Objectives
To provide a basic understanding of the concepts and techniques of site and area planning
Course Synopsis
This course deals with the site and area planning for land development of a particular area and other associated issues. Site planning
entangles so many issues which need to be addressed properly and should follow the existing guidelines written in the Private
Residential Land Development Rules 2012. Topic which will be covered under this course are Introduction to site and area planning;

types of site development, Site selection and analysis: natural factors, cultural factors, and aesthete factors; land use and circulation;
site drainage, grading and earthworm alignment of horizontal and vertical curve, Site layouts and development for residential,
institutional, industrial, shopping and other types of development, Subdivision planning, landscape and plantation, Key concepts in
recreation planning. Recreation needs and resources, Functions and classification of open space, parks, and recreation areas. Analyses
of demand supply and use pattern. Parks and open space standards-approaches to developing standards. Selection of sites. The
recreation space master plan and its components. Implementation strategies.

Skills:
There is no scope to be skilled in light of the aforementioned knowledge as per the course design.
In the next semester, there will have studio based upon this theory course.
