you
would break the bread up so you could know it would be
digested. You would feed it baby food. Then it would grow. 3
Instead of standing upon the whole Word of God, or the
whole Bible, you should break it up so it can be digested. Ask
your Father for one verse to stand on. Eat the Word as you
would eat bread; digest it. Memorize it. Every time your faith
is tested quote the verse to the devil. That is how you get
faith. You dont jump and get it. You dont run and get it. You
dont reach up and get it. You dont get faith by trying. You
dont get faith by worrying. You worry yourself clear out of
faith. Where there is faith there is no worry; where there is
worry there is no faith. Im telling you that faith comes by
hearing the Word of God, by eating the Word of God, by
digesting the Word of God.
The Word of God is the Bread of life. Bread will do you no
good unless you eat it and digest it. He said He that eateth of
2 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone (Jas. 2:17).
3 We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet,
because that your faith groweth exceedingly... (II Thes. 1:3).

I Dont Have The Faith

this bread shall never hunger.4 That does not mean that you
will stay in good condition by just eating of this bread once
per week, or once per month. How would your baby do if you
just fed it once a week or once each month? Suppose you fed
it lots today and in a week from now feed it five meals at
once. It couldnt digest it. Remember the Word of God is the
bread of Life. We should eat it regularly. We give ourselves to
Jesus all at once, or should, and He gives Himself to us day
by day.
What would happen if you fed the baby just like you
should, and never give it anything to drink? We all know it
would die. What do you mean by that? Just this: The Spirit is
the water of Life.5 As bread will not keep us alive without
water, so the Word will not keep your faith alive unless you
have the Spirit of God. The letter killeth but the Spirit
maketh alive. You must have the Spirit also. It will work
both ways. You know that a baby cannot live on the water
without the bread; so your faith cannot live on the Spirit
without the Word.
Jesus said you do greatly err by not knowing the
Scriptures nor the power of God. What made the apostles
men of great faith for miracles? They gave themselves
continually to the Word of God and prayer. If we abide in
Him and His Word abides in us we can have whatever we
ask of Him.6 David said no plague could come nigh our
dwelling if we would make his truth our shield and buckler
and would abide in the secret place of the most High. 7
4 This is that bread which came down from heaven... He that eateth of
this bread shall live forever (John 6:58).
5 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall not
thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water
springing up into everlasting life (John 4:14).
6 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will,
and it shall be done unto you (John 15:7).
7 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under
the shadow of the Almighty... He shall cover thee with His feathers, and
under His wings shall thou trust: His truth shall be thy shield and

Growing Faith

Therefore, we must have both the Word and the Spirit to

grow, just as the baby should have both the water and the
bread to grow. If we feed our faith on the water and the
bread as often, and as regularly, as we do our bodies we will
have more faith. Dont you have a regular time to eat and to
sleep? If you count your soul as important as your body then
remember that faith works through the soul when your faith
is alive. Feed your soul as often, and as regularly, as you do
your body and you will have live faith.
If you depend on the Spirit alone you will get off into false
imaginations. God hates vain imaginations. You will get
visions and new lights not according to the Word of God. All
your revelations must be according to Gods Word, or is it not
of God, and is of the wrong spirit. If you have a revelation
that it is not Gods Will to heal you, then that revelation is
not according to Gods Word, and is given by the wrong spirit.
If you depend on the Word alone then you may also get off
into false doctrines. He that doeth the will of God knoweth
the doctrine.8 He that doeth the Word has faith for his
healing. You cant understand Gods Word if you do not obey
it. There are lots of people who stand on the street corners
and argue the Word of God who dont know what they are
talking about, because they do not do His will. The devil
quotes Scriptures. But he undermines faith. Faith leaves by
hearing some people.
A person who does not do Gods Word, that he already
understands, becomes blind. They do not understand the
Bible any more than a hog understands when Sunday comes.
If you walk in all the light you have, then some more light
shines on your pathway. If I drive my car as far as my lights
will shine, then the lights will shine that much farther. Faith
buckler... There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come
near thy dwelling (Ps. 91:1, 4. 10).
8 If any man will do His will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be
of God, or whether I speak of myself (John 7:17).

I Dont Have The Faith

comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. That

means by doing the Word of God. If you have spiritual ears
with which to hear you will accept it. A person who does not
obey the Word of God is like a person who looks into a glass
and forgets how he looks. He will not be blessed in his deeds
(or in healing). Look into the perfect law of liberty and
continue therein, if you want to be set at liberty, and be set
free from the bondage of sickness, disease, and habits.

Exercise the Baby

If you want the baby to grow into a man give it exercise.
What would happen to the baby if you never gave it any
exercise? It would not grow. It would be deformed, or be a
dwarf, or it would die. We also must exercise our faith. Some
kill their faith by taking an aspirin. How? It got no exercise.
By overcoming helps us to overcome. 9
The reason David overcame the giant was, he slew a lion
and a bear first. The reason Daniel overcame in the lions den
was, he prayed three times each day, and overcame the
Kings orders about food. There are many things he overcame
before he overcame the lions. Look in the first five chapters
of Daniel.
Overcoming the headache will give us power to overcome
the backache. Overcoming the backache will give us power to
overcome the stomachache. Overcoming the stomachache will
give us power to overcome the toothache. This continues until
we are able to overcome large things. Some go to the stake.
They have plenty of power to overcome because they
overcame the minor things. A soldier first goes through the
maneuvers or he will never get to the front lines.
9 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but
God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are
able: but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye
may be able to bear it (I Cor. 10:13).

Growing Faith

The overcomers are all who will escape the great

tribulation, and go into the rapture, and sit down with Jesus.
10
We have to overcome as Jesus did. He overcame by the
Word of God.11 How can we overcome tribulations worse than
the world has ever known if we cant overcome our tongue, or
temper, and our feelings? How can you have faith to
overcome when Jesus comes, if you cant have faith to
overcome these little afflictions you have now?
Exercise your faith and let it grow!

Be Rooted and Grounded in Faith

You watch a stalk of corn which has been used to the rain
all the time. It never has had any dry spells. The roots are at
the top of the ground. When a storm comes it blows over
quickly. When the sun shines it dies. When the roots are
down deep in the ground the wind or the sun will not budge
it. Jesus said because it had no roots it withered away. Jesus
was talking about the seed which fell on rocky ground.
Because of the Word (or lack of the Word) it withered. 12
You need to read the Word to get rooted in the faith.
Some Christians depend only on the rain which falls on
them, or the blessing of the Spirit. When the wind of
temptations, or the sun of trials come, they do not overcome
but they blow up quickly. I say once more, we need both the
Spirit and the Word for faith.
Many quote the scripture that if you have faith as large
as a grain of mustard seed you can remove a mountain. The
10 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as
I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in His throne (Rev.
3:21).
11 And Jesus answered him saying, It is written, That man shall not live
by bread alone, but by every word of God (Luke 4:4).
12 Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and
forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth: And
when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root,
they withered away (Matt. 13:5-6).

