As the balance of economic growth shifts from developed to emerging
economies, the sector of agribusiness offers a new trajectory for bettering the
economy. For a major emerging economy, like India, higher inclusive growth
leads to more equitable opportunities and benefits all members of its society. As
agriculture accounts for more than 50% shareof national employment,
agribusiness sector becomes critical driver to achieve an enhanced inclusive
growth. Concurrently, increasing population rate, global interdependencies,
and diversity of markets; wider choices for consumer choices, new
technologies and intellectual property regimes along with impacts of climate
change and sustainability of resource base of agriculture are some of the
challenges contributing to the complex nature of this sector. More often, these
complexities bring uncertainties in this sector and enhance risks.
The two year PostGraduate Diploma in Agriculture (PGDMA)at this Academy is
designed to contribute a new generation of young agri-business managers with a
holistic perspective of agriculture and agribusiness, and with capacities to find
tangible solutions to challenges faced by the stakeholders of this sector. The

agricultural practices. Our students are also trained to be sensitive and

with ensuring of agri -enterprise viability and vitality. Their diverse skill set and
knowledge base, and a keen learning attitude, enable them to be positive
individuals, who can adapt to multiple roles, address new risksand
challenges, and contribute to the growth of the business.
