Revised Test and Homework Policy
First semester, some of the course policies and procedures did not seem the most effective for
producing student learning. As a result, we will be revising some of the course policies as
regards homework, in-class activities, quizzes, and exams. There will still be one five-paragraph
essay (3rd quarter) and the Oral History Project (4th quarter) this semester.

Exams: There will be two major exams during the second semester – a midterm and a final. The
midterm will cover material from the third quarter. The final will cover material from the fourth
quarter. In addition, there will be two mini-tests at the mid-point of each quarter.

Homework and Quizzes: The reading schedule for the second semester is on the reverse of
this document. Students should take notes in one of the prescribed formats. All notes should be
handwritten, neat, and clearly labeled. Any unlabeled or non-correctly formatted notes will not
receive credit. At the end of each week, I will stamp notes. No reading schedule means you do
not receive a stamp – no exceptions. There will be no late stamps and no credit for late notes.
Be organized, be on time, and be prepared!

If at any time it appears that some students are not completing their notes, I reserve the right to
give a pop quiz.

Students should keep a log sheet for all in-class activities. Activities not recorded in the
students’ log sheet and not clearly labeled will not receive credit. If a student is absent, he or
she should check the sheet at the front of the room for missed notebook activities.

Notebooks will be collected four times during the semester. Collection dates are: Feb. 25 (A)
and 26 (C, G); Mar. 25 (A) and 26 (C, G); April 29 (A) and 30 (C, G); and June 9 (all periods).
Students will be expected to turn in their stamp sheet, activity log, and in-class activities.