10

I Dont Have The Faith

devil quotes that scripture wrong. People look around and

see that there are no mountains being moved. Therefore,
they conclude that no one has any faith these days. Maybe
that is the reason that you say you have no faith.
First. I will say that Jesus had plenty of faith. Did He go
around casting mountains into the sea? No. He did not. But
He moved hundreds of mountains of suffering,
discouragement, and distress. The mountains of sickness,
sin, and bondage disappeared before the faith of the Son of
God. Jesus set us an example that we should follow His
steps.13 He did all His work with the anointing of the same
Holy Ghost as we have.14 He said the same works we could do
if He went back to His Father and sent us the Holy Ghost. 15
We can build up our faith by praying in the Holy Ghost, 16 and
letting the Holy Ghost teach us the Word. 17
Then you will notice that Jesus was not talking about
faith as large as a grain of mustard seed. Faith is not
measured by sight, or size. You cant see faith that shakes
invisible mountains. 18 You cant see it with the natural eye.
Like the atom it is invisible, but powerful. It will blow up
every mountain and win every battle.
The mustard seed was the smallest of all seed. When it
came up it would refuse to be discouraged. It would keep
13 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us,
leaving us an example that we should follow His steps (I Peter 2:21).
14 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with
power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed
of the devil; for God was with Him (Acts 10:38).
15 Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that believeth on me, the works that I
do shall he do also: and greater works than these shall he do; because I
go unto my Father (John 14:12).
16 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith,
praying in the Holy Ghost (Jude 20).
17 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send
in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your
remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you (John 14:26).
18 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things
not seen (Heb. 11:1).

11

Growing Faith

trying regardless of what happened. If a rock smashed it to

the ground it would keep trying. It would keep growing. If it
was covered up it would keep growing. It would never get
discouraged. It would never give up. It would keep looking up
and keep growing. All the winter long you might think it was
dead. But no, it would show itself after the freeze. Jack Frost,
and all the coldness, would not cause it to bow down under
discouragements and stop trying. It could be cut down,
bruised, covered up, and frozen. To the natural eye it looked
like it was gone. There were no hopes as far as the natural
eye could see. But it lifted its head toward the Heavenly
Father and kept looking up. 19 And one day it could be grown,
and be useful.20
If you will come to your Heavenly Father with courage
like that, all the devils in hell cant keep you down. As the
mustard seed depended on the natural laws, and had
confidence in the natural laws God made, you must have
faith and confidence in His Spiritual laws. Keep looking up!
Keep your head up! Refuse to be discouraged and dont give
up hope. Keep pressing on! Gods Word is true; just as true as
His natural laws. As long as the sun shines, as long as the
stars shine, as long as there is day or night, His Word to you
cannot fail.21 His Word will last longer than the heavens. 22
All the time the mustard is being cut down, all the time
that old man Jack Frost seemed to get the victory; all
through the freeze and discouraged stage; yes, when all the
19 ... Make thee a serpent of brass, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come
to pass, that everyone that is bitten, when he looketh upon it shall live
(Num. 21:8).
20 Which is indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the
greatest among herbs, and it becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air
come and lodge in the branches thereof (Matt. 13:32).
21 Thus saith the Lord; if ye can break my covenant of the day, and my
covenant of the night, and that there should not be day or night in their
season; then may also my covenant be broken... (Jer. 33:20).
22 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one
tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled (Matt. 5:18).

12

I Dont Have The Faith

beauty was gone, when it had no reputation, all was gone

and its beauty could not be seen, all during this time the
roots were reaching out. That is the reason it could be a
shelter when it was large.
Once more I want to say, read the Word, and be rooted
and grounded in good faith and nothing can shake you. 23 You
will then be of Some benefit. When no one seems to notice
you, when you are being tried, when it seems there is no
hope, when you are (so it seems) set on the shelf, keep
reading His precious Word. There you get faith which keeps
the storms of doubt, and the clouds of discouragements from
shaking you. Keep looking up! Keep pressing on! Refuse to
give up!

Are You Under Condemnation?

According to the Word of God we will have faith if we are
not under condemnation. 24 A woman with a filthy habit
professed to have the Holy Ghost. She told me she didnt feel
condemned about the habit. After a few weeks she told me to
pray for her that she could quit the habit. I asked her if she
thought it was wrong, or if she felt condemned about it. She
said she did not feel condemned about it, but the reason she
wanted to quit the habit was to obtain more faith. Every time
she almost got the answer to the prayer she was praying,
that habit would come up before her and would hinder her
faith.
So some people refuse to be condemned. They are looking
for a cyclone or something to come and condemn them. If our
hearts condemn us not we have faith. When you dont have
faith that proves that you must be condemned about
23 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and
grounded in love (Eph. 3:17).
24 Beloved if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward
God (I John 3:21).

13

Growing Faith

something. It may not be the sin of commission. It may be the

sin of disobedience. The wrath of God and punishment will be
the outcome of disobedience, just the same as the sin of
commission. 25 It is all sin in the sight of God. If a person
steals, he is a thief. If he kills, he is a murderer. If he lies, he
is a liar. If we sin we must be a sinner. Little children, these
things write I unto you that ye sin not.
We have confidence for the answer to our prayer if we do
those things which are pleasing in His sight and keep His
commandments.26 You must keep His commandments. If we
abide in Him and His Word abides in us we will have faith
when we pray. Start working for God and your faith will
come alive.
Happy is the man that condemneth not himself in the
thing which he alloweth. 27 It is a possibility that a man may
not be doing anything which is a sin and the accuser of the
brethren will come up and tell him he is failing God. Of
course, if he agrees with the devil, and admits that he is
failing God, he will have a hard time having faith and getting
the answer to his prayers. If he admits he is failing God then
he cant look into the face of the Father with confidence and
claim the promises.
For example, a young lady came to me and told me that
she was called to preach and she couldnt have faith for her
healing unless she went and preached. She told me that it
was an impossibility for her to preach under the
25 ... when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from Heaven with His mighty
angels, In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and
that they obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ (II Thes. 1:7-8).
26 And whatsoever we ask we receive of Him, because we keep His
commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in His sight.
And this is the confidence that we have in Him, that, if we ask anything
according to His will, He heareth us: And if we know that He hear us,
whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired
of Him (I John 3:22; 5:14-15).
27 Hast thou faith? have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that
condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth (Rom. 14:22).

