1.3 Take off screws in bottom side of Packing case (see below image, in red boxes, two sides of case)
1.7 Use forklift to rise the hardness tester with baseboard. (It is used to see clearly screws in the bottom
side of base board)
1.8 In the bottom side of base board, you can touch there is screw (see below image in red box), take off
it by wrench.
1.9 In the back side of hardness tester, there is also a screw, you can touch it (in red box below image),
take off it by wrench.
2. Installation
2.1 If you ned to test higher specimen, please make sure there is a hole on the table (diameter 90mm)
2.4 Loosen then move out cotton strip, white foam, rubber band and small red cloth. See below image:
2.6 Move out cotton strip and take off weights hook, used to install weights.
2.7 Install weights, see below image, there are total 6 weights, from up to low: 0,1,2,3,4,5.

2.9.1Loosen screw by allen wrench, and screw on the tube, see below images
3.2 Standard hardness block value is 749HV30, means test force is 30KGF and get value at 749HV, so we
have to change force knob to 31.25, then move out weights 0.
3.4 Inspect objective is horizontal or not, lift up tale to near objective, it is convenient to observe
objective, if not horizontal, then adjust it follow below images
3.5 Loosen below screw, then slightly rotate microscope until it horizontal with table.
3.6 After confirm mentioned steps, like indenter, force, hardness block, then start testing. First aim long
index to 0 position, lift up table, once indenter contacts hardness block, then rotate long index 3 circles,
then press START.
3.7 After hear beee, then move test table to objective for observation and measuring, and prepare
hardness table for hardness checking.
3.8 Example: by means of 5X Objective, test force 294.2N(30Kg), measure out the Vickers hardness value
L=In
LThe diagonal length of indentation (mm)
nNumber of grids of testing indention
IMin. graduation value of eyepiece drum wheel, when use 5X Objective
I=0.002mm
Therefore, L=0.002*(400 221) =0.358, check vickers hardness table, the value is 434HV30.
3.9 Below we can see how to check hardness value from table.
4.5 When long index contacts hardness block, then rotate 3 circle, then press START
4.6 Move test table to objective and prepare brinell hardness table
4.8 According to our hardness block, the test result from table is:
5.4 When test HRC, use diamond indenter, and change force to (150/1471), find out HRC hardness block
5.5 Aim long index to 0 position, then Lift up test anvil until indenter contact test block, then rotate 3
circles of long index, then press START, until hear beee, then read hardness value in dial, black reading is
HRC, neglect first result.
6. Test HRB
6.1 Change force knob to 100kg, then install diameter 1.588mm steel ball indenter and find HRB block.
6.2 Aim long index to 0 position, then Lift up test anvil until indenter contact test block, then rotate 3
circles of long index, then press START, until hear beee, then read hardness value in dial, red reading is
HRB. Neglect first result.
