Caution
This machine uses high temperatures in the platen area which can cause burns to
the bare skin. It also has some pinch points. All of these areas have been well
guarded with electrical interlocks. It is recommended that the operator wear
gloves when working with the chases and that the safety features of the machine
are never altered.

Operation/Maintenance
(Operacion/Mantencion)
PAXAR Dri-Ink System
The PAXAR Dri-Ink System was developed by PAXAR Corporation to give the
garment manufacturer the unique ability to print quality colorfast labels in-plant.
The PAXAR 7500, using PAXAR Dri-Ink and PAXAR Tapes, will print instant dry
labels ready to be sewn into garments. The label material is fed intermittently into the
machine from a roll. Each time the tape stops, the element image is transferred from
the dri-ink through heat and pressure to the label tape.
The labels can then either be cut off and stacked, ready to be boxed or sewn into
garments, or rewound on the optional tape rewind unit.
The machine incorporates the following features for ease of operation and to improve
the quality of print:

Operation/Maintenance (Operacion/Mantencion) 13
This control is manufactured to perform many functions, but on your hot stamp
machine its only purpose is to control the printhead temperature. The following is an
explanation of the front panel and function keys necessary to program for your
operation:
1 The PV/SV key is used to alternate the two displays.
2 Is the PV lamp, showing that the display is indicating the PV temperature.
NOTE: The PV temperature is the actual printhead temperature.
3 Is the SV lamp. This indicates the set value of the pyrometer. It would be set at the
desired temperature for the printhead.
4 Is a green indicator lamp showing that the printhead is heating. It will begin to
blink when the PV temperature comes close to the SV temperature.
5 Is the display that indicates the printhead temperature in the PV mode.
6 Down key will scroll any digit flashing downward.
7 These keys are used to pulse the digit above them higher. The first pulse will start
the digit flashing and the second pulse will change it one number or each pulse.
Upon initial start-up in the morning, the pyrometer will indicate the P.V. temperature
until the PV/SV key is pushed. The display will then change to the SV temperature
setting.
To set the temperature, push the PV/SV key (1) until the SV lamp (3) is lit. Then press
the up arrow key under the digit you wish to change. The digit will begin to flash.
Keep pressing the arrow key until the desired digit shows. Each press of the key will
advance it one count. Repeat this process for each digit you wish to change. When all
digits are set to the desired value, press the Ent. (8) key.
The SEL key is only used to program the counter for other applications. Do not use it.
Should you accidentally press it, the display will show letters which are different
functions of the control. Should this happen, do not press the DATA key. Turning the
heat off and back on will correct the problem.

the print plate. Thread the ink over the guide bars (B) and under the dancer bar (C).
Thread the ink under the platen bar (D) and set all the guide washers (E). After
threading, reset the dancer by pulling the plastic lever (F) forward. This must be reset
each time the dancer trips causing the machine to stop.

Lubrication (Lubricacion)
Lubrication PAXAR 7500 (Weekly 20-30 wt. Oil)
PAXAR uses only pre-lubricated bushings and ball bearings in its equipment and
should give many years service even without preventive lubrication. It is suggested that
whenever guards are removed for various reasons the machine is lubricated before the
guards replacement.

Troubleshooting (Dificultades)
Electrical Troubleshooting Introduction
ELECTRICAL TROUBLESHOOTING SHOULD BE PERFORMED BY
QUALIFIED MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL
A. POWER SHOULD BE DISCONNECTED FROM THE MACHINE AT ALL
TIMES WHEN IT IS NOT NEEDED FOR A PARTICULAR TEST.
B. Before performing any of the electrical troubleshooting, check all the wiring for
possible loose connections due to vibrations , etc., Power should be OFF. Check
components for breakage or burning, check for any blown fuses on the internal
fuse block.
C. The causes are listed in a sequence of probability. Perform the checks in the
sequence listed.
D. After making the last check listed, if the trouble has not been remedied a detailed
electrical check-out should be made.

Troubleshooting (Dificultades) 45
The hinge post for the lever on top must be mounted square and vertical with
the assembly.
B.
Bushings on the top lever should be tight (note some side play is permissible if
you dont lose motion).
C.
D.
The nylon washer between the top knife slide and the main frame is in place.
(Early machines used a bronze washer.) This should be replaced with the
nylon as it improves stability of the Top Knife.
E.
Check the slide of the unit. It should be so you can work it up and down in
your hands. If it is too tight or loose, it can be adjusted with the center
slide screw. (See manual pg. 28 fig.29)
3A
3B
3D
3E
9. If you have trouble with the cutting, check the tightness of the center slide screw. Also
check to see if the bottom blade is against the top blade or being held away by the
mounting screws. If this happens, you can shim the top knife out. This trick can also
be used to improve cutting without removal of the unit.
46 Troubleshooting (Dificultades)
2.
Remove the Backer Disc by loosening the set screw in the tapered collar.
3.
The newest design has 3/16 thick Brake Pads. They are gray in color. The old
pads are only 1/8 thick and brown in color.
4.
If you have the old design and want to update, you also have to change the 3/8
screw, which the dancer clamps to. This has to be longer for the new design.
5.
To install the new pads, remove the outside pad holder by removing the -20
spring tension screw and the pivot screws.
6.
Install the new pads on the support arm and the brake pressure plate. Be sure to
keep them oil and dirt free.
7.
Check the brake disc for oil, grease, or dirt on it, also sometimes there is a burr on
the outside edge. This must be removed with a file.
Brake Pads
Brake Disc
Install the brake pressure plate with both new pads installed and the Brake disc in
place. Screw in the pivot screw until the pressure plate and the support arm are
parallel. Note: the nut under the pressure plate should be Loctitened on the screw
with a little play in the pressure plate. Do not move this nut.
9.
With this pressure plate set parallel with the support arm, screw in the spring
tension screw. This should not be tightened too tight. The pressure plate must be
allowed to move outward to release the brake.
10. Now screw in the Brake Actuation screw finger tight against the Brake pressure
plate. Do not push the pressure plate away.
11. Now put the dancer arm on the actuation screw. Lock the clamping screw with the
dancer roller all the way to the right. That is the roller that would be against the
Back copy adjusting screw. Be sure that the actuation screw does not turn.
12. Hook up the dancer arm spring.
13. At this point, the last adjustment is to turn the pivot screw in turn clockwise and
lock the nut against the support arm.
14. The machine should now run with the dancer arm in the center with no false
tripping. NOTE: The early 7500 machine used lighter springs for the pressure
plate and for the dancer arm. The correct pressure plate spring is a compression
spring. The Dancer spring is an extension spring.
