POSSIBLE FESTIVAL TOUR EXTENSIONS
Music Celebrations International knows that many choirs singing in the festival will want to stay in Europe afterwards to
explore and experience some of the many musically and culturally significant towns and cities in the area. MCI is also able to
help balanced choirs perform in stand-alone concerts as part of the American Celebration of Music in Europe. Extensions may
take choirs into northern Italy, up the Romantic Road into Germany, across the Alps into Switzerland, or east to Vienna and
Prague & Budapest. Music Celebrations looks forward to tailoring a tour to each group’s specific wants & desires .

Mozart International
Choral Festival
Dear friends,

I am delighted to invite you to join me in an opportunity given to me by Music Celebrations

International to direct the second-annual Mozart International Choral Festival in the Historic
Salzburg Dom. What an honor to be directing this festival alongside the Dom's very own director of
music (the same position Mozart held), Professor Janos Czifra!

The festival will feature a combined choir of select SATB singers from every age group: high
school, college to adult accompanied by a wonderful professional Austrian orchestra. Imagine
singing in the very venue for which Mozart himself composed numerous works of sacred music for
the city of Salzburg!

A once in a lifetime experience for many of your singers, this festival can be the starting
point or the end of a longer European tour.

I look forward to seeing you in Austria and sharing in this experience together.

ALL ABOARD! BON VOYAGE!

My warmest regards,

eph ehly

Salzburger Dom
The Salzburg Cathedral – in German, the Salzburger Dom – is a 17th century baroque cathedral
dedicated to Saint Rupert of Salzburg.
The site occupied by the Salzburg Cathedral was probably a sacred
place for sacrifices in Celtic as well as Roman times. The first
cathedral was built under Saint Vergil of Salzburg, who might have
used foundations by St. Rupert. The first Dom was recorded in
774.

The finished church is 466 feet long and 109 feet high at the
crossing/dome. The baroque style of St. Rupert's can be seen in the
choir and the nave.
The Salzburg Cathedral was partially damaged during World War II when a single bomb crashed through
the central dome over the crossing. Repairs were somewhat slow to take place, but restoration was
complete by 1959.

Among the precious objects to be found in Salzburg's Cathedral are the baptismal font in which
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was baptized, the majestic main organ, surrounded by angels playing
instruments and crowned by Rupert and Virgil, as well as the magnificent Cathedral portals made by
Scheider-Manzell, Mataré and Manzú.

In his capacity as the court organist and

concert master, Mozart composed
numerous undying works of sacred music
for Salzburg.
