2010 Scholarship
The FHCSF Scholarship Program offers scholarships annually to deserving students who have
committed to continuing their education beyond high school in a full-time undergraduate
program. FHCSF Scholarships are merit-based and may be used for any college-related
expenses (including tuition, room & board, books, lab fees, etc…).
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
1. Possess a valid US military family member identification card.
2. The applicant must be the family member of an Active duty, active Reserve, or active National
Guard service member assigned to the Fort Hamilton area or the family member of a retired or
deceased military service member.
3. Be a high school senior, home-schooled equivalent, or currently enrolled in a college or university.
For the purposes of eligibility determination, the "Fort Hamilton area" is defined as New York City and the counties
of Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester, Rockland, and Putnam in New York and the counties of Bergen, Hudson, Passaic,
Essex, Union, Middlesex, Monmouth, Sussex, Morris, Hunterdon, Ocean, Mercer, and Somerset in New Jersey.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must submit the following by the postmark deadline of, 30 April 2010, in order to
be considered qualified for an award:
A completed application (pages 1-5).
Official transcript(s) from the Applicant’s high school(s) or state-certified grades, and
Official college transcripts if applicable.
Copies of SAT and/or ACT score if graduating high school senior.
A one page essay on the selected topic as indicated on the application.
A photocopy of both sides of the applicant’s military ID card (black out SSN).
A copy of sponsor’s official orders. If sponsor is active Guard or active Reserve a copy of
orders showing federal activation (title 10) for entire academic year August 1, 2010 to May 1,
2011.
COMPLETED APPLICATIONS MUST BE MAILED AND POSTMARKED

SELECTION PROCESS:
1. Only completed applications submitted in accordance with the guidance provided will be
forwarded to the selection committee for review.
2. All applications will be acknowledged by email upon receipt. However, applications will
not be reviewed for completeness until after the application deadline.
4. An independent selection committee will review and evaluate all applications. Applicant
identity will be concealed from the selection committee during the selection process.
Children of FHCSF Scholarship Committee members are not eligible to receive
scholarships.
7. Upon proof of enrollment, the FHCSF Treasurer will send a check directly to the
academic institution. Scholarship money will be available for use in the Fall 2010 Term.
8. Any scholarships that are declined or unclaimed shall remain in the FHCSF treasury.
