Allegro Sigrity 16.

62 -- Windows Version
Installation Guide
You can find the Allegro Sigrity 16.6 Release Installation Guide, Version 16.6
(Installation_Guide.pdf) in the Documents folder of the Disk 1 folder of the
Cadence Product DVD.

Whats New
ASIS 16.62 introduces three new products to the Allegro Sigrity Product Line:
PA5800: Allegro Sigrity PI Base
SIGR925: Allegro Sigrity Signoff and Optimization Option
SIGR950: IO-SSO Analysis Suite

Allegro Sigrity PI Base (PA5800)

The Allegro Sigrity PI Base is a complement to the Allegro Sigrity SI Base
(PA5700) in that it utilizes the Allegro canvas for viewing and casual editing
of Allegro PCB, Package, or SiP files. PI Base provides first order Power
Integrity checks to be performed. The tool is meant to be used either by
designers who need to seek guidance during the layout process, or by
Power Integrity experts, who need a quick answer, and understand the
confidence level that can be applied with the first-order analysis.
ASI Sigrity PI has the following features:

A layout editor for floorplanning, editing, and routing

Integrated Sigrity technology for DC Analysis featuring cross-probing between
the analysis results and the floorplanner
A new Power Feasibility Editor (PFE) to drive the creation of PI Constraint Sets.

The PFE allows you to select and analyze a set of capacitors to

create a de-coupling strategy for a particular device. This strategy is
then captured as a PICSet which is then passed back to the design
and can be managed in Constraint Manager.

A new DeCap Place command to provide placement guidance for placing

capacitors based on the PICSet

Allegro Sigrity Signoff and Optimization Option (SIGR925)

The Allegro Sigrity Power Integrity Signoff and Optimization Option
integrates with PI Base to provide expert-level power integrity analysis on top
of an editing canvas that allows for the design to be changed and reanalyzed in an integrated fashion. This Option includes the ability to run all of
these Sigrity tools (one at a time) either directly from the PI Base (PA5800)
or as a point tool:

PowerDC
OptimizePI
PowerSI
3D-EM
CAD Translators

IO-SSO Analysis Suite (SIGR950)

The IO-SSO Analysis Suite is a specific group of model creation and
analysis tools that provides the ability to accurately simulate a group of
parallel bus nets that are switching simultaneously. For example, a DDR3
data bus could have as many as 64 simultaneous switching signals. The
noise on the power and ground planes, known as simultaneous switching
noise (SSN), must be accurately characterized to understand if the data will
always be reliable. This suite of tools provides all the functionality required
for modeling chip, package, and PCB from die to die. The simulation tool
provided understands modern memory interface protocols (such as DDR3 /
DDR4) and points out violations to the electrical specification for those
standard protocols. This Suite includes the ability to run all of these Sigrity
tools (one at a time) as a point tool:

T2B
XcitePI Extraction
XtractIM
PowerSI
Broadband SPICE
SystemSI PBA
CAD Translators

Allegro Sigrity Suite Products

There are four product suites, which combine existing Sigrity tools and include CAD
translators to support PCB and Package designs from all of the major vendors. The
suites are:
Power Aware SI: Includes layout-based TD and FD simulation with or without
ideal power, system-level simulation of parallel buses, and supporting tools
for model conversion, extraction, and correction.
Power Integrity: Includes AC and DC sign-off analysis for PI and pre- and
post-layout decoupling capacitor optimization for PI and EMI.
Serial Link SI: Includes all of the modeling and simulation capabilities need
for system-level channel analysis.
Package Assessment and Model Extraction: Includes hybrid and 3D
solvers, packages electrical assessment, and DC power analysis.
IMPORTANT: Users installing SIGR301, SIGR311, SIGR911, and SIGR931 should
also install PowerDC to avoid a run-time simulation problem.

Allegro Sigrity SI and Allegro Sigrity PI Install Recommendations

To run Allegro Sigrity SI or Allegro Sigrity PI, you need to have the ASI 16.62
install hierarchy, as well as the SPB 16.6 hierarchy with the latest HotFix (QIR
004 or later). If you invoke Allegro Sigrity SI or Allegro Sigrity PI from the Start
menu, without an SPB 166 installation, following error message is thrown.

To run the Allegro-Sigrity flow, it is recommended that the destination location

for installing Allegro-Sigrity tools should be the same as the SPB 16.6 install
hierarchy.
The Cadence recommended sequence of installing the software is:
1. Install SPB 16.6.

Note: Install all SPB 16.6 products by selecting Complete in the Setup Type
page of the Cadence SPB installation wizard.
2. Install the latest SPB 16.6 HotFix (QIR 004 or later).
3. Install the Allegro Sigrity SI (PA5700) and Allegro Sigrity PI (PA5800)
products.
However, if you need to install Allegro Sigrity and SPB 16.6 on different
directories, you need to complete the following tasks to run the Allegro-Sigrity
flow.
1. From the SPB install hierarchy, open the env text file, located at
<CDSROOT>/share/pcb/text/env for editing.
2. Modify the value assigned to the sigrity_eda_dir environment variable,
to point to the ASI/Update2 folder in Allegro Sigrity installation hierarchy.
NOTE: By default, the sigrity_eda_dir environment variable is set to
$ALLEGRO_INSTALL_ROOT/ASI/Base.

Running ASI Products

To install and run ASI 16.62 products in a system that has ASI 16.60 or ASI 16.61
installed, perform the following steps:
1. Install the latest SPB16.6 HotFix (QIR 004 or later)
2. Install ASI16.62
NOTE: If you want to access ASI 16.6 or 16.61 products, change the value of
SIGRITY_EDA_DIR in share/pcb/text/env to either ASI\Base or
ASI\Update1, respectively.

Description

ASI Installation

Uninstall of Base (ASI 16.6) after installing Update 2

(ASI 16.62) or Update 1 (ASI 16.61) makes the ASI
16.62 or ASI 16.61 Release non-functional.
If you uninstall Base (16.60) from a system that has
Update 1 (16.61) or Update 2 (16.62) or both installed,
the Update 1 and Update 2 releases might stop
working.
Solution: Install Update 1 (16.61) or Update 2 (16.62)
again to repair the installation.

ASI Installation

If you uninstall either Update 1 (16.61) or Update 2

(16.62) from a system that has both Update 1 or
Update 2 installed, the products might not work
properly with the following results:

Help Documents menu may not work

Import a leadframe design by DXF file may not work
SystemSI may not be able to find the templates.

Solution: Re-install the release that has not been

uninstalled for the products to work.
