BE A LIVELY CHRISTIAN
A man once told a pastor that he wanted to become a member of the
church. But, he said, Im very busy, so dont ask me to join a
committee, teach a class or sing in the choir. Spare me from anything
that would take up my time, and dont be surprised if Im not in worship
very often.
The pastor thought for a moment, and then replied, I believe youre
at the wrong church. The church youre looking for is 10 blocks down
the street.
The man followed the pastors directions and soon came to an
abandoned, boarded-up church building. It was a dead churchout of
business.
May each of us always be alive to the ministry of the Lords church.
Remember that lively Christians make churches that are alive.

LADIES MNISTRY BIBLE STUDY

AN UNEXPECTED RESULT
Theres a story about a
womens circle at a United
Methodist Church that collected
clothes for a widow and her three
young daughters. The mother
said they needed clothes so they
could dress nicely to attend
worship services.
The womens group collected
the clothes and gave them to the
family. But on the next Sunday,
the mother and girls didnt show
up at the church. One of the circle
members went to the familys
home to find out why they hadnt
come.
The mother said that she was
very thankful for the pretty
clothes. In fact, she said, When
we put them on we looked so
good, we decided to go to the
Presbyterian church.

Pastor Jonathons Word of The Week

WE NEED TO LEARN

Christians are called upon to love God with their

minds. Therefore, as greatly important as worship
is, we have a responsibility to also spend time in
learning. We must be informed persons who can
articulate our faith and beliefs. If we are not, how
can we properly train our children in the way they
should grow (Proverbs 22: 6)? First Peter 3: 15
(NRSV) reads: Always be ready to make your
defense to anyone who demands from you an
accounting for the hope that is in you.
