Choose 3 of the IB Learner Profile words and write what you think they mean.
Risk Taker: Risk takers are people who constantly challenge their own abilities by
doing activities which maybe they dont feel so comfortable with, but which interest
them. For instance, maybe you arent sure that a specific fundraising activity will
work well, but you do it anyway just to try.
Balanced: People who dont only do one type of activity, but instead do a variety of
activities to develop different skills and perspectives. For instance, people who not
only excel at academics, but also do sports, service, or play an instrument.
Principled: People who act under their own values and beliefs no matter what other
people tell them. This means that you think about what is right and you stick to it.

Thinking about yourself in general, list some of your strengths and areas for growth.
What are you good at? What are you not so good at?
Im good at playing guitar and at maths, Im also very good at organizing my time. I
am perseverant and put a huge effort into everything I do.
Im not so good at working in groups or at working with computers. Also, I lack
enthusiasm when it comes to doing service.

How might you show perseverance and commitment during your CAS programme?
By taking leadership roles and motivating other people in the group to do the same.
Also by contributing positively to the group constantly and continuing to do it even
if it is really difficult or if at first it doesnt give you the results you expected.

What issues of global importance do you think you might encounter during your CAS
programme?
I think I may find poverty and social segregation when visiting schools or
foundations. Also, deforestation and environment destruction when doing
environmental projects. Also, I may find animal abuse or maltreatment when going
to places like PAE.

What is an ethical implication of an action?

The ethical implications of an action are the moral consequences of it. For instance,
if you are making a campaign against deforestation, it would be unethical to use
paper posters to promote this campaign. In other words, ethical implications are
consequences which have to do with values and principles.

Discussing with students/ teachers who are aware of the CAS programme at BSQ;
what activities do you think you might be interested in being involved in during your
course?
Personally, I would really enjoy to be a part of the PAE group because the well-being
of dogs and animals in general is very important to me and it would really motivate
me to be help this foundation with whatever they need.

Are there any new activities or projects you would like to start as part of your CAS
programme? If so, what are they?
I would like to set up a giant dog food container somewhere in the school so that
people can make their donations there. The container should be see-through and
have measures so that people can see how much food we have collected and aim to
fill it all up.
Also, given the fact we are the PAE group, we could arrange for a pet day, were
everybody brings their pet by paying a certain amount of money, and children are
also encouraged to adopt. On this day, there could also be a dog obstacles
competition and a prize for the fastest or most obedient dog.
Finally, we could make animal-themed jean days and bake sales, as well as contests
for who knows more about different dog species or animals in general.

What new challenges do you think you might encounter during your CAS
programme?
One of the main challenges I think I will encounter is trying to organize the smaller
kids so that they all collaborate and are well motivated to help our cause. In
previous years, Ive noticed that smaller kids never pay much attention or do any of
the work they are asked to do, and it will be difficult for me to try and make them
feel compromised towards our cause and therefore make them contribute positively.
Also, it will be challenging to arrange the visits to the place and to sort out the funds
we collect in order to buy things, because I have never done anything similar or
have had to take a leadership role for such an important cause.

What new skills might you gain during your CAS programme?
The CAS programme will definitely help me to improve my time management and
organisation skills because it requires a lot of hours and commitment. Also, it will
develop my leadership, communication, collaborative and reflective skills, as well as

giving me another perspective of things. Furthermore, my creativity hours will
develop my ability to play the guitar, and my action hours will give me a better
physical performance.

What does collaboratively mean?

Collaboratively means that you do something by working in a group and that
everybody contributes positively and equally to the cause by listening to others and
also by putting forward their own ideas and perspectives of the situation.

What are some skills that allow a person to work collaboratively with others?
In order to be able to work collaboratively with others you must be a good
communicator and listener, and be open-minded. Also, in some cases, you might
even have to be take leadership roles, as well as being caring and reflective.

Write two more learning outcomes in the table. Two goals that you would like to
achieve during the course of your diploma.

What life skills do you want to take with you after you complete your diploma
course?
By the end of the diploma course, I would like to have organisation skills, leadership
skills, decision-making skills and collaborative skills. Also, I would like to be
reflective, open-minded and knowledgeable. Most of all, I would like to be aware of
the issues in our society and be able to help solve them.
