The Organization of American States (OAS), through the Department of Human Development and
Education (DHDE) and Kookmin University (KMU), through the OAS Partnerships Program for
EducationandTraining (PAEC),areofferingscholarshipstoqualified candidatesof theAmericasto
participate in a 7 week Entrepreneurship Boot Camp. The main goal of the Program is to help
participantsdevelopabusinessideainordertocreateacompany.

ABOUTKOOKMINUNIVERSITYANDTHEOAS
TheGeneralSecretariatoftheOrganizationofAmericanStates
GS/OASisthecentralandpermanentorganoftheOrganizationofAmericanStates(OAS).Throughits
Department of Human Development and Education (DHDE), GS/OAS supports OAS member states in
creatingpoliciesandexecutingprogramsthatpromotehumancapacitydevelopmentatalleducational
levels.Byenablingformativeopportunitiestocitizens,DHDEstrengthensdemocraticvaluesandsecurity
under the framework of regional integration. DHDE does this: (i) by supporting the efforts of OAS
memberstatestoimprovethequalityofandequityineducation;and(ii)byassistingthecitizensofthe
Americasinrealizingtheirfullpotentialbygivingthemaccesstoknowledgeandskillsthroughtraining
thatimprovesthestandardoflivingforindividuals,familiesandcommunitiesintheregion.
KookminUniversity
Kookmin University, the first private university after Koreas independence and one of the leading
privateuniversitiesinthecountry,isdeeplyrootedinfourfoundingprinciples:humanism,nationalism,
culturalism, and industrialism. Kookmin University has grown into a fixture of the academia of Korea
with23,000studentsenrolled,withatotalof15variouscollegesand15postgraduateschools.

I.GENERALPROVISIONS.
1. Applicantsprofile: Undergraduateorgraduatestudents,and/orrecentgraduatesfromany
discipline with excellent verbal skills in English from diverse parts of the Americas. Given the
averageageofparticipantsoftheKookminGlobalEntrepreneurshipBootCamp,applicantsage
limitis29yearsold.Applicantsmustalsobeliterateininformationtechnologies.

II.SCHOLARSHIPBENEFITS
1. Benefits:
1.1 Four (4) full scholarships covering 100% tuition, accommodation, meals, camp expenses,
books and study/other materials, health insurance, air ticket, and, if students desire to
remain an extra week after finishing the program as a period for further development of
theirproductsorforsightseeing,thebenefitswillremainforthatremainingtime.
1.2 Four(4)generalscholarshipscovering100%tuition,accommodation,meals,campexpenses,
books and study/other materials, health insurance, if students desire to remain an extra
weekafterfinishingtheprogramasaperiodforfurtherdevelopmentoftheirproductsorfor
sightseeing, the benefits will remain for that remaining time. (Note: these scholarships do
notincludeairplanetickets).
1.3 If the participants entrepreneurial ideas are successful and they are able to register their
owncompaniesinSouthKorea,theywillreceiveanadditionalUSD$5,000seedfundfortheir
project.
1.4 CertificationofcompletionoftheProgram.
2. FinancialResponsibilitiesofAwardees:
2.1 For full scholarships, awardees will be responsible for their visa and immigration fees (if
applicable),personalexpenses,andanyothercostsnotcoveredbythescholarship.Forgeneral
scholarships, in addition to the previous responsibilities, students will also be responsible for
coveringtheirairplaneticket.
2.2 Theseaboveexpensesshallbethesoleandexclusiveresponsibilityofthescholarshiprecipients.
3. ScholarshipEligibilityRequirements:
3.1 Becitizensand/orpermanentlegalresidentsofanyOASmemberstate.
3.2Participantsmaybecurrentundergraduateorgraduatestudentsofaccreditedorformallyapproved
higherinstitutionsfromOASMemberStates,fromanyfieldofstudy.Theycanalsoberecentgraduates
fromanyofthesehighereducationlevels.
3.3 Given the average age of participants in the Kookmin Global Entrepreneurship Boot Camp,
applicantsagelimitis29yearsold.
3.4 Applicants must be literate in information technologies. They must prove they possess at least a
minimumknowledgeandabilitytoutilizecomputersefficiently(e.g.:usingawordprocessor,computer
applications, worksheets, web tools, social media, etc.) through a recommendation letter from a
professor.
3.5ApplicantsmustpossessanexcellentlevelofverbalEnglishskills.Thismustbeproventhroughan
officialwrittendocumentsuchasatranscriptverifyingcompletionofstudiesinanEnglishspeaking
university,aTOEFLorIELTSscoreorasimilarstandardizedtestscore,notolderthantwoyears.
3.6OASstaff,individualswhomaintainemploymentcontractswiththeOAS,thestaffofPermanent
MissionstotheOASandtheirimmediaterelativesarenoteligibletoreceiveOASKGEBscholarships.
3.7 No type of employment or commercial relationship shall be established between the OAS or
KMU and the OASKGEB scholarship recipients. Similarly, the OAS and KMU shall not assume any
typeofliability,whethercivil,contractualornoncontractual,duringtheentirescholarshipperiod.
4. ScholarshipApplicationProcess:
STEP1 GatherthefollowingdocumentstobeincludedwiththecompletedOASKGEBscholarshipapplication
form,inthefollowingorder:
1. Copyofgovernmentissuedidentificationdocument;
2. CurriculumVitaeorResume,withoutattachments(e.g.:certificatesordiplomas);
3. Twolettersofrecommendation:One,fromauniversityprofessor,must certifytheapplicants
competency in the use of information technologies. The other, from a professor or employer,
must describe the applicants skills, accomplishments, and personality with regards to
entrepreneurship.Thelettershouldatleastinclude:contactinformationandsignaturefromthe
professor(ifhe/shenolongerworksatthesameuniversity,itmustclarifythesituationinwhich
he/sheinteractedwiththeapplicant)anddate.
4. Copyoftheacademicrecordortranscriptofcurrentorfinishedstudyprogram,includingdetails
ongradesandcourses.
5. Englishproficiencysupportdocument.

