The University of Texas at Austin Austin Texas 78712 August 13, 2015 Her Excellency Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner President Argentine Republic Dear Madam President: We write to offer a word of congratulations on your appointment yesterday of Maria Delfina Rossi to be a Director of the Banco de la Nacion Argentina. Ms. Rossi became known to one of us James Galbraith as a member of the staff of the European Parliament in 2013. Impressed by her competence and good judgment, Galbraith encouraged her to seek a graduate degree at the LBJ School of Public Affairs of The University of Texas at Austin. During her first semester, in the fall of 2014, she was a student of Yanis Varoufakis, then a Visiting Professor at the University, and she made an equally positive impression on him. Both of us have seen Maria Delfina Rossi in action as a student, as a collaborator in the research activities of the University of Texas Inequality Project, and as a leader in numerous academic and policy discussions at the University of Texas. We know her to be intelligent, talented, hardworking and professional, and we are proud that you have seen fit to entrust her with a role of public trust and responsibility. With every high regard, (s/) James K. Galbraith Lloyd M. Bentsen Jr. Chair in Government/Business Relations (s/) Yanis Varoufakis Member of Parliament
