Introduction…..

SAEINDIA Collegiate Club is a prestigious association for the students,

developed by Society of Automotive Engineers, India (SAEINDIA), and a
part of Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) a worldwide organization
especially for Automobiles and Allied branches of Engineering.

It started in September end 2009 when few students from 3rd & 2nd year
of Mechanical Engineering branch came together and initiated the
formation of the SAEINDIA Collegiate club for D.K.T.E. Textile &
engineering Institute, Ichalkaranji.

We toiled a couple of weeks and were able to gather 74 student

members from not only mechanical but also from computer sci.,
Electronics, and Textile engineering.

The club was inaugurated on 27th of January, 2010.

This is possible with the help of support from Prof. V. Kumar (Vice
Chairperson, SAE India Western section), Dr. AI. Wasif (Principal), Prof
V.R. Naik (HOD, Mech Dpt.) and Prof. S. L. Ghodake (Mechanical
Engineering).

We heartedly thank faculty advisors of the club, Prof. V.R. Naik(HOD

Mech. Dept.) and Prof. S.L. Ghodake and all the faculty of Mechanical
Engineering Department, without whom, the formation of D.K.T.E.’Textile
& Engineering Institute, SAEINDIA Collegiate Chapter, was not possible.
Chief Guest….

The guest of honor present on the occasion was Prf. V. Kumar, Vice-
Chairperson (Student Activities), SAE WESTERN INDIA.
Prof. V Kumar is a Post Graduate in Design Engineering from IIT,
Bombay. He has published various papers in national and international
journals.

He has also Post Graduated teachers of Pune University for last 25

years and VIT Vellore for last 6 years. He has guided several ME
students of University of Pune and M. Tech. Students of VIT
Vellore/ARAI PUNE.

He is currently VICE CHAIRMAN of SAE (International), Western India

Section and now for SAE INDIA for 12 years. Prf. V Kumar has chapters
at various colleges starting from MIT, Pune in 1996 and is responsible
for starting 56 chapters in Western India.

In 2001, Prof. V Kumar was selected to lead SAE delegation at

Pittsburgh, USA and was awarded first prize for best presentation.
Presently, Prof. V Kumar is affiliated to AISSMS’S College of
Engineering, Pune, Modern College of Engineering, Pune, JSPM’s
College of Engineering, Pune.

It was an honor for D.K.T.E., TEI, to have such a huge name to stand
with us on this occasion.
On the inauguration day………..

Program started with traditional oath of our college by all the dignitaries
& the student members present on the
occasion. Later Prof. V Kumar and Mr.Pradeep Dhusia was welcomed
and felicitated by Prof.V.R. Naik and Prof. S.L. Ghodake by presenting a
bouquet.
Prof. V.R. Naik (HOD) introduced Prof. V. Kumar. This was followed by
various addresses.

Mr. Atul Kaniche, (Student Chairperson, D.K.T.E. TEI SAEINDIA

Collegiate Club), introduced about SAEINDIA, Collegiate club and the
motive behind formation of it. He declared the names of the office
bearers of the Chapter which are as follows:

He also thanked the chief guest for his presence on this auspicious
occasion.

SAEIndia collegiate club
Prof. V Kumar (Vice-Chairman, SAEINDIA WESTERN SECTION)
formally declared the formation of D.K.T.E., TEI, SAEINDIA 56th
Collegiate Chapter in Western Section.
Prof. Kumar delivered presentations regarding SAE and its history &
future aspects. He also discussed about its formation in India and role
played by ARAI. Many audio & video clips were shown by him which
elaborately demonstrated the gist of SAE & ARAI, Pune. Further, he
gave information regarding the Automobile Industry in India and the
current & future scenario in the industries. His speech focused around
the development of India Automobile Sector and Allied Industries.
Further, he talked about various prestigious events like SAE Baja
Competition, Social Gathering, etc He also showed an audio video clip
showing what is BAJA, how BAJA event takes place, what are the
requirements, what is the importance of the event and so on.

Prof. V. Kumar also said about importance of SAE in the academic life of
students and its benefits. At the end Prof. Kumar appreciated the efforts
taken by the students and the college for supporting such events.

Felicitation………..

After the remarkable presentation from Prof V. Kumar, he was felicitated

Mr. Indraneel Banerjee (S.E. Comp. Sci) concluded with vote of thanks.
He also thanked all the other dignitaries who were present on this
auspicious occasion. He also appreciated the efforts of the
volunteers and the students who made the inauguration successful. In
his speech, he said that SAEINDIA is a platform provided through some
great thinkers who are engaged in making this world more reliable.
Though it was the end of the inauguration function but it should not end
here. The students are required to put their efforts in the right direction,
in a right way.
