Technology is changing the way security systems

are monitored and the Solution to line failure is SAFECOM
If

you are using a dialler based system, the monitoring centre has no
way of telling whether your phone line (which your security system uses
to transmit alarm messages) has been compromised.

EDM & Safecom together...

T he EDM Solution SC8016 security system provides sophisticated

Do you know the real cost of your current monitoring system?

I f you have a commercial system with say four partitions, your dialler system may make more than
40 calls per week to the monitoring centre at local call rates. If your system has multiple open and
close reports per day, the costs are even higher. With Safecom, all call costs are eliminated as all
reports are sent by wireless. No matter how many calls per day, there are no call charges.

electronic surveillance for your home or business. Incorporating the very

latest in wireless communications SAFECOM, provides a high speed packet
telemetry signalling via a UHF data radio. Together, both systems provide
superior reliability and performance in alarm systems. Where other
systems rely solely on the telephone to transmit signals to the alarm
centre, SC8016 uses wireless telemetry signalling ensuring a
continuous monitoring of your system all the time.

How fast is Safecom compared to a

dialer based system?

What happens if my phone line get

cut?

All messages such as open and close reports,

system status events and alarm messages are
transmitted from your site to the monitoring
centre in less than a quarter of a second. Like
we said, high speed signalling. Diallers may
take 30 seconds or more, depending on the
system used. Safecom is almost
instantaneous.

The Safecom system even supervises your

phone line and will alert the monitoring system
if your phone line is cut. If your wireless system
fails, we report wireless failure via the phone
line. In any case, as your system is supervised,
your monitoring centre will know if either path
has failed as your system is constantly
supervised.

Double the supervision

Howmuch does Safecom cost

compared to other supervised
systems?

Safecom is so intelligent, your system listens

into communications with other Safecom
systems in your area. If your system stops
hearing Safecom air traffic to other systems,
it will use the phone line to warn the monitoring
centre that there is a problem. This effectively
gives you constant supervision, irrespective of
the poll rate set for your system. Even if your
system was only polled once a day, your system
is constantly verifying its communication paths,
both via the phone line and the wireless path.
Thats real security!

Safecom will cost a little more than a

conventional dialler system and the monitoring
fee will naturally be a little more than a dialler
system, however, when you factor in the
reduction in call charges you will probably be
saving money. At the same time, you will have
a more secure system.

What other benefits does Safecom Provide?

Safecom provides a dual redundant path for
communications. Not only does it prove a supervised
communications path, it can also provide a dual
redundant path for emergencies. With Safecom, your
primary communications link to your monitoring centre is
wireless, however, we can still connect your system to the
phone lines as a back-up communications path. If one
system is compromised, you have two communication
paths to your monitoring centre. This is called dual
redundancy.

Sophisticated two-way communications

The Solution SC8016 provides sophisticated, two-way,
dual path reporting and high supervision functions to
your security system. It helps to overcome
attempts by sophisticated criminals to compromise
your system. Your authorized dealer will be
happy to provide more information on the
extraordinary features of Solution 16 system.