14

I Dont Have The Faith

circumstances.
We prayed for another lady who said she couldnt get her
healing unless she played the guitar and sung and held
revivals. She couldnt make a tune on an instrument.
Those kind of people will have to remain sick or stop
listening to the accuser of the brethren. Im going to take the
stand that God is no hard taskmaster. He will not lay on us
more than we can bear. His commandments are not grievous.
28
If we keep His commandments we will get the answer and
have faith. Glory!
Would you tell your little girl to do something that she
could not do and then whip her because she didnt do it? To
accuse God of doing that is to accuse Him of being worse than
we are. Our Heavenly Father will not ask us to do anything
which we cannot do. I am glad of that. He loves us as much,
and more so, as we love our children. 29
Therefore, if we abide in Him and His Word abides in us,
if we keep His commandments, if we dwell in the secret place
of the Most High, if we abide in the shadow of the Almighty,
then we can do as King Hezekiah did. When he was on his
dying bed with what his people thought was an incurable
disease, he turned to the wall and told God that he had lived
for Him, and wanted to be healed. 30 Can you say that?
They are passing laws now to make mercy killing legal.
Three hundred ministers in the State of New York were in
favor of that law. Under that law when a Physician
28 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His
commandments are not grievious (I John 5:3).
29 Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have
compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not
forget thee (Is. 49:15).
30 Then he turned his face to the wall, and prayed unto the Lord, saying, I
beseech thee, O Lord, remember now how I have walked before thee in
truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy
sight. And Hezekiah wept sore... I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy
tears: behold, I WILL HEAL THEE... (II Kings 20:2-5).

15

Growing Faith

pronounces a person with an incurable disease they may go

ahead and take their life. Under that law they may kill a
person like King Hezekiah, and the woman with the issue of
blood, that the Physicians sent home to die, because they
could not help her.31 They both lived, however, because there
are no incurables with God. Glory!
Some say they fail God every day (even if they dont) to
keep from exalting themselves. If you fail Him every day you
are a sinner and need to repent. If you dont fail Him every
day, you must not let the devil get your faith by agreeing
with him.
I know of an old woman who said she sinned every day.
Someone asked her what she did which was a sin. After
studying awhile she said that she did not know. She was a
godly woman, but she thought that would be exalting herself
to say that she obeyed God, so she agreed with the devil. If
you fail God every day you are sinning every day. He that
knoweth to do good and doeth it not to him it is sin. He that
committeth sin is of the devil. If any man sin his name will
be taken out of the Book of Life. All who do not have their
names written in the Book of Life at the Judgment day will
be cast into the Lake of Fire. If you sin you know it.
Therefore, dont say you are sinning unless you know. If you
know you are sinning, dont justify yourself in it, but confess
it, and get forgiveness and then you will have faith. Then you
can

Do Like Enoch
Enoch was the type of the raptured saints. So I can tell
you exactly what you will have to do to make the Rapture. He
31 And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years, and
had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she
had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse... And he said
unto her, daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be
made whole of thy plague (Mk. 5:25, 26, 34).

16

I Dont Have The Faith

had this testimony that he pleased God. He didnt get up and

testify that he failed God every day, or say that he wanted
the people all to pray that he would hold out faithful to the
end. He walked with God and had a testimony that he
pleased God. Paul had a similar testimony when He said he
wanted the Lord to come. He said he had fought a good fight.
He left a testimony that he had finished his course. He said a
crown of righteousness was laid up for him, and for everyone
who loved His appearing. Do you have a testimony that you
have kept the faith? He would loved to have seen the Lord
coming for he was ready, because he had kept the faith.
There is a difference in Pauls testimony and a person who
says that he fails God every day, and has lost his faith.
God has no respect to persons. He is the same today. He
changes not.32 He tells us to contend for the faith that Elijah,
Paul, and Enoch had.33 They had a testimony that they
pleased God. They didnt exalt themselves by saying that, for
that was no more than their duty. After we obey God and do
all He bids us, we are to say we are unprofitable servants.
Therefore, lets be faithful and we will have faith.
Whatever is not of faith is sin. 34 Get rid of that excuse and
get your healing!

Faith Is Simple
Dont try to make something hard out of faith. I heard
that a man was looking through a telescope for a worm. He
was looking away off and straining his eyes. Someone said,
dont be silly, the worm is right close to your eyes. So faith
32 For I am the Lord, I change not... (Mal. 3:6).
33 Beloved when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common
salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that
you should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered to
the saints (Jude 3).
34 And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith:
for whatsoever is not of faith is sin (Rom. 14:23).

17

Growing Faith

is so simple people try to make something hard out of it.

As I was writing these lines my four-year-old boy came
running to me saying, Daddy, you remember what you said;
you said that if I would go to sleep and be a good boy at
church last night you would give me a nickel. Give it to me;
you said you would. He had confidence in me that I was
truthful. Therefore, I did not want to betray his confidence.
So I gave him the nickel. What got it? He reminded me of my
word.
If he had been a mean boy at church he could not have
reminded me of what I said, as he would not have met the
condition. He had confidence that he would get the nickel for
he kept my commandments and did that which was pleasing
in my sight. That is the confidence that Our Heavenly Father
wants us to have in Him. When we remind Him of His Word,
and tell Him we have met the condition, and do it with
perfect confidence, then He is obligated to answer and He
will answer, for it is impossible for Him to lie. 35
If you had never told your little girl a lie, and told her
that you had bought her a doll for Christmas, she would
undoubtedly say, Guess what Mother bought me for
Christmasa doll! She would do that before the doll was
presented. Oh, that we would believe our Heavenly Fathers
Word like that instead of telling all the people in town that
we have no faith in His Word or promises! Who is to blame if
you dont have faith?
If I loan you my car once per week, or once per month,
you would not ordinarily overhaul it and fix the body. If I
give you my car to keep, then you will overhaul it and fix up
the body. If you just loan yourself to God once each Sunday,
or once each revival, and reserve the rest of the time for your
selfish desires to consume on your own lusts, then dont
35 ... in which is was impossible for God to lie... (Heb. 6:18).

18

I Dont Have The Faith

expect Him to overhaul, or refill you, or fix up your body. 36

That is the whole thing in a nutshell! If our heart condemn
us not we have faith.
Present yourself, your body, as a living sacrifice, holy, and
acceptable to God. He will fix up that which belongs to Him.
But His glory He will not give to another. 37 He is jealous over
you when you use your body for other things just as you are
over your wife when she gives her attention to others instead
of you.

Can't You Believe God?