The OAS requires that scholarships recipients return to their country of citizenship or legal
residency upon completion of the Program. Please explain how you intend to apply the
acquiredknowledgeandexperiencetothedevelopmentofyourcountryorregion.
CompleteandsendtheOASKGEBApplicationForm,alongwithalltheaboveindicateddocuments
(includingtheessays),attachedinonesinglePDFfile.Theformisavailableonlinehere:link.Please

becontactedviaemailwiththeirofficialscholarshipofferandfurtherinstructionsonnextsteps.

Awardeesprepareforthebeginningoftheprogramincludingfollowinganyadditionalregistration
steps,travels,etc.
5. ScholarshipSelectionCriteria
Meritsandoverallcredentialsofthecandidate,includinghis/heracademicandprofessional
background;
Geographicaldistributionoftheapplicants,takingintoaccountthegreaterneedsofMember
States,accordingtotheirHumanDevelopmentIndex;
Applicantswhoseproposalsportraythehighestpotentialforimpactuponreturntotheir
countriesoforigin;and
Genderdiversity.
6. DutiesandResponsibilitiesoftheAwardees:
6.1 The scholarship will be officially awarded only after selected awardees have signed the
OAS/KGEBAcceptanceForm,inwhichtheyformallyacceptthescholarshipofferandagreetoits
termsandconditions.Thisformisequivalenttoascholarshipcontract.
6.2 AwardeesmustrefrainfromactivitiesthatareinconsistentwiththestatusofanOASscholarship
recipient,abidingbytheregulationsstatedinthisAcceptanceForm.
6.3 MeetallacademicguidelinesandrequirementsforpermanencerequestedbyKMU.
6.4 ComplywiththeprovisionsmentionedaboveunderFinancialResponsibilityofAwardees.
6.5 Thescholarshipcouldbedeclinedbytheawardeeoneweekaftertheofficialannouncementof
theresultswithoutanyfinancialpenalty.However,iftheawardeedeclinesafterJune29th,2015,
theOASandKMUreservetheirrighttorequestfullorpartialreimbursementofthefundsspent
ontheawardeeuntilthedayofhisorherdeclination.
6.6 Ifrequired,awardeesshouldmakeallnecessaryarrangementstoobtainaC3visaforthetime
thattheprogramwillbeheldinSouthKorea.KMUwillprovidefurtherassistanceinthisregard.
