After the solemn
prayers, the celebrant
removes his cope, so
do also the ministers
their other vestments.
A large cross is used
covered with a violet
veil.
In this manner, it is
carried like in a
procession, with two
acolytes or servers
with candles.
The holy Cross is
uncovered first in the
upper part, with the
antiphon Behold the
wood of the Cross,
with the response,
Come let us adore
chanted by the choir.
After the chant has
been completed, all
kneel except the
celebrant and adore in

Intercessions, the
solemn Adoration
of the Holy Cross
takes place.
FIRST FORM:
The Deacon
accompanied by
ministers, or
another suitable
minister, goes to
the sacristy, from
which, in
procession,
accompanied by
two ministers with
lighted candles,
he carries the
Cross, covered
with a violet veil,
through the
church to the
middle of the
sanctuary.
The Priest,
standing before
the altar and
facing the people,
receives the
Cross, uncovers a
little of its upper
part and elevates
it while beginning
the Ecce lignum
The celebrant
alone first shall
genuflect in
adoration of the
Cross.
After he
reverences the
Cross, he takes on
the chasuble.
All shall genuflect
three times, with
the exception of
the Celebrant.
While the
adoration of the
Cross is ongoing,

the Crux Fidelis.
The Reproaches
are sung in two
parts but

chant We adore
your Cross and
Faithful Cross.

After the veneration of
the Cross has been
completed, the Cross
is carried back to the
altar by servers and
with lighted candles.
The Cross is placed in
the center of the altar,
so do the candles
placed on the altar.

After the adoration
has been
completed, the
Cross and the
candles remain
above the altar:
and the Deacon
takes the burse
withe the corporal,
and spreads it the
usual way. Also,
there must be a
purificator on the
side. Then the
Blessed Sacrament
is taken from the
tabernacle. The
Subdeacon with
the Cross is
accompanied by
two acolytes with
lighted candles.
The priest takes
the Body of Christ,
incenses it and the
Deacon shall

is sung.
There is a
deposition of
Chalice and Patens
by the Deacons, so
do they are silent
in carrying their
tasks.
And the oferings
are incensed,
saying:

fragrance go up to
you, Lord: and may