Faith is believing God and taking Him at His Word. Yet
there are so many people who go around over town telling
people they cant believe God. Is that very much
advertisement for Him. Will that exalt Him? Just what do
you think He thinks? How do you think He feels when we
talk that way?
Oh, dont you think He would feel much better if we
would go around over town and tell the people who do not
know God, and others also, that we believe everything that
the Lord says? After all, it is not a question if we have the
faith, but the question is, do you think He is truthful? Do you
think He is honest. His Word is either the truth or it is a lie.
It is impossible for Him to lie. Therefore, we should tell
everyone we meet that we believe God, that we find Him
truthful, and there is no doubt but what His Word is truth.
This way we would build faith instead of tearing down faith.
Just how would your husband feel if you told everyone
36 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye
present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which
is your reasonable service (Rom. 12:1).
Ye ask and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon
your own lusts (Jas. 4:3).
37 I am the Lord: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another,
neither my praise to graven images (Is. 42:8).

19

Growing Faith

over town you meet up with, that you wish you could believe
him. Suppose I would hear you saying this, I wish I could
believe my husband. I have tried and tried so hard to believe
him, but I just cant. I would form the opinion very soon that
you had a liar for a husband. You couldnt trust him. He
must be untrue to you. You must have tried him over and
over, and he has lied to you so much you have gotten to the
place that you cant depend on anything he says anymore.
Probably he is a drunkard and a liar, or a cheat. Now if I
would draw that opinion of your husband by hearing you
make such statements about him, what opinion do people
form of God, who have never known Him, if you make public
the statement that you wish you could believe Him but just
cant. They think He has been unfair in His dealings, or at
least they are not enticed to come and trust in the Lord. 38
Lets be careful not to insult God like that, for the way
spiritual laws (that bring us blessing and answers) operate is
on our confidence in Him. No wonder that He puts the
unbelievers with the murderers and adulterers and all the
bad people.39 Unbelief is of the devil and God is against it.
That is the reason God says that he that believeth not shall
be damned.40 He further says he that believeth not God, has
made Him a liar.41 He will not work for us when we make
Him a liar.
I have never lied to my wife. And she has no reason for
38 For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you
to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ (II
Cor. 11:2)
39 ... how that the Lord having saved the people out of the land of Egypt,
afterward destroyed them that believed not (Jude 5).
But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and
the whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have
their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is
the second death (Rev. 21:8).
40 ... but he that believeth not shall be damned (Mk. 16:16).
41 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that
believeth not God hath made Him a liar;... (I John 5:10).

20

I Dont Have The Faith

not believing me. If I would go to her today and tell her that I
had bought and paid for a new coat down at a certain store,
and tell her to get it while she is in town, I believe she would
go in and ask for the coat without feeling that she would be
denied the coat, or be embarrassed when she asked for her
new coat. I believe that before she reached town she would
tell her lady friends she met on the street, I have a new coat
down at that store, and I must go by after it.
Now if my wife has confidence like that in me why
shouldnt we have confidence in our kind, truthful, Heavenly
Father? Lets tell people that our healing is bought and paid
for, and it is ours.
If my wife said she had a new coat before she saw it on
the grounds that it was paid for, then we can say that we
have our healing on the grounds that it is paid for, even
before we see it.
I could go a step further and say I give a receipt to my
wife where I paid for the coat. The merchants name is signed
meaning that the coat was paid for in full. How can she keep
from believing? If she would believe in me why should we not
believe in God? Philippians 4:19 is a clear receipt that we
have all we need.42 Isaiah 53:5 is a receipt that our healing is
paid for. First Peter 2:24 is a receipt that our healing is,
Paid in Full.43
Yes, all my wife must do is to just go after the coat. If she
believes it is there she will go after it. Therefore, all we must
do is go after our healing. If you really believe God, you will
come after it. You will not go around telling people that you
just cant believe God. You will not say, I am going to go up
42 But my God shall supply all your needs according to his riches in glory
by Christ Jesus (Phil. 4:19).
43 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our
iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with His
stripes we are healed (Is. 53:5).
Who His own self bare our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, being dead to
sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed (I Peter 2:24).

there and see if I get anything. You will not say, If it is for
me, I want it. You will say, I am going after my healing.
And you will carry it back with you. Glory!
Believe in God. I went up on an elevator the other day. A
little colored girl operated it. Previous to this I had heard of
several cases where people were killed in elevators. As we
were moving upward the thought came to me that I trusted
this colored girl to bring me safely where I wanted to go. And
I said to myself, If I can trust my life with the colored girl
why shouldnt I believe in God? By all means I shouldnt run
all over town telling people I cant believe what God has
said.

You Have Faith in Other Things

When you start to town, and it is raining, you step on
your starter, and then you turn on the windshield wiper. If it
is night time you turn on the lights. If it is cold you turn on
the heater and defroster. You wouldnt turn any of these
things on if you had no faith in them. You would leave them
off. And you wouldnt even start to town.
So have as much faith in your Heavenly Father as you do
in your old car. Turn on the power. Be connected, and He will
work every time. He wont be like your old car is at times. He
is always ready, you just need to stay connected.
When you go home you probably turn on the lights. You
turn on your refrigerator. You turn on the electric iron. There
are hundreds of things which operate by electricity. You
wouldnt turn any of these things on if you had no faith at all
in them.
Lets have as much faith in God as we do electricity. If the
connections are alright it will not fail to work. God will never
fail. Just stay connected.
How much faith do you have in Uncle Sam? You carry one
22

I Dont Have The Faith

hundred dollars down to the Post Office. Then you hand it

over to the Post Master and tell him that you want to send a
money order to some company to buy something. Do you
think Uncle Sam is truthful enough to take care of your one
hundred dollars? You have faith in a thousand ways in Uncle
Sam or you wouldnt take his promises in money orders or
paper money. The treasury of the U.S.A. can go broke. Our
Heavenly Bank can never go broke.
Lets have as much faith in our Heavenly Father as we do
Uncle Sam.
How does God feel when we have faith in everything else
and go around saying we have no faith in Him? He will not
work when we make Him a liar.
Dont you have faith in natural laws? Did you ever know
them to fail? You will plant your garden expecting to get the
fruit thereof. If you didnt have any faith whatsoever in
Mother Nature you would never waste the time, money, or
energy preparing your ground for the seed. You know that
whatsoever you sow you will reap. If you sow wheat you are
not afraid that it will bring forth a crop of thorns.
Now if you have faith in nature you should have faith in
God, who is the creator of nature and therefore more
powerful and faithful. He has spiritual laws which work. One
of them is, blessed is he that believeth for he shall see.
Lets have faith in our God. Lets plant the imperishable
seed44 of the Word of God in the broken soil of our souls. 45 133
It will bring forth faith. Trust this seed. If you believe in
cotton seed, you should believe in the imperishable seed of
the Word of God. Plant it in your heart. After you are prayed
for, trust it to bring forth the harvest.
44 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the
Word of God, which liveth and abideth forever (I Peter 1:23).
45 For thus saith the Lord... break up the fallow ground and sow not
among thorns (Jer. 4:3).

