After the Suryavanshi Kingdom declined, the surviving people from this dynasty migrated to various places. Vijayasurtha
(Prasanajit) & his family migrated to Saurashtra (present day in Gujarat). He became a rich trader. He earned a big house &
manyworkers,bodyguards&horses.Hewouldsailtovariouscitiesandsellhisproducts.Onedayhesailedfarawayanddue
totheheavywaveshereachedanunknownisland.Theislandwasbig,coveredwithforest&barrenland.Hehadanideaand
with the help of his workers he built a fortress around the island and divided it into 2 different cities. He built many houses &
roads.Heconvertedtheislandintobeautifulislands.HesettledinthatislandwithhisfamilyandnameditasGajapuri(because
oflargenumberofelephants).HewaschosenasthekingofGajapuriandpeoplestartedtoliveinthatisland.
Prasanajitwassuccededbyhisandsonandheappointedhissecondson,Surathiasthekingafterwhichhepassedaway.The
eldestson,Marasjitbecameannoyedofhimashisfatherdidntchoosehimandchosehisyoungerbrother.Surathi conquered
manynearbyislandslikeSansadvipa,Shatadvipa,ShridvipaandNamadvipa.Marasjitmadeaplanhecalledthechiefofnavy
andbribedhimtosayalie.ThechiefofnavyliedSurathithatthekingdomofPrajnethiisgoingtoattackGajapuri.
Surathiandsomeofthesoldierswenttotheseatomakepeace,butonthewaySurathiwaskilled
byhisownMinister.EveryoneinthearmysupportedMarasjit.SoSurathiswifewithhersmallchild
and her relations sailed back to India. They settled in Vadhachira. Many centuries passed and
medieval period started. Many foreign invaders started to attack India. The invaders made many
kingdoms.Therewereforeignpeople,sotheytorturedthepeopleandimposedJaziyataxonthem.
Suryavanshi people were now aware of the conditions passing. So they left Bhaironpur (Ancient
Vadhachira) and entered the Vijayanagar Empire of the south. They became merchants and army
officers in the Vijayanagar Empire. They came to be known as Ravivanshi (Ravi means Sun in
Kannadalanguage).TheyadoptedthecultureofKarnataka.
