Holsters for the Ruger LCRX 3

While the Ruger LCR and LCRX 2 models were both successful revolver series, Ruger continued to
receive consumer feedback asking for additional options in the LCRX line. So, in late 2014, Ruger
introduced an LCRX version with a 3 barrel, known as the Ruger model 5431. This version was built on
the standard LCRX frame but mated a longer 3 barrel to the frame and introduced adjustable sights.

Currently the model 5431 is only available in a .38 Special caliber, with the standard 5 shot LCRX
cylinder. Even though the longer barrel added a slight amount of weight, the 3 model still weighs less
than 16 ounces unloaded.

Here are some commonly asked questions that weve seen regarding holsters for the LCRX 3:
#1 I have an LCR and the new LCRX 3. Will a holster for the LCR fit the LCRX 3?
Yes, no, and maybe. Technically, any open bottom holster made for the LCR would also fit the LCRX 2 or
3 model. For the most part, they are the same dimensionally. However, any closed bottom or semiclosed bottom holster for the LCR (which has a 2 barrel) most likely wouldnt fit the LCRX with the
longer 3 barrel. In addition, the LCRX has an exposed hammer, while the LCR features an internal
hammer. This means that any holster with a thumb break or retention strap made for the LCR would not
fit the hammer portion of the LCRX.

#2 Rumor has that many holster makers used the S&W series of revolvers as a basis to cross fit over
into other non-S&W revolvers. Given that, which one of the S&W revolvers would work as a cross fit
for the LCRX 3"?
Based on our experiences with the LCRX 3, none of the existing S&W revolver frames will cross fit over
into the LCRX series.
#3 I know one of the holster lines Gunners Alley carries is Don Hume, and I really wanted a Don
Hume holster for my new Ruger LCRX 3. However, I dont see any Don Hume holsters on your site
listed for the LCRX 3 model?
At this time of this writing (8/15/15), Don Hume isnt officially making anything to fit the LCRX 3 model.
However, there are certain Don Hume models that the LCRX (regardless of the barrel length) will fit.
Those models are the JIT Slide and the H710. Although the LCRX isnt listed as an official fit and wouldnt
be listed on the holster label, the model made for the LCR would also fit the LCRX in 2 or 3.
#3 - Do you have anything that is made specifically for the LCRX 3 model?