23

Growing Faith

Imagine a farmer scratching his seed up every day to see

if he believes they are going to come up. That is like you
being prayed for and worrying and trying to believe He has
sent His Word and healed you. Trust the imperishable as you
would the perishable.
The main reason that God will not work where there is
unbelief is that unbelief is always of the devil. There is not
much of God where there is unbelief in a persons heart. 46 We
have seen there is faith in a persons heart when he is just
right with God. We also see in Jude and Revelations 20 that
unbelievers are classed with the worst people and will go to
the Lake of Fire with the worst class of sinners. Therefore,
we should also read Mark 16 where it plainly says, through
inspiration, that he that believeth not shall be damned. 47
In the face of all this I think it would be wise for us to
recognize the source of this unbelief which is causing us not
to have faith, and do something about it.
What must we do about it if we have unbelief in our
hearts? Just be honest about it, and say, Lord I believe; help
Thou my unbelief.48 Then through the mighty anointing of
the Holy Ghost the servants of God can gather around you
and cast the unbelieving and doubting spirits out of you and
you will be free.
The reason I am making this so plain is because we first
have to realize our need of God before we will confess and get
help from God. If we confess our sins He is faithful and just
to forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
There are not many people who are honest enough to confess
that unbelief is of the devil; therefore, they seem to think it is
46 And He saith unto them, Why are ye so fearful, O ye of little faith? Then
He arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great
calm (Matt. 8:26).
47 But he that believeth not shall be damned (Mk. 16:16b).
48 And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears.
Lord I believe; help thou mine unbelief (Mk. 9:24).

24

I Dont Have The Faith

an honor to go around and tell the poor people who want to

trust God that they do not have the faith. Truly it honors no
one but satan to make such remarks.

God Reveals Himself to Faith

Very often someone comes around, who is very zealous for
the Lord, and says something like this: I wish you would
pray for a certain 'incurable down in a certain section of
town. They are all unbelievers. If God would just heal him to
show them He can! They would all believe in God then.
In the first place God does not reveal Himself to unbelief.
He reveals Himself to faith. He refuses to work for the ones
who make Him a liar.
We are supposed to believe the Word of God. The world
says, show me and I will believe. The Lord says, Believe
and I will show you.49
The truth of the matter is if these unbelievers were
shown ever so much they would still remain in unbelief; for
they are full of satan and he instills unbelief in their hearts.
Look in the ninth chapter of Johns gospel and you will
see a man who had been blind more than twenty-one years.
The people all knew him. When he was healed the people
would not confess it. They said that he was someone just like
him.50 His parents would acknowledge that he was their boy,
but would not give Jesus the glory for it.
Just so, if God heals someone who is full of unbelief they
will not give Him the glory for it. They will say it would have
happened anyway, or they will have some kind of an excuse.
God will not work where people will not give Him the praise.
49 Therefore, I say unto you. What things soever ye desire, when ye pray,
believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them (Mk. 11:24).
50 Some said this is he: others said he is like him: but he said. I am he (St.
John 9:9).

25

Growing Faith

Unbelief will not do that, for unbelief is of the devil.

A man came up to me crying as I was working in a
butcher shop. I was sorry for the man. I asked him what his
trouble was. He told me that his boy had been given up to
die. His boy had been sent to several hospitals but they all
sent him home to die, stating that he had tumor of the brain
which would eat through the last tissues any minute. The
longest any of them gave him to live was five months and he
might go anytime. He had been to the state hospital for
nervous diseases. Yet, no one could do him any good.
He had as high as twenty-six epileptic fits in one night.
And it took five men to hold him on the bed even though he
was very slim, and weak. He was unconscious at the time his
dad came and told his story to me. He would get up in the
middle of the night with a shot-gun to kill himself. He had
been known to get on top of a high house and jump off. An
evil spirit was in him trying to kill him.
I told the man that his boy was a backslider, and if he
would repent and get right with GodGod would heal him.
He went on down the street crying. He said that no one could
backslide. And besides that he said the days of miracles were
past.
I went to visit this mans son. He was unconscious. He did
not know when I got there. His wife prayed with me beside
his bed. Her hopes seemed to be all gone.
The next evening when I got off from work and went by
the house, he was ready to go to church. He came forward to
be prayed for. While we were praying for him he went into
one of his spells and looked like he would die. The devil was
cast out and we got the victory through the Blood of Jesus
Christ.
About five years have gone by and this man has never
had another fit as I know of. But still his dad is full of
26

I Dont Have The Faith

unbelief, and says he doesnt believe in healing. He says it

would have happened anyway.
I could relate hundreds of cases where people said if
people will get healed or receive the Holy Ghost they will
believe it; but after it happened they continued on in
unbelief. Therefore, the first step for them is to repent and
get right with God, and get the unbelief cast out, and then
they will have faith.
The only reason I mention this is to show you why God
manifests Himself to faith. He wants the glory. His glory He
will not give to another.
The kind of faith God likes to see is similar to the kind
you like to see. Your little girl hears you say that you have
bought her a doll for Christmas. She jumps up and down. She
tells all her girl friends that she got a new doll for Christmas.
Listen at her talk Christmas Eve. She has not seen the doll
yet, but what is she saying? Mother bought me a new doll,
goody, goody! Guess what I got for Christmas! I got a new
doll.
She hasnt seen the doll yet. As the hour comes for the
doll to be put on the tree, or presented, she jumps up and
down and shouts, Im anxious to see my new doll Mother
bought for me. Oh there is my new doll!
Would you disappoint the girl? No, a thousand times no!
And the Lord loves you as much and more so, as you love
your little girl. He wants you to have that kind of confidence
in His Word.
What if your little girl would go all over town and tell all
your friends something like this? Mother said she would buy
me a doll. But I cant believe her. I wish she was truthful.
She might come to the tree to get the doll. She might see the
doll on the tree. But if she did not even believe you would
keep your word, she would probably say, there is a doll on
27

Growing Faith

the tree but I know it is not mine; it is my little cousins doll.

If she really didnt believe you would buy the doll or keep
your word, she would already be gone when the doll was
ready to be given away.
That is just a picture of someone seeking healing. If you
really dont believe God will do what He says; if you cant
believe God, then you will not wait until the healing is
manifested because you dont believe Him. You are gone
when the answer comes.
After all, faith that is seen is not faith. After you see it, it
ceases to be faith right then. God delights in us believing His
Word; lets not make Him a liar.

Count Healing in the Past

After you pray for something and believe that you receive
it, count it done. As long as you count it in the future that is
not the faith that gets things from God.
Abraham walked around his old farm praising God
because God had given him a son several years before he saw
the son. He said, God has given me a son. Why could he say
that? Why? Didnt God my that? Sure. God said, Abraham, I
have given you a son. He didnt see the son. But because he
believed God it was counted unto Him for righteousness. 51
Faith is not gained by begging or struggling. That hinders
your faith. True faith is a sure foundation.
If we will accept the promises of God, believe His Word,
and act as if it is true, then God will make them true. Do not
merely believe that He will, but believe that He does do it
now, and believe that He begins the work of healing in your
body.
51 For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was
counted unto him for righteousness (Rom. 4:5).

