KEY ATTRACTIONS
Kaohsiung City
Kaohsiung, situated on the southwestern coast of
Taiwan, is the second largest city in Taiwan and
is also commonly known as "Gandu", meaning
harbor city. Oceans have supported the life and the
development of this city. Kaohsiung Port is not only
the biggest port in Taiwan, but it also ranked as one
of the leading ports in freight volumes in the world.
Qijin
Qijin is a long island located outside the Kaohsiung
Port and it is the main route for boats departing or
arriving Kaohsiung City. With the ocean on all four
sides, Qijin is a natural haven for seafood, with
plenty of restaurants serving up fresh-from-the-sea
cuisine.
Tainan City
Tainan, the cultural place of origin, was Taiwans
political and military center from 1624 to 1885. It
has been a gateway to Taiwan since the Dutch
colonial period, and was flourished through the
Zhengs regime and the Qing dynasty. Tainan
is known for its history, temples, traditional
lifestyles and traditional snack food. There are
over 500 Buddhist and Taoist temples within city
limits, and many of these are among the oldest
and most important in the country.
