Save your work at regular intervals as you proceed.
1.

The international funding agencies have requested from the Ministry of Works
information on all projects completed during the period 2002 - 2005. The projects
completed are given in the spreadsheet file named PROJECTS located on your
diskette.

(a)

Retrieve the spreadsheet named PROJECTS to begin in cell Al.

(b)

Add a new column to the right with the heading TotaIP.

(c)

Insert a new row at the bottom of the spreadsheet with the text TotalYR in
column A.

(d)

In the appropriate cells, insert formulae or functions to compute the total cost of
Road projects for the four years and the total cost of projects for 2002.

(e)

Copy the formulae or functions in part (d) and complete the total cost of each of
the other projects for the four years and the total cost of projects per year for the
period 2003 - 2005.

(f)

Format the headings of all numeric columns to the right of the cell. ( 1 mark)

Format all numeric data to comma (,) format with 0 decimal place. ( 1 mark)

(h)

Save the spreadsheet as PROJECTS 1.

(i)

Insert a new column to the right with the heading GT%. Use the appropriate
formulae or functions to compute the Percentage of total cost for each type of
project. Use absolute addressing. Use the formula:
GT% = (Total for project type/Total cost).
Format the data in this column to percentages with 1 decimal place. ( 3 marks)

(j)

Move the spreadsheet to begin in cell A5.

In cells Al and A2 respectively, enter the title rows:

(o) Arrange the data in the spreadsheet so that the projects are arranged in descending
order by total cost.

(p) Filter the data for all projects whose total cost is more than 15% (GT%) of the total
cost of projects for the 4 years. Set up the criteria range and the extraction range in a
blank area of the spreadsheet.

(q) In a blank area of the spreadsheet, create a PIE chart to show the yearly total cost of
the projects. The PIE chart should have the title, PROJECTS: 2002 - 2005. Each slice
of the pie should be properly labeled to indicate which year it represents or a legend
should be provided. Each slice of the pie should indicate the percentage of total cost of
projects. Save the spreadsheet as PROJECTS2.

Database Management

In order to keep track of projects, the Ministry of Works has created a database
named WORKS. The WORKS database has two tables, namely FUNDING and
EXECUTION.
(a) Retrieve the database named WORKS from your diskette.
(b) In the FUNDING table, insert a new field with the name Ftype to indicate
whether the project is funded by a loan or a grant.
(1 mark)
(c) Create a basic Data Entry Form from the FUNDING table. The title of the
form should be Funding Form and should include all four fields in the
FUNDING table.

(d) Use the Funding Form to input data in the appropriate field to indicate that the
organizations IDB and UNF provided loans while CDB and DFID provided
grants.

-3(e) The Contractor for the project with code GL-02 is BT and not CB. Make the
necessary changes to the appropriate record in the EXECUTION table to reflect this.

(f) Sort the records in the EXECUTION table such that they are in descending order by
Cost and the records of the FUNDING table such that they are in ascending order by
Project.

(g) Using the EXECUTION table, create a calculated field named CFEE. The value in
CFEE is 10% of the value in the Cost field. Display the Code, Cost and CFEE fields.
Save the query as CFEEQRY.

(h) It has been decided to increase the duration of each project by 3. Perform a query to
increase the duration of all the projects. Save the query as DURQRY. ( 2 marks)
(i) Use a query to find the projects funded from grants. Your query should display the
Project, Cost, Ftype and Location fields. It should be sorted on the Cost field in
ascending order. Save the query GRANTQRY.

(j) Use a query to find the projects done by Contractor BT. Your query should display the
Project, Cost, Contractor and Durations fields. Save the query as BTQRY. (3 marks)
(k) Use queries to find the following:
(i) The number of projects. Save the query as PQRY.

as PROJRPT.

WORDPROCESSING
3. As the Senior Computer Technician of an organization, you have been asked to write
about computer matters in the organizations monthly newsletter. You have decided to
write about two topics which you think all staff members need to know about. The
contents of your article are included in two files named SPYWARE and VIRUS located
on your diskette.
(a)

Retrieve the file named SPYWARE located on your diskette.

(b)

Replace the numbering 1, 2 and 3 with bullets in the first paragraph under the
heading SPYWARE.
(1 mark)

(c)

In the second paragraph, place the information under the heading Anti-Spyware
Programs: in a table. Use the appropriate number of columns and rows for your
table. Center the table and Bold and Italicize the column headings. Change the
case for the names of anti-spyware programs to uppercase.

(d)

Insert the file named VIRUS located uas a new paragraph of your
document. Save the combined documents as BUGS.

(e)

For the entire document, set the left and right margins to be 0.75 and the top and
bottom margins to be 0.5.

Set the paper size to be 8.5 x 11 with landscape orientation.

(g)

Insert the title COMPUTER BUGS two lines above the content of the
document. Format the title such that it is at the centre and has Courier font of size
25.

Indent the heading for each paragraph.

Place the text in the document BUGS in two newspaper columns such that the
content of the file SPYWARE is in column 1 and the remaining text is in column
2. The title of the document should not be affected.

indicated in PRILET. Save the file as PRILET1.