28

I Dont Have The Faith

Faith Is Courage
Without a certain amount of courage you cannot do a
thing. Without courage you cannot put your shoes on, or
wash your face in the morning, let alone go to work. Next to
the worst thing in the world is a real discouraged man who
has no courage to try anything. Discouragement is the best
tool the devil has.
It was Spurgeon who went several miles into the country
to an old farm house to get a lesson from the Nightingale.
The night was so dark and stormy this noted preacher had
decided the bird would not appear at the window. About the
time he started to bed the bird appeared in the middle of the
storm.
At midnight when the storm was at its worst he heard
the song start. It thrilled the preachers very heart. He got
out of bed and slipped quietly to the window. There was the
little bird in a thorn bush, with its breast against a thorn,
singing as if its heart would break. Mr. Spurgeon got down
on his knees right there and told God to help him to have
that much faith. Often in his sermons from then on he would
be heard saying, Faith is the nightingale of the Christian
graces.
Regardless of the doubt around you keep trusting. The
promises of Jesus is for you. You are the child He loves.
Trust in Him. Have confidence in Him, and He will give you
the desires of your heart.

How to Get Faith

Many seek healing before they know enough of the Word
of God to create faith. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by
the Word of God. There is a state you can get in by hearing
enough of the promises of God to be certain of your healing
29

Growing Faith

before you are prayed for. You can be prayed for before you
receive enough of the Word and if you fail to get your healing
it will stagger your faith. You will always look to your past
failures when you start to be prayed for.
Therefore, get all the promises you can. Ask God to
especially reveal one to you. Stand on that promise and quote
it to the devil when you feel a symptom.
Another translation of Hebrews 1:1 is: Faith is the
title-deed to the unseen things we hope for. 52 If I give
you a deed to a farm and mark it paid in full, and you have
it recorded according to law, that place is so much yours you
can sell it before you ever see it. You have confidence in the
government so much you would call the place yours before
you saw it.
The New Testament is the title-deed to your healing.
Dont you believe God as much as you do me or the
government?

Your Faith Can Grow

We have already mentioned that your faith can grow. But
I want to mention once again how you can go from faith to
faith.53 You first have natural faith. You have dead faith.
You have live faith. You have little faith. You have common
faith. How can your faith grow? Read Jude 20. 54 One way to
build up your faith is to pray in the Holy Ghost. See how
Paul did this to edify himself. 55 That will build our faith. Do
52 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things
not seen. (Heb. 11:1).
53 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as
it is written, the just shall live by faith (Rom. 1:17).
54 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith,
praying in the Holy Ghost (Jude 20).
55 He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that
prophesieth edifieth the church... (I Cor. 14:4). What is it then? I will pray
with the Spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also... (I Cor.
14:15) (Next verse shows that when a person prays, sings, or praises in the Spirit

30

I Dont Have The Faith

this during your spare hours and youll have the gift of faith.

The Prayer of Faith

You say you dont have the faith. If you had the faith you
would not have to ask anyone to pray for you. That is the
reason that you call for someone to come and pray for you.
That is the reason you go to other folk to be prayed for,
because you do not have the faith. Dont depend on your
faith.
Once there were four men who brought a sick man to
Jesus. When Jesus saw their faith He told him to arise and
take up his bed and walk. 56 Jesus saw their faith. He will
honor faith wherever He sees it.
Once there was a Nobleman who came to the Lord. He
prayed that his son would be alright.57 We have no record
that the son knew anything about it before he was healed.
Once there was a nobleman who came to the Lord. He
prayed that Lord to have mercy on her daughter for she was
vexed with the devil. She humbled herself and kept praying.
Finally Jesus told her that she had great faith. 58 Her
daughter was made whole. The woman prayed through for
her daughter. We have no record that the daughter knew
anything about it at all. He commended the womans faith.
it is in the unknown tongue.) (There is no restriction on speaking in tongues
except teaching people without an interpreter. (v5 vl9). There is no restriction on
praying or singing, or praising in tongues. It builds your faith). Paul did lots of
his speaking is tongues in secret or he couldnt have spoken in tongues more than
them all (v. 19) (v. 18). No wonder he was rewarded openly (Matt. 6:6).
56 When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy. Son thy
sins be forgiven thee... Arise and take up thy bed, and go thy way into
thine house (Mk. 2:5, 11).
57 Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way, thy son liveth. And the Man believed
the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way (John
4:50).
58 Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith; be
it unto thee even as thy wilt. And her daughter was made whole from
that hour (Matt. 15:28).

31

Growing Faith

We could relate one instance after another where babies,

or insane people, have been healed. It takes the faith of
others mostly when people who have been deaf and dumb all
their life, are healed.
Just remember in James five, the Lord said for the sick to
send for the elders of the church and let them pray over him
anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. The prayer of
faith would save the sick and the Lord would raise him up. 59
If he had faith enough he would not need to call for the
elders. That settles it once and for all. The prayer of faith
shall save the sick. The Lord shall raise him up.
Whoever prays the prayer of faith gets the results. But
you need a little faith. Have faith in the person who is
praying that he can pray the prayer of faith. Have faith
enough to come and be prayed for. Have faith enough to obey
God when He speaks to you to do something. Then you shall
see it come to pass.

The Sixth Sense

We know that the five senses are touch, taste, smell,
sight, and hearing. But faith is the sixth sense. You believe
things before you see them. If you believe it then you will see
it.
Lets use for example the quails that God sent the
children of Israel. Suppose they got down on their knees and
prayed for them. They prayed until they felt the assurance
that they would come. That is faith. They knew they were
coming, for they felt the witness. That is faith. Then they
looked up and saw them coming. In another half minute they
reached up and caught some. They felt them. Then they put
them on the fire and started to cook them. They began to
smell them. When they were done they ate them. They tasted
59 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him
up... (James 5:15)

32

I Dont Have The Faith

them.
There we have all six senses. Just because they had not
yet tasted them that was no proof they were not there, for
they smelled them. Just because they could not smell them
was no sign they were not there, for they had felt them. Just
a minute before then, because they had not felt them was no
sign they were not there, for they had heard them. Just
before then, because they had not yet heard them was no
proof they were not being sent by the Lord, for they saw
them. Just before then, because they didnt see them was no
proof that God was not sending them for they had the
assurance in their souls, which was the substance of things
hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. 60 They were
standing on the Word of God, which was better proof than
any of their other five senses.
Therefore, you see if you have faith it is surely coming.
Just because you dont see it with your eyes is no proof it is
not coming, for God said blessed is he that believeth for he
shall see. Faith is no more faith after you see what faith
reaches out for. The minute you see it, it changes from faith
to sight.
Therefore, when you believe, wait until you see it. Dont
try to see it before you believe. That is having Gods program
backward. Some even want to feel it before they use the sixth
sense of believing, as Gods Word commands us to do. 61
Lets ask God for the sixth sense. When a person is
without one of the five senses they are not all there. They are
partly dead. They are not like God intends for them to be. So
when we are without the sixth sense we are not at our self
spiritually. Pray for the sixth sense.
60 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things
not seen (Heb. 11:1).
61 And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of
those things which were told her of the Lord (Luke 1:45).

