SEPTEMBER
MEANS FOOD
PANTRY
Time again to
think about the
Norfolk Food Pantry
and how you can
help! St. Johns
supports the pantry
by donations of nonperishable food items,
monetary gifts to
purchase the perishable foods, and by
volunteers who sack groceries during
September for two hours each weekday
morning. THANK YOU!
* Non-perishable food may be left in the
collection boxes in the west hall, the narthex
and by the church office.
* Monetary gifts (placed in an envelope
designated Food Pantry) may be placedin the
offering plate or dropped off in the curch
office.
* To give of your time to help at the pantry,
its not too late to call Shirley Frowick @ 402644-7882.

NOTE: An anonymous donor

has thrown down a gauntlet for
the Folks & Forks NeLCM
Fundraiser:
$1,000 Jug Challenge!
$1,000 in the jug will be
matched dollar for dollar. Help
us rise to the challenge!

Thank you, too, for your donations of egg

cartons and plastic grocery bags which are
also needed!

As donations continue to come in for Aline

Skogstoe, our YAGM (Young Adult in Global
Mission), we will continue to move
the plane. While Aline has
arrived safely at her appointed
physical destination, she is
financially still somewhere over
the ocean! Thank you for your
support of Aline in her mission work. Checks
should be made out to St. Johns, with Alines
name in memo line, and we will update weekly.
If you would like to write to Aline, her mailing
address is:

the community. Disposable diapers are
required by daycare providers, and
average $100/month. We are especially

collection box is available in the west
hallway for your donations!

August COUNCIL HIGHLIGHTS

St. John's council heard about the
various opportunities to help the
community on the ELCA Day of Service,
September 13. Service projects for all
ages (from Sunday School age and up)
will be available, both inside the church
walls and also out in the community.
The t-shirts will be handed out in the
near future. For now, everyone should
check the table in the back of the
sanctuary to sign up for one of the
service projects. There will also be a
free noon meal served prior to being
sent out to the various assignments. If
you didn't get an order placed for a
t-shirt, some extras are available.
St. Johns will once again host the
Folks and Forks fund raiser for Nebraska
Lutheran Campus Ministry-Norfolk on
Sunday, September 20. Pastor Justin
has some new incentives for becoming a
sponsor of the event as well as the
anonymous $1,000 match donation.
Check out all of the ways to help by
donating, becoming a prong sponsor,
submitting a basket for the silent auction
and attending the event featuring a
concert by the Northeast Area Jazz
Ensemble.
The council has already started to
look toward 2016 regarding
Stewardship, Council Candidates,
updating the Rental Fee Policy, and new
forms of communication. We look
forward to the planning process in all of
these areas and more.
A complete copy of the minutes is
available by mail or email by contacting
the church office.
