ROLLOUT IN SAP

A roll out in simple terms is nothing but a reuse of the existing implementation process in the new location and change the settings according
to the location of the implementation

A roll-out (RO) project differs from a full life cycle (FLC) project in the following ways:

* In FLC project customer requirement and industry requirements are analyzed from the scratch, PRD server has only standard configuration
when newly installed, etc.

* In RO project, it is an extension of existing FLC project, where most of the customization has already been done, global or regional policies
of parent company are applied, only local legal or financial reporting requirements are considered.

Advantages of RO project:
* Usually a FLC project is done at Head Quarters of parent company or at a subsidiary where most of the scenarios are covered, a tier-one
consulting company is involved in detail requirements, and organization strategic management decides strategic level requirements as well
as processes of new system.
* Consultants involved in RO project learn superior customization in base system, the practices of head quarter, enterprise wide controls, and
specialized features.
* Practices and strategies to gain competitive advantage is embodied in initial system configuration and Technology is more utilized to fit for
business purpose.
* Definite timeline and results in roll out.
* Unnecessary requirements and processes are avoided.

Disadvantages
*Consultants rarely find opportunity to apply different configuration settings and interacting with basic and detailed requirement of
customers/users directly.

EXAMPLE
1.Lets assumed there are company codes like 1100,1200,1300,1400.
1. New Company codes & Plants will be created for this project. Say for E.g. Company Code 1500 & plant

1501 is created.
2. All the settings will be copied from an existing Plant to the newly created Plant. Say for Eg, 1401 plant
already exists and now from 1401 all the settings will be copied to the new plant 1501.
3. So all the relevant module settings say for E.g.: PP, MM, SD configuration settings will be copied to this
new plant also.
4. Say for E.g.: In PP if there's an order Type TT01 which was for plant 1401, the same can be found also
for plant 1501 after copying.
5. The irrelevant settings say For Eg,if an order type say SS01 which was for Re-work which was used
in Plant 1401 and if its not applicable for plant 1501,then the same has to be edited or deleted.
6. New Storage Locations for the plant 1501, MRP controllers are to be created and transported.
7. All the Business Processes for the existing plant 1401 in PP Module, say starting from material
creation, BOM, Work Centers, Routing, Demand Management, MRP, Production confirmation, settlement
will be checked, as per the Business processes.
8. So like this, individual Module members will be testing the Business processes and then Integration
testing followed by Cut-Over activities..Go-Live.