33

Growing Faith

Suppose you live in a cave which is one hundred percent

dark; if you have no light for ten years, you would lose your
vision. You would be as blind as you could be when you came
out. So if you do not use the sixth sense for awhile you will
lose it. Faith without works is dead being alone. 62
Many times you can pray in the Holy Ghost and God will
drop the gift of faith right down in your heart. 63 You will have
the assurance, or the sixth sense, before you see. Then it will
surely come to pass.

The Final Step

As someone has said, its like the marriage ceremony
when you bring your case to God. It is signalizing and sealing
a great transaction. Before you take this step weigh every
question. Then regard them as forever settled. Step out
definitely on the new ground of the promises of God. Do it
with the conviction that it is forever. This gives your heart
strength. Count it settled once and forever. Trust the
Specialist, the Great Physician, when you put your case in
His hands. Believe He has begun the work. That will close
the door against a thousand doubts and questions.
He that cometh unto God must believe that He is, and
that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. 64 If
He says He is, then why not believe He is?
Come right on! Change your doubt for a shout.

62 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone (James 2:17).
63 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another gifts of healing by the
same Spirit (I Cor. 12:9). (See note 4).
64 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to
God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that
diligently seek Him (Heb. 11:6).

Chapter II
2

I Am Reaping What I Sowed

Well, if the Devil cant come at us one way, he will

another. This excuse is hardly worth considering; but we will
take up just a little space with it. For there are people who
will use this faith-destroying excuse. Even if they do not say
it with their mouths they will have it in their minds. You
may never know it, but they will blame themselves with their
afflictions by saying they are reaping what they sowed.
They think that is the way to be humble. But the way to
be humble, as we have learned, is to receive your healing,
and stop making God out a liar.

We Are a New Creature

If the Bible teaches anything it teaches that when we are
saved we become new creatures in Christ Jesus. Old things
pass away. We take on a new nature. Jesus forgives and
forgets. Our sins are planted in the sea of forgetfulness and
they are never remembered any more. We are justified.
Someone put it Just-as-if-I-had-never sinned. That is
actually what happens when we are redeemed. Our record is
erased or blotted out. We are delivered from sin and its
consequences.
The Devil will try to bring up the past and charge us up
with it. But we can remind him the past is under the blood.
One time, it is said, the Devil brought a long list of sins up to
Martin Luther. Luther asked what that meant. The Devil
said, this is your sins which you have committed. Luther
was discouraged for awhile, then he thought: He said, the
35

Growing Faith

blood of Jesus took them away. The Devil had to flee. The
Devil will flee every time if you will quote a scripture to him.
Our sins are removed as far from us as the east is from
the west.
We are no longer held accountable for them. Sickness is
the result of sin. God does not hold us responsible for it. 65

A Sinners Excuse
What would you do if you were trying to get a sinner to
receive salvation and he would put up that excuse? Imagine
him saying: I cant get saved for I have been very wicked,
and the Bible says that I have to reap what I sowed when I
was young.
According to that argument my son will have to be a
drunkard if I was a drunkard when I was young. According
to that argument no one can get saved. I am so glad that it is
not that way. Jesus will save us regardless of what we have
sown. He will forgive and forget.
The very wicked woman at the well who had five
husbands, and was living with a man without being married,
was forgiven and sent to win others for Christ. Jesus said to
a very wicked woman, Thy sins which are many are
forgiven thee. Again to a woman caught in the worst of
sins He said, Neither do I condemn thee; go and sin no
more. He didnt tell them they must reap what they had
sown. He forgives and forgets. If He forgets then He will
never turn anyone away by telling him he must stay sick
because he sinned when he was young.
The Lord says it is possible for a person to sow without
reaping.66 He was talking about when he did not stay there to

reap. A person can sow and another can reap. Therefore, you
will not have to reap what you have sown if you will become
a Christian.
God said we would have to meet every word we say at the
Judgment. But He also tells us that we can send it on before
us, so we will not have to meet it. It can be blotted out where
it will not be on our record.

Works Both Ways

If your argument is true a Christian can never be lost.
When a Christian sows good seed when he is young he will
have to reap that seed when he gets old. So he could never be
lost. That is not according to scripture. Let us look into the
facts.
The Lord says if a sinner turns from his sins and does
righteousness he will live. We know that. In the same
scripture he says that if a righteous man turns from his
righteousness, and commits iniquity for that iniquity he
commits he will die for it, and his righteousness will never be
remembered anymore. 67
The Lord tells us in so many places that a Christian can
get to the place where it would have been better if he had
never known the way of righteousness. A brother can
sin a sin unto death. A Christian can fall away, commit the
unpardonable sin, get past feelings, have a reprobate mind,
67 But if the wicked turn from his sins that he hath committed, and keep
all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely
live, he shall not die. All his transgressions that he hath committed, they
shall not be remembered unto him: in his righteousness that he has done
he shall live... But again when the wicked man turneth from his
wickedness that he hath committed, and doeth that which is lawful and
right, he shall save his soul alive.) But when the righteous turneth away
from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and doeth according to
all the abominations that the wicked man doeth, shall he live? All his
righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned... and in his sin
that he hath sinned, in them shall he die (Ezek. 18:21-24).

receive a delusion, have their conscience seared, or get a

seducing spirit.68
It is possible to sow wheat and reap thorns. 69 That
happens when a righteous man turns from his righteousness
and commits sin. If that is true, it is also true that we can
sow thorns and reap wheat. Therefore a wicked man, if he
accepts Jesus, can enter into the harvest for which others
have labored, and not have to reap what he sows. 70
In the same scripture which says we will reap what we
sow Paul goes on to explain in due season we will reap what
we sow, if we faint not. In other words a person who faints,
and stops working for God, will not reap what he sows. If
that is true, it is also true that you can stop working for the
Devil and go to working for God, and not have to reap what
you sowed for the Devil. 71
Dont you know that you can change a weed patch into a
corn patch? According to your argument, a piece of ground,
when sown in weeds, can never have anything grown on it
except weeds. No, you can change it into a corn patch. You
can get rid of the weeds.
Get rid of your weeds of excuses and doubts, and sow the
good seed of the Word of God, and you will reap a harvest of
faith and healing!
According to your argument, if a person is healthy when
he is young he can never be sick when he becomes old. Its a
poor rule that will not work both ways. You can change your
weed patch into a corn patch.
68 Run these references for proof: (II Peter 2:21); (I John 5:16); (Heb.. 6:1-6); (Eph.
4:19); (Rom. 1:21, 28); (I Tim. 4:1-6), etc.
69 They have sown wheat, but they shall reap thorns... (Jer. 12:13).
70 I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men
laboured,, and ye entered into their labors (John 4:38).
71 And let us not be weary in well doing, for in due season we shall reap, if
we faint not (Gal. 6:9).

