PROCEEDINGS OF THE COUNTY BOARD OF EQUALIZATION

June 15, 2015


The County Board of Jackson County met as the County Board of Equalization in the
Courthouse in the City of Jackson on June 15, 2015. The following members were
present: David Henkels, Kim Hummel, Don Wachal, Rose Schultz, William Tusa and
County Auditor/Treasurer Kevin Nordquist.
Staff present: Jason McCaslin, County Assessor; Maria Kay, Appraiser; Sandy Rettig,
Appraiser; Robert Stewart, Appraiser; Lisa Will, Deputy Assessor, and Janice Fransen,
County Coordinator.
Chair David Henkels called the County Board of Equalization to order.
Motion was made by Commissioner Tusa and seconded by Commissioner Wachal to
adopt the agenda. Motion carried unanimously.
The Board of Equalization was sworn in by Deputy Clerk of Court, Teri Reetz.
Assessor Jason McCaslin gave an overview of the 2015 Assessment.
Parcel R23.023.0500; R.E. Schenk III, owner. Assessor recommends no reduction in
value as owner denied staff access to the property. Motion was made by Commissioner
Henkels and seconded by Auditor/Treasurer Nordquist to adopt Resolution 15-190
denying Mr. Schenks request to adjust the value. Motion carried unanimously.
Parcel R17.032.0200 and R17.032.0100; Arnold Meyer, owner. Assessor recommends
reducing value from $349,700 to $344,300 for a total reduction of $5,400 on parcel
R17.032.0200; and reducing value from $1,561,300 to $1,559,200 for a total reduction of
$2,100 on parcel R17.032.0100. Motion was made by Commissioner Hummel and
seconded by Commissioner Tusa to adopt Resolution 15-191 accepting the County
Assessors recommendation for adjustments. Motion carried unanimously.
Parcel R08.005.0700; Jeremy Daberkow, owner, by the County Assessor. Assessor
recommends reducing value from $459,600 to $428,300 for a total reduction of $31,300.
Motion was made by Commissioner Henkels and seconded by Commissioner
Schultz to adopt Resolution 15-192 accepting the County Assessors recommendation for
adjustments. Motion carried unanimously.
Parcel R03.015.0400; Martha Soehren, owner, by the County Assessor. Assessor
recommends reducing value from $1,085,700 to $1,054,800 for a total reduction of
$30,900. Motion was made by Auditor/Treasurer Nordquist and seconded by
Commissioner Hummel to adopt Resolution 15-193 accepting the County Assessors
recommendation for adjustments. Motion carried unanimously.

Parcel R03.005.0700; Ronald and Olive Kruse, owners, by the County Assessor.
Assessor recommends reducing value from $310,600 to $260,600 for a total reduction of
$50,000 due to changing from an active gravel pit to an inactive gravel pit. Motion was
made by Commissioner Henkels and seconded by Commissioner Wachal to adopt
Resolution 15-194 accepting the County Assessors recommendation for adjustments.
Motion carried unanimously.
Motion was made by Commissioner Tusa and seconded by Commissioner Hummel
to adjourn. Motion carried unanimously.
