Dear Ivan,
How are you and your family ? I hope everybody is well. Is it summertime in UK now ? The
weather here is quite hot too.
Last week, my family and I went for a holiday. We went to Langkawi. The island is part of
Kedah, a northen state in Malaysia. It is a beautiful island which is famous for its beaches and
tropical jungle. We traveled from Kuala Lumpur by train to Alor Setar. Then, we took a taxi to
Kuala Kedah and then a ferry to Langkawi.
In Langkawi, we stayed at Pelangi Beach Resort. The resort faces the beach. Every morning,
my sister and I would go to the beach with our parents to swim. On the first day, we went to Kuah.
We bought some batik, shell handicrafts and chocolates. Some of the things here are cheaper than
on mainland because they are duty-free. Next, we went to Mahsuri mausoleum. Mahsuri is a
legend in Langkawi.
On the second day, we went to Langkawi Crocodile Farm. I think we saw over a thousand
crocodiles there. We also saw some alligators. We learnt a lot about them. Next, we went to Air
Hangat village. We watched some Malaysian and Southeast Asian cultural shows and dances. We
also watched performances by trained elephants and a paddy planting demonstration. Later, we ate
some Malaysian, Thai and Indonesian food. They were delicious.
We stayed in Langkawi for three days and two nights. It was a wonderful trip. If you ever
come to Malaysia, be sure to visit Langkawi. That is all for now. Goodbye.