I Am Reaping What I Sowed

Let the Word Be Sown

Many times we can sow today and reap tomorrow. You
can break the laws of health today and reap sickness
tomorrow. Have you not reaped your crop? Now you can sow
another crop.
I have seen the Word bring a harvest the same day it was
sown. Gods Word is the seed. Many times it will reap very
rapidly. While Peter was yet speaking, the Holy Ghost fell on
all them that heard the Word. When Phillip went and
preached Jesus to the people, he reaped a harvest on the
same trip. This happened many times in the Bible. While
Phillip sowed the seed the man in the chariot was saved.
Many times the Word has gone forth, and someone has
reaped it and received their healing while the words were
spoken. The other night I started to pray for about six people.
The first woman was deaf in one ear. While I was praying for
the other five I let her read a verse. When I got back to her
she was healed already. She had reaped the harvest in about
ten minutes. So powerful is the seed of Gods Word! The
Word of God is the seed sown in our hearts. 72
Another thought is this: We can reap what others have
sown. That being the case then someone can sow the seed
and we can enter into their labours. We can receive salvation
and reap a harvest of healing the same day.
If it takes a few days, or weeks, for the seed to bring forth
fruit, depending on what kind of ground it is sown on, just
wait patiently. Remember the unseen work is being done
through faith. A farmer has faith in the seed he sows. He
does not scratch up his seed every day to see if they are
really doing the work. That would kill them.
I have seen people that impatient; after the Word has
72 And some fell on stony ground, where it had not much earth... (Mk. 4:5).

been sown in their hearts they feel around to see if they can
feel any pain. They want to see the results at once. If a
farmer did that, and scratched up his seed, and never had
any faith in the natural seed, he would never reap a harvest.
We should have as much confidence in the unperishable seed
of the Word of God as the farmer has in the perishable seed
in the natural. If the seed has been sown, just have
confidence that the healing is coming.
The Bible says that we are Gods field. 73 So let the seed of
the Word be sown in your heart. If you dont see results just
wait. If you believe that whatsoever a man soweth he will
reap, just dont be weary in well doing, you will reap healing
if you dont faint.
Dont let doubts be sown. Sow the Word of God. Faith
comes by hearing the Word of God. Your heart is Gods field.
Break up the fallow ground, and let it be a good field. Get rid
of the weeds of doubt. Water the field with the Spirit and
Holy Ghost teaching.

We Are Under Grace

According to that argument no one could receive healing.
The Devil will tell us that we have all sown bad seed. And he
is correct (but Gods grace covers the world). We would never
know when to trust God for our healing. We all break natural
laws sometimes. I could have never obtained my healing.
The man who fell out of the window was the cause of it.
He had no business going to sleep. Paul could have told him
that it was impossible for him to be healed, because he was
the cause of it. NO! The grace of God was extended even to
him. Paul reaped the harvest by his teaching that very night.
That man was healed, even if he was the cause of it by going
73 For we are labourers together with God: ye are Gods husbandry, ye are
God's building (I Cor. 3:9).

to sleep.74
It was the Old Law that said, an eye for an eye and a
tooth for a tooth. If we had gotten what was due us we
would have all been in Hell long ago. When a person deserves
death Jesus takes his place and gives him life. This is Gods
grace!

What Does the Bible Say?

Do we ever find in the Bible where a person was turned
away and was refused healing, because he had not lived right
years before? Your goodness will never purchase your
healing. Your badness will not keep you from receiving your
healing if you will repent.
Do you find any of these scriptures in the Bible? Many
are the afflictions of the righteous, but God delivers him out
of them allproviding he has never sown any bad seed when
young. Who forgiveth all our iniquities; who healeth all our
diseasesif we have been good all our lives. They shall lay
hands on the sick and they shall recoverproviding they
have never sown bad seed when young. The prayer of faith
shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up,
providing he has never sinned. No! It does not read that
way. But it says, if he has committed any sins they shall be
forgiven him.75 When He forgives He forgets. That would
include all of you and anybody! Thank God for His Grace!
Here is Bible proof: God says we can go on in sin and do
things to bring diseases on ourselves. Then we cry out to God
74 And Paul went down and fell on him, and embracing him said, trouble
not yourselves, for his life is in him (Acts 20:10).
75 Many are the afflictions of the righteous; but the Lord delivereth him
out of them all (Ps. 34:19). Who forgiveth all thy iniquities; who healeth
all thy diseases (Ps. 103:3). They shall lay hands on the sick and they
shall recover (Mk. 16:18). And the prayer of faith shall save the sick and
the Lord shall raise him up... (James 5:15).

Growing Faith

and He will heal us.76 What more proof do you want? The
direct, plain promises of God are all we need. Tell the Devil
he will have to bring out another one of his excuses; that one
will not stand up under the searchlight of the Word of God.

Why Try to Get Well?

If you really believe that you are going to have to reap
what you sow why dont you act like you believe it? Then I
will believe you believe it. If you have to keep the disease,
then it is useless to take medicine. You could give that money
to the Lord. You cant get well any way. Why would you go to
every hospital and doctor in the country? Tell the doctors
what you tell me. Tell them there is no use in trying to take
medicine, or trying to get well, for you will have to suffer the
rest of your days, because you did not live right in your young
days.
I know a good brother who was suffering. He told me the
reason he did not receive his healing: was that he sowed his
wild oats while he was young? As long as he believed that, it
was according to his faith. When I explained to him the Word
of God, he went and was prayed for again. The last time I
saw him he said he had received his healing. He was glad I
told him the truth and set him right. What I am telling you
has been tested out. It will work, because it also is the
eternal Word of God.
If we keep that excuse we might as well blot healing out
of the Bible for we will not receive healing if we get what We
deserve. But the grace of God will reach down and heal you.
Only trust Him! Old things will pass away, and all things
will become new. Jesus is seeking to heal you.
76 Fools because of their iniquities are afflicted. Their souls abhorreth all
manner of meats: and they draw near unto the gates of death. Then they
cry unto the Lord in their trouble, and he saveth them out of their
distress. He sent His word AND HEALED THEM, and delivered them
from their destructions (Ps. 107:17-20).
